Job Summary:

The RF Microelectronics/Module Design & Foundry Services Department at Raytheon in Andover, MA, is currently seeking a Principal Electro-Mechanical Engineer to develop leading-edge miniaturized 3DHI sensors and systems to enable future generation technologies across Raytheon.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated “self-starter” who will apply strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills to implement innovative solutions to challenging design criteria. They will be involved in research efforts including initial concepts, advanced technology demonstrations, and will have the opportunity to follow product development from beginning to end, including documentation, fabrication, assembly, and test/delivery of a range of microelectronics products. This position requires strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to maintain positive relationships & satisfaction with Program leadership (Engineering and Program Management). Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and materials and prior experience working with contract manufacturers (OSATs) is highly desired.

The role requires knowledge of high-density microelectronic packaging designs including Interposers, organic substrates, wafer and chip bumping and general knowledge in areas of electronic components/devices such as ASICs and FPGAs, design of electronic packaging chassis and structures, interconnects (connectors/cables), and thermal management design of high-density electronic systems and electronic enclosures. The successful candidate will have the ability to bring new and fresh ideas to the team, with opportunities to explore research and innovation areas in a collaborative and fun team environment. Additionally, the candidate is expected to follow established procedures in creation of technical data package work products, while working closely with program management and functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met.

What You Will Do:

• Work with cross-functional hardware engineering teams to develop advanced microelectronics packages including 3DHI, 3D, and 2.5D (interposer + chiplets) and novel material and process solutions for RF, digital, mixed-signal, and photonics products
• Leverage industry-leading manufacturing and novel materials to achieve new levels of electro-mechanical performance and reliability

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field and a minimum of  Eight (8) or more years of relevant experience (An advanced STEM degree could count for 3 years of experience) with mechanical and electrical engineering design.
• Experience performing circuit layout design using 2D CAD tools
• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• A Master’s degree or PhD. in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field 
• Experience in RF circuit design, including 3D EM simulation in HFSS or similar tools
• Circuit layout design experience using 2D and 3D CAD tools (Cadence Virtuoso and/or Allegro/APD+)
• Experience and familiarity with selection and oversight for semiconductor wafer  processing and finishing (plating, bumping, dicing)
• Design experience with 3D and 2.5D packaging, complex CAD/EDA software design workflows, and RF/Thermal/Digital co-design
• Experience qualifying and implementing cutting edge materials, fabrication techniques, and understanding of relevant materials used in semiconductor manufacturing and packaging

Manufacturing Engineers learn production operations and the manufacturing discipline in a controlled environment.  They develop manufacturing engineering skills alongside their team; internalize an understanding of safety, quality, delivery, and cost; and use Raytheon systems and tools to create innovative and unique solutions to today’s manufacturing challenges. Manufacturing Engineers build technical depth into manufacturing processes and are accountable for improvement and optimization.

Primary responsibilities include developing the comprehensive manufacturing process for 3D metal parts for various radar, integrated sensor, and effector programs. The candidate will create, test, and upgrade Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs, develop and document fixturing and setups for CMM inspection, and create inspection plans. They will also assess process failures, disposition non-conforming hardware, and create and execute robust Root Cause/Corrective Action plans to permanently solve problems. This position requires close cooperation with the Operations team and other engineering disciplines. The desired candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be capable of working in a dynamic team environment.

What You Will Do

• Translate engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation including CMM programming, inspection planning, finishing requirements, and assembly instructions

• Support process improvements using data analysis, application of best practices, engaging with production personnel, and implementing innovative solutions to improve process capability and decrease cost

• Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team

• Self-manage workload to support existing production, perform non-recurring engineering work for new products, and drive improvement projects to completion.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience. 

• Knowledge of CMM programming and workpiece holding and manual inspection methodology

• 5+ years correctly interpreting engineering drawings, including ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensions and Tolerances as well as typical government and industry specifications

Using advanced semiconductor and module technologies, they will be responsible for the complete product cycle of the MMIC, including concept, design, layout, test, evaluation, and interfacing with the customer.

What You Will Do:

• Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the MMIC design field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products
• Design RF structures and transitions on multi-layer, multi-channel RF Modules and analog circuitry enabling both receive and transmit behavior

• Act independently to troubleshoot, and uncover and resolve issues

As an Control Account Manager, you’ll be assigned to one or more LTAMDS programs and will be responsible for providing innovative and trusted solutions that optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Land and Air Defense products and services over their life cycle. As a Deployment Fielding and Sustainment (DFS) CAM, the successful candidate will support the DFS program Leads, LTAMDS Program Control Account Managers, and Program leads in the successful completion of monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) inputs, reporting and analysis, monthly Budget Change Requests (BCRs), facilitate EAC and LRE inputs, and demonstrate the ability to perform meaningful analysis and effective communication to drive predictable results. Scope of work includes partnering with engineering and program leads for EVMS process inputs, EAC/LRE development, monthly variance reporting, and weekly analysis of cost and labor runs. The role focuses on driving cost control and schedule using APEX/SAP EV, IMS, and PMX management reporting tools. The candidate will be required to perform analyses and prepare reports to drive predictable cost and schedule. The ability to be self-sufficient as well as operating in a team environment, supporting both the Functional organizations, and ensuring program financial commitments are met and are fundamental to success in this role.

• Support the creation of Estimates at Complete (EACs) on a quarterly basis and

Latest Revised Estimates (LRE) on a monthly basis including estimate of costs, test of reasonableness analysis, and risk and opportunities assessment at the Program / Product / Mission area level.

• Perform detailed EV and financial analysis to budget baseline, schedule, and EAC positions.

• Prepare forecasts, monitor actual costs, and document variances to plans and forecasts

• Providing LCE inputs to proposals, supporting customer proposal negotiations, executing program start-up to include program Integrated Master Plan/Integrated Master Schedule and performance baseline development. Developing and partnering customer proposals, white papers, statements of work and Basis of Estimates

Qualifications You Must Have:

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Chief Product Owner (CPO) to lead the overall vision, strategy, and coordination of the C5I business area operating within the organization’s agile, multi-team environments. In this role, you will lead a team of product owners, align product goals with business strategy, and resolve dependencies, ensuring coordinated execution across the C5I programs scope.

What You Will Do

• Lead a matrixed engineering team, fostering collaboration across disciplines to meet program objectives and exceed customer expectations.

• Partner with the program leadership team to define and implement the "Definition of Done," ensuring quality and consistency throughout the product lifecycle.

• Serve as the primary interface with internal stakeholders, aligning technical execution with programmatic and business goals.

• Define, communicate, and implement the product vision and strategy to meet product line objectives.

• Oversee AGILE processes across SCRUM Teams, including Program Increment (PI) Planning, Scaled Daily Meetings, Tech Times, and Team Demos.

• Create and maintain a prioritized product backlog to ensure efficient execution of project goals.

• Support the program leadership team in providing innovative solutions to challenging problems for U.S. customers.

• Lead customer-facing demonstrations of the C5I system to potential new customers, contributing to the growth of the product line.

• This position is on site in Tewksbury, MA.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.

• Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex engineering projects.

• Experience working in an Agile environment and/or on Agile development projects.

• Experience in overseeing and/or monitoring technical cost and schedule performance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with software product development, networking, computing platforms, cybersecurity compliance (e.g., Link16, MIL-STD-6016).

• Six Sigma, CORE, Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Software Project Management Certification and/or PMX certification.

• Prior experience with the C5I product line or other DOD programs.

• Ability to understand command and control and/or radar technology in the areas of software design, integration and test.

• Proven experience in large, complex defense systems.

• Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively drive a shared vision across stakeholders and teams.

• Strategic thinking with a deep understanding of business and customer needs.

• Proven ability to resolve dependencies, mitigate risks, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

• Proven experience in large, complex defense systems.

• Experience with AI tools and applications to Systems Engineering.
