The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Senior Systems Software Engineer to join the P-8 Missions System Software Engineering team in Kent, Washington.

The P-8 Mission Systems Software Operating Systems (OS) team needs a strong software architect on-site to lead a variety of products including the Virtual Integration Platform (VIP).

The P-8 Poseidon program is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Candidates will belong to an Agile software engineering development team that supports operating system, hardware, platform, and application development.

This engineer shall lead, oversee, and direct design, development, analysis, and maintenance of software systems, possess applicable domain experience, and work with internal and external teams across the P-8 Program to support Operating Systems development. Duties include but are not limited to: developing requirements, creation of design documentation inputs/formatting, technical coordination/cross-training, software development, and software validation and testing.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the design, architecture, development, and maintenance of P-8 Operating Systems products including the Virtual Integration Platform (VIP) and P-8 Trainer variants

• Lead and oversee the design, architecture, prototyping, and development of mission computing and software modernization
• Partner with software and hardware stakeholders to inform system definition and oversees translation of system-level requirements into software requirements to meet Navy customer capability requests
• Provide cross-team architecture level guidance for P-8 Mission Systems Software including estimation of new business and opportunities
• Mentor junior engineers and provide cross-training within the team by implementing and documenting standard design, test, and execution processes and procedures for the OS and VIPs

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 10+ years of experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada

• Experience with requirements analysis, management, and decomposition
• Experience with standard engineering tools such as MBSE/PLE, Cameo, DOORS and common collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Git)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 20+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

• Experience with mission systems, avionics, command & control architectures, embedded systems, sensor systems, or related defense/space programs.
• Prior work on software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, flight test, or distributed system integration.

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

The successful candidate will join the KC-46 software team that develops and certifies the most advanced aerial refueling and mission software in the industry.  This position leads hardware and software development efforts for an advanced vision system upgrade to the KC-46 Tanker.  The candidate will work hand-in-hand and lead Collins’s supplier development activities.

What You Will Do:

Position Responsibilities:

How will you make an impact?

• As the Sr Industrial Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing; integrated, production and service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the production site.
• You will adopt to profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.
• As the Sr Industrial Engineer, you will also work on complex products/processes/Workcells and propose and drive cross-functional projects within a Work cell.

What will you do ?

• Design of optimized human interfaces for SMT and Backend/DF in the following areas:
• Should be able to be SME or support other IEs in one or more of the IE SME categories like:
• Work Measurement
• Systems and Metrics
• Ergonomics / Workstation and line design
• Capacity Sizing
• PFMEA, DFA
• Fixtures and Tools
• Simulation
• Quoting
• Warehousing
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Understanding and application of broad range of industrial engineering tools (i.e., Work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities and workstation design, operations research, etc.)
• Understanding of Jabil’s global strategies and direction
• Understanding of site’s facilities, capabilities and how they tie back to the Jabil strategies and direction.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

• Strong financial and analytical ability.
• Proven record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous improvements and cost reduction programs.
• Effective communication skills.
• Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD skills required.
