About the position

OGS Machining is a CNC Job Shop that is currently looking for a full-time CNC Mill Setup/Operator position. Standard shop hours are (4) ten-hour days Mon-Thurs. 6:00am 4:30pm, with occasional overtime on Fridays as needed.

OGS Machining is a medium-volume, production job shop whose average machining order is 100 - 500 pcs. 75% of our jobs are made from bar stock with the remaining 25% are machining castings or billet. All parts can easily be held in your hand, no cranes or material handling equipment are necessary. The majority of our CNC turning equipment is less than 4 years old, and state-of-the-art.


Job Summary

Responsible for set-up, occasional program editing (at the controls) and operation of vertical mills for production.


Essential Functions

  • Setup mills for production machining.
  • Prove out and inspect first piece for each setup.
  • Troubleshoot, edit, and optimize existing programs to ensure efficient overall production (most of our programming is done at the control via G-code).
  • Document new program changes and processes to ensure setups can be duplicated and overall production time is optimized.
  • Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell.
  • To be proactively aware of work load and plan tooling requirements for future jobs ensuring minimum downtime
  • To make most efficient use of machinery and equipment, including the use of proper feeds and speeds, cutter compensation and modern programming strategies.
  • Inspect and deburr parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper measuring instruments. Take ownership of the quality of parts you produce.
  • Help produce jigs and fixtures that improve productivity
  • Use skill and caution to prevent damage to machinery and equipment (crashes, etc)
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machinery, and keep your work area clean and tidy.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience of working unaided on setting up and operating CNC mills In a job shop environment.
  • Must have a good understanding of CNC programming structure, tooling theory, and speeds / feeds for various materials.
  • Previous experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
  • Any manual programming or program editing experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience with Makino horizontal mills is helpful (but not required)
  • Must be able to identify critical blueprint dimensions and how to inspect/ check these critical dimensions. Strong GD&T skills a plus.
  • Possession of own measuring tools / gages is a plus our QC department can provide gages as needed, and will calibrate any/all personal gages owned by the employee.
  • Ability to work on a wide variety of complex parts from drawings.
  • Ability to change and adapt work behaviors based on a constantly changing production schedule.
  • Must be dependable and detailed oriented.

Position Description: Quality System Manager

We are seeking a transformative leader to serve as the primary architect of our Quality Management System. In this role, you will bridge the gap between rigorous engineering standards and shop-floor execution, ensuring our electrical distribution equipment meets the highest benchmarks of safety and reliability. You won't just be managing a checklist; you will be building a culture where quality is a shared responsibility, directly impacting on our ability to power critical infrastructure across the globe.

Primary Duties:

  • Lead the design, modernization, and long-term architecture of the company’s Quality Management System, transforming it into a streamlined, intuitive, and scalable framework that supports rapid manufacturing.
  • Bridge rigorous engineering standards with practical shop-floor execution, ensuring quality expectations are clearly translated, consistently applied, and fully understood across all levels of production.
  • Drive a shift from reactive quality control to proactive quality assurance, enabling issues to be identified and resolved at the point of origin.
  • Reduce late-stage defects, rework, and test failures by implementing systems, training, and processes that prevent problems before they occur.
  • Build strong partnerships with production, engineering, and operations teams, positioning Quality as a collaborative enabler of speed, precision, and problem-solving.
  • Establish a culture where quality is a shared responsibility, with operators, technicians, and engineers demonstrating increased ownership and accountability.
  • Maintain a state of continuous audit readiness by embedding compliance into daily workflows, ensuring internal and external audits are passed with minimal disruption.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making within the QMS, using trends and insights to prioritize improvements and guide operational strategy.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration

Skills & Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering
  • 3-5+ years specifically managing or owning a Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, audits, and system modernization
  • Strong background in ISO 9001, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development, management, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS). Duties include providing guidance to Top Management on the requirements of applicable standards, to ensure products and services meet applicable customer requirements. This position also involves identifying quality issues, using root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve them promptly, and supporting the development and launch of new products and processes. You will be working collaboratively in a team environment, the role focuses on developing quality processes, implementing best practices, and reducing waste and variation.

  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System following industry best practices with the goal of maintaining ISO 9001 certification.
  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement using quality and lean tools and methodologies.
  • Ensure associates are aware of the quality policy, relevant quality objectives, their contribution to the effectiveness of the QMS, and implications of not conforming with QMS requirements.
  • Guide Top Management in quality planning including actions to address risks and opportunities, and the establishment and achievement of quality objectives.
  • Plan and conduct the internal audit program. Serve as the point of contact for external audits. React to nonconformances in a timely manner.
  • Represent the company as applicable in professional dealings with customers and suppliers including resolving customer complaints and handling quality enquiries from internal and external sources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or a related field.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor training and/or certification.
  • Demonstrable results in QMS design, implementation, and improvement.
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering within a manufacturing industry, preferably in electronics.

Education, Experience, And Knowledge

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to earn respect, promote teamwork and collaboration, meet project deadlines, and lead by example.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of Executive, Senior, and Facility Management.
  • Strong technical and regulatory expertise in quality requirements and knowledge of applicable industry standards.
  • Experience in nonconformity investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Lean six sigma certification and/or experience is preferred.
