The Role

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for developing, sourcing, and executing high-quality, cost-effective packaging solutions that meet brand, quality, and sustainability standards. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Operations, and Sourcing, to support new product launches and ongoing production needs.


The Packaging Engineer will oversee component development, supplier management, and production readiness while driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.


Key Responsibilities


Packaging Development & Engineering

• Translate creative design concepts into functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective packaging solutions

• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, and Sourcing to ensure packaging aligns with brand standards, functionality, and cost objectives

• Interpret and approve engineering documents, including die lines, material specifications, and technical drawings

• Provide subject-matter expertise to ensure packaging feasibility and production readiness

Supplier Management & Sourcing

• Manage packaging component orders and monitor supplier performance for cost, quality, and delivery

Production Planning & Quality Assurance

• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery of packaging components for production and new product launches

• Oversee packaging inventory levels to support production planning and business continuity

• Support first production runs through on-site quality assurance and troubleshooting

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Planning, and Logistics to ensure readiness for on-time launches

• Drive initiatives to reduce waste, streamline processes, and improve overall packaging sustainability


Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Develop and implement best-in-class packaging development processes, documentation, and tools

• Partner with Product Development, Regulatory, Planning, Finance, and Logistics to ensure seamless cross-functional alignment

• Champion continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence

• Support packaging technology transfers and process standardization across product lines


Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field

• 5-6+ years of experience in packaging development, preferably within the beauty, skincare, or consumer goods industry

• Strong knowledge of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and structural engineering principles

• Proven experience conducting RFQs, COGs analyses, and managing supplier relationships

• Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills

Overview:

The Heavy Civil Project Manager (PM) plays a dual role in Balfour Beatty by overseeing projects from the pursuit proposal stage through construction completion. The ideal candidate will manage alternative delivery projects (CMAR, CMGC, Progressive DB, Design-Build) by leading operational assessments, technical development, and constructability strategies during the pursuit and preconstruction phases, then transitioning into project execution during construction.

In the pursuit phase, the PM serves as the Operations Lead, working closely with the Strategic Pursuit Lead, Estimating, Proposal/Marketing, and Design Partners to evaluate project risks, develop technical approaches, propose Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs), conduct value engineering, and shape construction execution plans. During preconstruction and project execution, the PM supports constructability analysis, construction phasing, risk mitigation, and execution strategy development, working with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize project delivery. Pursuit Phase – Alternative Delivery & Technical Leadership

Responsibilities: As our Permanent Tooling Technician (Mold Injection), your key responsibilities will include: 1.

Operating and maintaining tooling equipment, including Bridgeports, lathes, and surface grinders.

Creating precision tools for our injection molding processes.

3.

Performing regular maintenance and repairs on mold injection tools to ensure optimal performance.

4.

Collaborating with our engineering team to identify and implement improvements in our tooling processes.

5.

Ensuring all tools are stored properly and safely, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications: 1.

A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, preferably in the Engineering industry.

2.

Extensive experience operating and maintaining tooling equipment, including Bridgeports, lathes, and surface grinders.

Proven ability to create precision tools for mold injection processes.

Qualifications & Requirements 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience 2 years of experience in Food, Beverage, or other consumer packaged goods.

Preferred experience working on Krones bottling lines.

Mechanical/Electrical experience maintaining production equipment in a continuous production environment.

Preferred experience with Industrial Electrical Wiring, Mechanical/Electrical Devices, Circuits, Robotics, PLC, and computer controlled.
