Candidate must have strong attention to detail and accuracy, strong communication skills, written and verbal, personal qualities of tact and dependability, possess good manual dexterity, vision abilities (close, distance color and ability to focus), able to carry at least 30 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally, be able to stand for entire shift, be able to perform repetitive movements (e.g. twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching) and must be able to work a flexible schedule (weekends are required). 1. Tests all raw materials, in-process/byproducts, and finished products specific to Sample Analysis Reference Table
2. Performs tests and provides results in a timely manner
3. Report out of specification results to Laboratory Supervisor, the Quality Control Office, and Production Supervision when appropriate
4. Record test results on appropriate form, in computer database, or in logbook
5. Checks samples that yield out of specification results and record appropriately
6. Work closely with the production and laboratory staff

POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA '88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. Assists with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA). Personnel report to department supervisor. May be responsible for the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens into the laboratory.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs testing in an accurate and timely manner according to established policies and performance standards with a knowledge level determined for that testing. Responsible for startup, calibration and accuracy of procedures and instrumentation. Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures. Demonstrates appropriate resolution and follow through for problem solving identified during testing. Promotes and consistently meets department standards for productivity and quality
3. Ensures the appropriate use of supplies and materials and assists with inventory management. Ensures efficient utilization of reagents and supplies. Recognizes and provides input towards opportunities for improvements in financial performance to decrease costs, improve productivity, and improve service.
4. Self-directed and motivated to contribute to projects identified by the supervisor. Seeks out opportunities to identify projects relating to department needs. Active in training of laboratory personnel. Performs well in supervisor's absence and provides guidance on issues relating to pre-analytical, waived and non-waived testing. Completes all required training modules.
5. Communicates courteously, professionally, effectively and accurately with internal and external customers. Participates in the resolution of communication issues. 6. May process and prepare patient samples as required which can include the following: 1) specimen collection 2) general laboratory specimen processing and 3) referral laboratory processing. In doing so, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicant must meet one of the following criteria to qualify:
- Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or
- Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489, or
- Meet other criteria defined in 42CFR493.1489 or 42CFR493.1491 (including US military medical laboratory procedures training courses)
- Individuals working in the state of Nevada or California are required to maintain their certification throughout their time in position.
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation) or other nationally recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility and translated diploma.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in departments where applicable.

Role Description
This is a full-time, 2nd shift on-site role based in Portland, OR, for a Laboratory Technician. This technician will be working with cannabis, psilocybin, water, meth/fentanyl wipes, and other environmental samples. The main focus will be on PFAS water testing using an LC-MSMS. The Laboratory Technician will also be responsible for operating laboratory equipment, conducting sample preparation and analysis, performing quality control procedures, and ensuring accurate reporting of results. The Senior Specialist, Laboratory Operations, coordinates and supports multiple laboratories within one or more departments. This could include ownership/responsibilities over any associated warehouse areas, performing glassware washing and media/buffer prep.

SUMMARY
We are looking for a proactive Senior Associate, Building Science Knowledge Systems, who will support and help manage projects that strengthen the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) ability to assemble, store, and disseminate codes, standards, performance criteria, and best practices in the built environment. Our goal is to make knowledge easier to access and understand so that buildings are safer, more efficient, and more innovative. This role will own defined project workstreams and support multi-stakeholder projects to ensure alignment with client goals, scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards. The Senior Associate will coordinate with internal team members and subcontractors, contribute to clear communication and reporting, and help ensure effective knowledge transfer across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Support planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of assigned projects and workstreams with emphasis on building technology and innovation.
- Draft and maintain project workplans and schedules for assigned projects and workstreams.
- Support defining and documenting project scope, deliverables, KPIs, and success criteria; maintain trackers and dashboards for performance reporting.
- Support budget, schedule, and resource management for assigned projects; assist with Estimate to Complete (ETC), forecasting, and status reporting; flag variances and recommend corrective actions.

SECURITY CLEARANCE
A security clearance is not required, however ability to be granted or to obtain at a minimum, an interim Secret security clearance during employment and then obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance throughout the period of employment, is strongly preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct report responsibilities. The Senior Associate may provide task-level guidance to internal team members and contracted staff within assigned workstreams.

Here is some of what you can expect from being a Medical Technologist with us:
- You will provide technical quality testing for neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in the laboratory setting in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, AABB, FDA, and CLIA standards
- Your thorough understanding and application of the MT practice is essential due to the intense field of critical patient testing. Therefore, you must continuously strive to improve clinical testing through formal and informal education
- You will maintain knowledge of all procedures and protocols
- You will perform required quality control and function verification of equipment
Qualifications you will need for this role:
- ASCP or AMT are required within 6 months of hire. ASCP is the preferred certification. Continued employment will be based on valid certification
- Associate degree in related science required. Bachelor’s degree in related science preferred.
- A college graduate or equivalent who has passed a certification examination for Medical Technologist by ASCP or AMT or has completed an accredited MLT program with ASCP Board Certification is also accepted.
- Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired but not necessary.
