The Claims Analyst supports the Claims Department's Operations and Management Teams by developing/maintaining or supporting business reports, applications, and analytical solutions. Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant for the department of Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction and supervision of a Dr. Keri Lunsford, provides health care services to patients and assist in the management of patients under clinical trial in the Division of Transplant and HPB Surgery at Rutgers NJMS. PA should have specialized knowledge and experience in organ donation, liver transplant, complications of liver transplant, and the evaluation and management of liver transplant patients both prior to and following transplantation. In addition to clinical duties, the PA will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of clinical trial records, assessment of complications occurring following clinical trial enrollment, and entry and audit of clinical data into the data management system. They will be required to undergo training and certification in clinical trial data management and human subjects research, and they will interface with clinical and research personnel. Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Provides documentation for patient clinical assessment for those enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal and ensure protocol compliance for patients enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care for clinical trial patients.

The Corporate Counsel position provides transactional, regulatory, and other corporate legal services in support of their assigned practice group, or in connection with certain corporate functions or business initiatives. The Corporate Counsel will consult with their practice group leadership when issues are significant.

Responsibilities:

  • Represents Horizon at administrative law hearings including preparing witnesses and exhibits, eliciting testimony and cross-examining witnesses, and drafting motions, briefs and summations, as needed.
  • Advise/counsel across assigned functions related to the organization's legal rights and obligations.
  • Provide legal counsel in business-related areas of expertise and identify/assess risk.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations.
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and/or approve legal contracts, letters of agreement, policies and other documents related to operational matters.
  • May be accountable for liaising with external legal counsel on complex legal issues.
  • Liaison with regulators in certain jurisdictions, as necessary.
  • Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
  • Responsible for assisting on transactional matters, including commercial contracts and negotiations pertaining to the Company's supplier, services, and real estate.

Education/Experience:

  • JD degree from ABA-accredited law school required.
  • One year of experience at a law department, law firm, or other relevant experience addressing complex business and/or legal matters.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry or regulated industries preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Contracts law and other relevant concepts across technology and intellectual property, as appropriate.
  • Health law or health care compliance, as appropriate.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Business acumen and judgment, including ability to place legal risk in proper business context.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with leaders and associates in key business areas.

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $130,000

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. NFC is looking to hire an experienced employment law Counsel for our Chatham, New Jersey office. This position will be filled by a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual who excels in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment that values top-quality work and positive contributions to the workplace. This particular position is perfect for an experienced employment attorney seeking a non-litigation position or an in-house role, as the position is focused on a wide range of advisory work.


Classification: Exempt Position


Location: Hybrid – work in NFC’s Chatham, NJ office a minimum of two (2) days per week. Under NFC’s current hybrid model (which is subject to change), in-office days are every Wednesday, with a second day on either Tuesday or Thursday. Must be flexible and willing to work in person for additional days as needed for coverage and/or other business needs.


Hours: 1,400 – 1,600 hour Billable Hour Requirement annually, with flexibility and open discussion based on candidate experience and firm needs/Hybrid In-Office Role


Reports to: Counseling Practice Group


Essential Functions:


Applicant must have a minimum of at least 10 years of substantive employment law experience, including experience advising clients on a range of employment law issues.


Responsibilities are focused on independently managing all aspects of employment counseling matters for private sector corporate clients headquartered in New Jersey and New York, specifically:


  • Advising clients on a wide variety of employment issues, including hiring, workplace policies, investigations, agreements, performance management, separation, and leaves of absence
  • Communicating with clients on a regular basis, including delivering advice via phone or virtual platforms and drafting comprehensive business-focused advisory emails
  • Preparation of workplace agreements and policies (e.g., Handbooks, Separation Agreements, Restrictive Covenant Agreements, etc.)
  • Handling agency matters, including EEOC and DOL (and similar state/local agencies)
  • Oversight of associates in Counseling Practice Group on employment law work
  • Training clients on employment law and DEI issues
  • Development and deepening of client relationships
  • Participation in NFC webinars and seminars
  • Participation in monthly Counseling Group meetings
  • Participation in other firm-related events and professional development meetings
  • Voluntary opportunities for NFC committees including DEI, Social Responsibility (Pro Bono), and Culture Club

Total Compensation Package Range (Salary plus Maximum Performance and Hours-Based Bonuses): $200,000 to $230,000 this salary range has been prorated for 1600 Billable Hour Requirement


Additional Bonuses: Discretionary overage bonus (based on exceeding billable hours); origination bonus, and employee referral bonus.
