Position Overview

Samyn-D’Elia Architects is seeking a Senior Associate Architect with 10–15 years of experience who thrives in a hands-on, design-focused environment. This individual will play a key leadership role in guiding projects from early conceptual design through construction administration, ensuring technical excellence, thoughtful detailing, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural projects through all phases: programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration
  • Produce and oversee comprehensive drawing sets with strong technical precision
  • Coordinate with consultants, clients, and internal team members
  • Conduct site visits and support construction administration efforts (minimal overnight travel; most projects are within a few hours of the office)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and zoning regulations
  • Mentor and collaborate with team members to maintain high design and documentation standards
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented studio culture


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional architectural experience
  • Licensure preferred; candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply (support available for those on the licensure track)
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects across multiple sectors such as commercial, municipal, educational, hospitality, or residential
  • Strong background in construction documentation and detailing
  • Experience with wood frame construction
  • Proficiency in Revit required

Compensation & Benefits

SD Architects offers a highly competitive salary range of $110,000 – $130,000, with flexibility for exceptional experience. Discretionary performance bonuses and profit-sharing have historically been significant, with total bonuses ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 depending on firm performance.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Oakland, CA for a Jr Estimator (HVAC, Sheet Metal) at Broadway Mechanical-Contractors, Inc. The Junior Estimator supports the estimating team in preparing accurate, timely bids for commercial HVAC and sheet metal projects. This role involves reading and interpreting plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing cost estimates using AutoBid Mechanical (Trimble/QuickPen) software. The position is ideal for someone with foundational sheet metal knowledge who is eager to grow into a senior estimating role.


Major Responsibilities/Activities

 

  • Review bid drawings, project manuals, and specifications to understand project scope.
  • Attend project job walks and site visits as needed.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs for sheet metal systems using AutoBid Mechanical (Trimble/QuickPen).
  • Set up material specifications, system assemblies, and labor factors in the estimating software.
  • Assist in developing conceptual budgets from Basis of Design (BOD) or preliminary documents.
  • Solicit and track vendor and subcontractor quotes for equipment and services.

Position Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Mechanical and Electrical Operations, the Facilities Engineering Technician (HVAC) will assist with all appropriate support tasks related to facility operations, with emphasis on building HVAC and other mechanical systems, including mission critical data center environments. Will be a part of the planning and implementation of various construction, repair, and maintenance projects as well as daily tasks. This position requires a professional licensure in the HVAC services trade.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing (top five):

  • Functions as a Facilities HVAC Technician, performing necessary maintenance and repair to base-building mechanical systems at Point32health's corporate facility and remote office locations.
  • Responsible for the efficient and continuous operation of all Data Center HVAC and related control systems, as well as developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs for all mechanical systems.
  • Oversees outsourced trades people in the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems.
  • Maintains all necessary records consistent with mandated record keeping requirements for all mechanical systems at all Point32health sites.
  • Operates PC based direct digital control (DDC) systems. Performs calibration and repairs to these systems as necessary.
  • Monitors Point32health's energy usage and recommends measures to reduce/optimize energy consumption. Assists in energy conservation projects.
  • Manages relationships with one or more outside vendors, ensuring the highest standards of performance, best pricing, adherence to contractual obligations, and accurate invoicing. Keeps all contracts, insurance, and vendor's access to company facilities accurate and up to date.
  • Troubleshoots maintenance problems, repairs, and maintains all HVAC and refrigeration systems, but also may also assist with lighting, plumbing, and electrical systems. Effects repairs that are within his/her scope of expertise and reports to Supervisor those requiring the services of an outside contractor.
  • Completes daily work order requests for the above duties, responding to priority requests in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Monitors the condition of assigned lease areas, performs on-going maintenance tasks, and reports outstanding issues to supervisor.
  • Closes-out assigned work requests promptly upon completion, including relevant information pertaining to work performed. Information to including but is not limited to: problems encountered, diagnosis, resolution, and additional work needed to complete task.
  • Performs essential services to the company, including associated maintenance duties, and safety related repairs
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Certification and Licensure

  • Required: Massachusetts Refrigeration License and CFC Certification.

Education

  • Required (minimum): High School Diploma.
  • Preferred: Trade school graduate.

Experience

  • Preferred: 5-7 years of HVAC experience, including field experience installing and servicing large scale commercial HVAC equipment.

Skill Requirements

  • Employee must be a highly motivated individual who can perform tasks and handle responsibilities with little or no direct supervision. This position requires an individual with good skills at prioritizing workloads, the ability to solve problems in the field, and experience working in critical .data center environments. Employees must have the ability to use diagnostic and repair tools consistent with the practice of HVAC installation and repair, and to safely work with high voltage machinery and circuitry found in commercial HVAC equipment. The ability to read floor plans and electrical/mechanical diagrams is essential. Moderate computer skills are also required for Microsoft Office applications and Facilities Management software.

Interpersonal skills (include personal interaction):

  • Employee must be able to coordinate his/her work within a project team and work with junior maintenance personnel in daily activities. The position also requires good customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with department personnel, internal and external Point32health customers, consultants, and vendors.

HVAC Technician

The HVAC Technician troubleshoots equipment, performs maintenance, repairs and installs HVAC Building and Data Center systems and equipment, supports the operation of the Facilities Emergency Management Systems. This role provides back up support for all other trades, such as electrical, plumbing, roofing, general construction, grounds, irrigation, and snow removal. They also participate in an on call program, responding to emergency call during and after hours and working overtime for snow removal and other building related needs.


Who We Are Looking For: You.

  • Trouble shoot, maintain, repair and install HVAC systems and equipment at the TJX Buildings and Data Center Facility. This equipment includes pumps, motors, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, boilers, roof top units, unit heaters and chillers.
  • Work with other skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, general construction, grounds, irrigation and snow removal. Respond to emergency calls as part of an on-call program and participate in any activity necessary to keep the Facility operating properly.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair the Energy Management System software and hardware controlling the Home Office complex.
  • Oversee contractors working in the facility to insure the quality of work and minimize the disruption to the facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 5 years as an HVAC Technician
  • 2 years in service and troubleshooting of commercial buildings
  • 2 years with experience in operating energy management systems
  • Technical or trade school education in heating, ventilating and air conditioning
  • Required to hold a Refrigeration Technician License with the state
  • Required to have a Universal Refrigerant Certification


This position is on site 5 days per week in the Marlborough, MA office.
