Responsibilities


  • Perform numerical modeling in support of coastal processes (Waves, flows, sediment transport, coastal morphology change) in support of coastal engineering projects such as beach dune and marsh restoration, coastal structures, inlet management, coastal resiliency and coastal flooding.
  • Coordinate and establish effective working relationships with team members, project managers, and clients.
  • Conduct numerical modeling studies from start to finish including pre-processing data, creating modeling grids, developing and implement boundary conditions, conducting numerical model calibration, project scenario simulations, post processing results, creation of modeling graphics and videos and preparation of final deliverables including technical report and power point presentations.
  • Participate in project decisions regarding numerical modeling scope and scheduling.
  • Prepare various project documents including reports, technical memorandums and technical papers to be published in specialized journals.

  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Oceanography or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with numerical modeling of coastal and estuarine systems, including coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and morphology change, utilizing Delft3D and XBeach modelling suites.
  • Experience with Matlab programming, specifically development of pre- and post-processing scripts for Delft3D applications.
  • Experience with wave and tide schematization for long-term morphology change simulations of beaches and inlets.

Senior Structural Engineer JOB DATA Department Code: 807X Account Code: 701000 Department Name: Engineering Account Name: Non-Plant Exempt POSITION PURPOSE This position includes senior-level structural engineers with PE certification who provide leadership, training, industry experience, and technical expertise.

The Senior Structural Engineer has the ability to take on technically complicated, complex projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES Perform engineering calculations and details for all products and connections.

Independently perform lateral analysis and design; troubleshoot and check laterals.

Lead project teams.

Independently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance or guidance.

Review contract documents to be familiar with project requirements.

Attend project meetings and lead coordination meetings.

Write and review complex requests for information (RFI).

Resolve design issues independently and assist others with solving engineering design related problems.

Serve as point of contact for Metromont engineers and subcontractors for resolution of more complicated technical questions and problems.

Check engineering design calculations and details of others including that of external consultants for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Metromont standards and Engineering Design Process.

Review erection drawings, master shop tickets, and any additional shop tickets to ensure designs and standards are followed.

Aware of production through regular plant visits and participation in plant meetings relevant to assigned projects.

Become licensed in states where engineering work is performed and, when assigned, reviews and stamps erection drawings, calculations, and repair details.

Evaluate design cost as compared to estimate and take appropriate action.

Complete repairs without assistance.

May be an active participant in external industry organizations such as PCI and ACI.

Participate in pre-sale engineering design processes as requested by the sales department.

Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer/Principal Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either at the Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer level OR at the Principal Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.**

The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of the program.  This person will serve as a junior engineer, supporting Avionics Integration of Aircraft flight deck Systems to achieve certification of CNS/ATM capabilities.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Avionics Integration engineering support for the integration of aircraft flight deck systems and components including Flight Management Systems (FMS), Flight Management Computers (FMCs), Primary Flight Displays (PFDs), Terrain Avoidance and Warning Systems (TAWS), Crew Alerting System (CAS), Moving Maps, and other various avionics systems.

  • Assist in the preparation and support the verification of aircraft avionics and Prime Mission Equipment installations and aircraft certification documents.

  • Provide Critical Skills to teams with internal and external knowledge of the technical industry and how it impacts the company. Serves as an expert for Avionics Flight Management Integration.

  • Provide support for the development of system safety documents.

  • Create aircraft system schematics to support air vehicle wiring diagrams.

  • Development and analysis of requirements and supporting trade studies.

  • Manage suppliers, review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution.

  • Informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshooting hardware in the lab.

  • Supporting flight test activities and post flight data analysis, and resolution of flight test anomalies.

A successful Flight Avionics Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams. This individual consistently brings up concerns, issues and risks, and holds themselves to a high level of technical rigor.

Basic Qualifications:

Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer (T02):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 2 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 0 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering.

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain active DoD Top Secret Clearance (interim needed to start)

  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet communication protocols

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer (T03):

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
