Estate Planning Attorney (Family Law Background Encouraged)

About Bratton Law Group

Bratton Law Group is a leading estate planning, tax, elder law, and life care planning firm serving families across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Our work focuses on helping clients protect their assets, create a proper estate plan, address tax issues, plan for aging, and navigate life transitions with confidence.

We are expanding our estate planning and elder law team and are especially interested in family law attorneys who are looking to transition into estate planning and long-term client advisory work.

Why This Role Is a Natural Fit for Family Law Attorneys

If you currently practice family law, you already understand:

  • Complex family dynamics
  • High-emotion decision making
  • Asset division and financial structures
  • Protecting children and vulnerable individuals
  • Negotiating sensitive outcomes

Estate planning allows you to apply these skills in a proactive, relationship-driven setting — often with less conflict and more long-term impact.

We provide training, mentorship, and infrastructure to support this transition.

The Role

The Estate Planning/Elder Law Attorney will work with individuals and families on planning strategies that protect assets, minimize risk, and prepare for future care needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents
  • Advise clients on asset protection and long-term care planning
  • Collaborate with elder law and care coordination teams
  • Handle plan updates and ongoing client relationships
  • Identify planning opportunities that intersect with divorce, blended families, and special needs planning
  • Participate in seminars and educational outreach

Qualifications

  • Licensed in NJ (PA a plus)
  • Family law, estate planning, or related experience preferred
  • Interest in counseling-based practice vs litigation-heavy work
  • Strong client communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset

Who This Role Is Ideal For

Attorneys who:

  • Enjoy working directly with families
  • Want more predictable schedules than litigation allows
  • Prefer long-term client relationships
  • Are interested in aging, asset protection, and legacy planning
  • Want to grow within an established, mission-driven firm
