Job Description Assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient.
Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction.
Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff.
Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.

Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
Formulates, coordinates, and provides plan of care as established in unit standards including, patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Provides direct patient care including, treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and acts to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.

Participates in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence- based practice.
Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and is accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
Actively participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Additional competencies and skills outlined in any department-specific orientation will be considered essential to the performance of the job related to that position.
Part time (.5 FTE, 20 hours per week), rotation ( D/N), every other weekend, every other holiday.
Offer self-scheduling to allow for flexible schedule.
Unit Details: Advanced Acute Care Cardiovascular (HFAM8) is a 30 bed, private room, Cardiology, Vascular, Thoracic and Med-Surgical with a cardiac diagnosis unit.
We take patients needing conscious sedation for bedside cardioversions/Chest Tube insertion, Bi-pap, Hi-flow and Ultra-filtration for Heart Failure patients.
Multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
This includes, but not limited to, nursing, physicians, respiratory, physical/occupational therapy, and care management all working as a team to provide the best patient care.

Job Summary
Geisinger's Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the growing Electrophysiology department at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.Job Duties
Geisinger Heart Institute spans a 45-county service area and has over 100 physicians and more than 75 advanced practitioners. This team provides care in 5 acute care tertiary/ quaternary hospitals, 4 community hospitals, and numerous outreach locations, and together performs over 10,000 cardiac procedures annually.
Geisinger Heart Institute features multiple accredited chest pain centers, a nationally recognized regional STEMI PCI network, complex arrhythmia ablation, a full range of coronary, vascular and structural heart interventions and an advanced heart failure program.
The ideal candidate will:
- Day10-hour shifts are optional
- Collaborate with the physicians to assess, diagnose, and treat adult cardiac patients referred to the cardiology service
- Demonstrates autonomy through patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care
- Manages and assists in the smooth, efficient operations of the inpatient cardiology patient, outpatient cardiology clinic, cardiac labs and outreach cardiology clinics
- Orders testing as deemed necessary and remains proficient in interpreting results and prescribing appropriate medication regimen within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will work in collaboration with the physician and have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners or be eligible to hold national certification that allows the NP to work with the patient populations and location settings associated with this position. Must be eligible for licensure as a nurse practitioner in the state of PA.
