We are seeking a versatile and team-oriented Structural Project Engineer in our Structural Team, ideally located in the Syracuse or Albany, NY area, or at our Endwell, NY office. Candidates located outside the designated office locations may qualify for full remote work, subject to company policy. Job Description:
The Senior Engineer is the technical authority for steam plant systems. They evaluate equipment issues, make engineering decisions, support capital projects, and ensure safe, reliable, compliant plant operation. This role requires someone who can independently analyze technical problems and clearly justify recommendations.
This is a regulated industrial engineering role, not a technician role. Candidates must have strong engineering judgment, experience with large industrial systems, and the ability to work across Operations, Maintenance, and Project Management.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Ownership
• Serve as the technical decision maker for plant systems and equipment
• Evaluate failures, recommend repair/replace/modify solutions
• Review engineering analyses, vendor drawings, specifications, and bid packages
• Provide engineering direction for capital projects and system upgrades
System Support
• Apply mechanical/electrical engineering skills to boilers, turbines, pumps, and high pressure steam systems
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
Cross Functional Work
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, PMs, and contractors
• Support troubleshooting, outages, inspections, and system modifications
• Communicate technical recommendations clearly to mixed audiences
Regulatory & Documentation
• Support audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
• Maintain engineering documentation and technical justifications
