Job Title: Senior Process Engineer
Compensation: $200k - $350k + Bonus & Equity
Location: Bay Area, California
Hours: Monday to Friday

The Client:
Our client is a fast‑growing advanced‑materials company developing low‑carbon technologies to strengthen critical metal supply chains. Focused on scaling innovative metallurgical processes from pilot systems to commercial facilities, it partners closely with engineering firms and EPCs to build safe, efficient, first‑of‑kind industrial plants. The team operates in a high‑ownership environment, accelerating the transition from research to full‑scale production to support key energy and defense sectors.
The Responsibilities:
- Drive the scale‑up of metallization processes from lab and pilot systems to demonstration‑scale operations.
- Take ownership of key process engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, PFDs and control narratives
- Oversee custom equipment design and specification, lead vendor selection, and manage FAT/SAT activities and fabrication through third‑party suppliers.
- Plan and Lead HAZOP, LOPA, and safety reviews, as well as implementing safeguards
- Liaise with EPC contractors, ensuring that all targets are met from start-up to completion
- Create commissioning plans, SOPs, and training materials; support plant ramp‑up and long‑term reliability improvements.
- Lead and promote continuous improvement, optimizing processes where possible.
- Proactively identify risks, resolve obstacles quickly, and operate effectively in a fast‑moving, high‑ownership environment.
The Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Process and/or Project Engineer within the Energy, Chemical and/or Metallurgical industries
- Minimum BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Extensive experience with PFDs, P&IDs, control strategies, HAZOP / LOPA methodologies and regulatory documentation
- Proven ability to scale projects from start-up through to deployment
- Previous experience delivering successful projects and processes safely, within budget and on schedule
- Experience collaborating with and managing EPC contractors.
- Previous experience in high‑temperature, vacuum and/or thermal processes (advantageous)
- Hands‑on experience with plant startups, commissioning, and operating environments (advantageous)
- Knowledge of CAD software and data analysis tools (advantageous)
