Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Auxiliary Systems

Location: Janesville, WI (On-Site)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and construction of auxiliary mechanical systems within a highly regulated engineering environment. This role will act as a key liaison between the design and construction teams, ensuring system designs are properly executed during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases. The engineer will collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and construction teams to ensure systems are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate stakeholder feedback on system design packages.
• Interface with the Procurement team to support vendor selection, design reviews, and fabrication contracts.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors on Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
• Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of auxiliary mechanical equipment.
• Perform owner’s acceptance reviews of vendor-supplied design documentation.
• Prepare and review test plans for factory and site acceptance testing of equipment.
• Act as a technical liaison between engineering design and construction teams during installation and commissioning.
• Address field inquiries and technical issues during construction.
• Conduct site walkdowns and inspections of installed equipment to verify proper installation and compliance with design specifications.
• Support system design documentation including drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and quality documentation.
• Provide schedule updates and coordinate with project controls on task progress.
• Manage multiple engineering tasks and small-scope project management responsibilities, including scheduling, planning, and resource coordination.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of relevant engineering experience in a professional setting (10+ years preferred).
• Experience working in highly regulated environments or complex engineering projects.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously at different stages of completion.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a hands-on engineering mindset.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant project experience.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code.
• Experience supporting engineering activities on active construction sites.
• Experience with structural design considerations for seismic loading.
• Familiarity with quality systems and engineering support for incoming inspection of custom equipment.

SUMMARY

The Purchasing Specialist supports and coordinates purchasing, acquisition, and demand planning activities for ingredients, packaging, co-manufacturing and bought in finished goods. The role manages both domestic and international suppliers and contributes to cost optimization, risk mitigation, and operational continuity. The ideal candidate brings solid procurement experience across Direct Materials, Indirect Materials, and Services, with strong analytical capabilities, a customer centric mindset, and a process improvement orientation.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & COMPETENCIES

• Source to Contract (S2C): Prepare sourcing events (RFI/RFQ/RFP), validate requirements and specifications with stakeholders, apply TCO criteria, negotiate and recommend awards, support contract review/execution with Legal, and manage supplier onboarding.
• Procure to Pay (P2P): Evaluate purchase requisitions, generate accurate POs, send POs to suppliers, confirm acknowledgments, track deliveries/ETAs and expedite, resolve GR/IR and invoice discrepancies with AP, and close orders.
• Category Coverage: Manage end to end procurement for Direct Materials, Indirect Materials, and Services, aligning with demand, quality, and cost targets.
• Planning & Inventory: Build demand plans integrating production schedules, supplier capacity, lead times, and on hand inventory; maintain Kanban/min max/safety stock to minimize obsolescence.
• Inbound Logistics: Plan/manage inbound flows (including imports) to ensure on time availability at optimal cost.
• Supplier Management (SRM): Qualify, evaluate, and monitor suppliers; participate, when necessary, in Business Reviews, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Risk Management: Identify supply risks (capacity, quality, geopolitical, single source); implement mitigation frameworks and dual sourcing when appropriate.
• Negotiation & Contracts: Lead negotiations for pricing, commercial terms, service levels, and long-term agreements; support contract and performance management.
• NPD & Changes: Support domestic/international new product development (NPD); coordinate material changes and ramp up/ramp down plans to protect service and cost.
• Artwork & Packaging: Ensure timely release of approved artwork/graphic files to packaging suppliers and printers.
• Cost & Working Capital: Drive cost reduction initiatives (should cost, value engineering, consolidation) and optimize inventory to improve cash and reduce write-offs.
• Analytics & Automation: Build reports/dashboards with advanced Excel and Power BI; leverage SQL/Python/VBA to improve data quality and streamline processes.
• Stakeholder & Customer Focus: Provide timely, solutions-oriented support to Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Planning; communicate tradeoffs clearly.
• Digital Fluency & Process Discipline: Work effectively within ERP/MRP; maintain clean supplier and material master data and adhere to procurement policies and ESG/responsible sourcing practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field; 2+ years of relevant procurement experience (manufacturing/FMCG/food preferred).
• Proven experience purchasing Direct Materials, Indirect Materials, and Services.
• Strong command of TCO, sourcing strategy, supplier lifecycle management, and basic contract/commercial terms.
• Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiations, performance management, and issue resolution.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle; Microsoft Business Central a plus).
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query; macros preferred) and experience with Power BI or similar BI tools.
• Data management skills and a structured, process driven approach.
• Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, or VBA to support reporting and automation.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in confectionery, food & beverage, or consumer packaged goods.
• Exposure to category strategy, spend analysis, cost modeling, and supplier risk assessment tools.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Familiarity with ESG/responsible sourcing considerations.

Your New Role:

Coordinate manufacturing needs with engineering solutions. Develop guidelines for manufacturing for new materials and find improvements in machine design and material handling for increased profitability of current materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Identify potential opportunities for improvement in methods of extrusion

· Document and standardize each improvement in terms of efficiency and quality

· Train personnel, from management to lead positions in improved process methods

· Help in the investigation of customer complaints that involve the process as necessary

· Furnish weekly reports documenting the type and amount of improvements that took place

· Specify process requirements relative to new equipment or machine redesign as a function of the engineering department effort

· Aid in troubleshooting production problems

· Provide the VP of Manufacturing with prioritized project lists with schedules and cost estimates included

· Coordinate the rework schedules and files for all dies, screws, barrels, and rolls

· Set production volume targets for all materials, monitor actual machine outputs and make suggestions to management for improved rates and/or efficiencies toward the goal of increased profitability

· Submit weekly reports each Friday summarizing activities, problems, and pertinent information

· Responsible for understanding the food safety hazards of their job and following the employee GMPs and other procedures to ensure food safety

Summary: The Operations Manager will report to the Director of Operations as an immediate contact person. In addition to management and supervision of production, the Operations Manager also leads efforts to continuously control costs, improve efficiency, and increase productivity. The Operations Manager will have oversight (in accordance with HR) of line(s) personnel and determine ways to maximize human capital. The Operations Manager will also implement and enforce policies and procedures, coordinate with leaders from other departments, and interact with upper management. The Operations Manager will need to be flexible with work schedules which may include different shifts and additional hours.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

• Promoting and implementing values, work ethics, and team concept approach in all supervisory techniques.
• Able to implement continuous and process improvements to enhance the efficiencies of the production floor/lines.
• Participate in the strategic planning process and helps develops long-range plans to meet business profit and growth objectives.
• Develops, reviews, and implements strategies and actions resulting in continuous improvement in safety, product quality, product delivery, productivity, material utilization, customer service, workforce diversity, quality of work-life, and lower manufacturing costs.
• Ensuring KPIs are attained by production staff. Work with other managers and supervisors to develop relevant KPIs related to achieving operational goals.
• Provides assistance to the Engineering Department in the selection, layout, and installation of new equipment and the improvement of current equipment in the production area.
• Cooperates with the Quality Control and Quality Assurance Departments to ensure compliance with all quality SOP.
• Supports the Quality and technical departments with any audits, including GMP Certifications, SQF, or any customer-specific audits. Ensures and Maintains appropriate files for tracking batch and productivity records.
• Tracks productivity numbers for all lines and employees in for all beverage lines, meeting and exceeding efficiency standards.
• Ensures all areas of the lines and production are meeting sanitary guidelines.
• Improve and Maintain OEE for each line.
• Lead efforts to continuously control costs, improve efficiency and increase production
• Lead, motivate, mentor, and develop Production Personnel
• Ensures effective employee relations: Provides coaching for development. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution and disciplinary action.
• Ensures product integrity in conjunction with the quality department throughout the production process by using HACCP and Quality Control points established and posted on the production floor.
• Ensures safety by implementing and monitoring safe operating procedures.
• Facilitates communication between departments to ensure overall company effectiveness
• Managing and participating in projects as assigned by the Director of Operations
• Ensure with Supervisors, staff, and quality personnel that correct ingredients are being used (lot verification), blend and grind, and the cook areas.
• Ensure with Production Managers, Supervisors, and staff that partials are being weighed up in approved containers, are labeled and covered. (including condiments)
• Ensure with supervisors and staff that batches are being staged on the table in the cooking area, and on pallets in the blend and grind.
• This role is a Day Shift that will work Monday through Friday.
