Position Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Plant Director will lead high-impact operational improvement initiatives across manufacturing. This role goes beyond analysis — you will implement solutions, train teams, standardize processes, and ensure improvements are sustained. High visibility role working cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain, with direct visibility to senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks (quality escapes, rework, prep time, inefficient assembly, material flow issues, etc.)
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC) projects delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, and cycle time
• Drive root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
• Convert tribal knowledge into Standard Work, SOPs, and clear work instructions and help move the operation toward a paperless, analytics-driven environment
• Support development of scalable, repeatable processes
• Develop and track KPIs (scrap, rework, downtime, OTD, cycle time)
• Analyze shop floor data and present actionable insights to leadership
• Measure and report savings in dollars, hours reduced, and risk mitigation
• Support ERP improvements, system integrations and implement visual management tools and structured shop floor controls
• Implement digital tools (Power BI, Excel, Power Automate, digital checklists)
• Deliver hands-on Lean/CI training to operators, leads, and supervisors
• Lead Kaizen events, Gemba walks, and cross-functional improvement workshops
• Reinforce accountability and continuous improvement mindset at all levels

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering or continuous improvement experience
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (5S, VSM, SMED, Poka-Yoke, Visual Management) and Six Sigma (DMAIC, root cause analysis)
• Experience developing standard work, driving real improvements, measurable cost savings, cycle time reductions and shop floor digital tools
• Bilingual English/Spanish Required

• Six Sigma Black/Green Belt or Lean certification
• Background in Aerospace, heavy fabrication, or complex assembly preferred

A leading Space and Defense manufacturer in Los Angeles is seeking a Director of Operations to lead a technically complex production environment specializing in large, lightweight metallic structures and assemblies serving aerospace, missile, and hypersonic markets.

This facility focuses on metallic forming, precision forming, advanced spin forming, CNC machining, fabrication, and assembly integration. The Director of Operations will own full site-level operational performance and P&L accountability, driving production discipline across multi-step manufacturing routings involving machining, forming, welding coordination, heat treat, finishing, and final assembly.

This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role for an operator who understands large-part CNC machining, tight-tolerance metallic components (aluminum highly desired), and the execution rigor required to scale throughput while improving margin performance.

Responsibilities:

• Lead all production operations across CNC machining, metallic forming, spin forming, fabrication, finishing, and assembly.
• Establish structured daily production management cadence to improve schedule adherence, throughput, and flow.
• Drive performance across large gantry milling, 3-axis and 5-axis machining environments.
• Optimize complex manufacturing routings spanning machining, deburring, forming, welding coordination, heat treat, and integration.
• Own site-level P&L performance, improving labor efficiency, equipment utilization, and cost control.
• Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing systems including 5S, SMED, TPM, and OEE-based performance management.

Qualifications:

Required

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in aerospace or advanced CNC manufacturing environments.
• 5+ years leading a machining-intensive manufacturing operation with full production accountability.
• Experience producing large, tight-tolerance metallic components (aluminum strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated oversight of 3-axis, 5-axis, and large gantry milling environments.
• Proven P&L ownership within a manufacturing facility.
• Experience managing complex multi-step production flows and downstream processes.

This role works in the company's IT Applications and Development group and will be playing a critical role in translating challenges into data-driven products.

In this role, the individual will be partnering closely with SMEs, business stakeholders, and Engineering teams to design, implement, and operate scalable data products for internal use using the Palantir Foundry platform. In Vivo Pharmacology (Senior Research Assistant - Senior Associate Scientist Level)

Our team in the Elowitz Lab at Caltech/HHMI is engineering therapeutic protein circuits, a new cancer-treatment modality at the intersection of synthetic biology and oncology. We’re looking for an in vivo oncology scientist (Senior Research Assistant to Senior Associate Scientist) to help expand and run the program’s translational in vivo engine. The role starts in an academic setting, with the option to transition into an early-stage startup in 2027.

Why therapeutic circuits?

Cancer therapies face a fundamental trade-off between effectiveness and precision, driving off-target toxicity, recurrence, and resistance. Therapeutic protein circuits address this by directly rewiring oncogenic mutations to cell death. Delivered as mRNA in lipid nanoparticles, these engineered proteins can distinguish cancer from normal cells and have shown tumor suppression in vivo. By design, these circuits “sense and kill” rather than inhibit. This mechanism makes them independent of oncogene addiction and less susceptible to resistance than most targeted therapies, potentially enabling a new generation of highly potent and specific cancer medicines.
