Production Equipment Mechanic (3rd Shift) Location: Sumter, SC 29153 Pay Rate: $23.50/hour Shift: 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM (Sunday – Thursday) Interview Type: In-person interviews required Job Overview We are seeking a hands-on Production Equipment Mechanic to support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and repairing machine breakdowns, optimizing machine performance, and minimizing equipment downtime.
This role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience working with industrial equipment and mechanical components.
Candidates with backgrounds in automotive mechanics, HVAC, machinist work, boat engines, or high-speed manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities Set up, operate, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain production equipment.
Respond to machine breakdowns and perform mechanical troubleshooting.
Repair equipment issues affecting speed, waste, or product quality.
Perform preventative maintenance according to plant PM programs.
Maintain accurate production, maintenance, and downtime logs.
Assist maintenance teams with major equipment repairs.
Monitor in-process product quality and perform required QC checks.
Ensure machines operate within quality and production standards.
Maintain clean and organized production areas.
Support upstream and downstream production processes.
Follow all safety, environmental, and quality system requirements.
Required Skills (Mandatory) Candidates must have all of the following: Strong mechanical troubleshooting experience Knowledge of feeler gauges and other precision tools used to measure tolerances, torque, and clearances Familiarity with mechanical components including: Cams and cam followers Rod ends and bushings Chain drives and conveyors Gearboxes Vacuum systems Pneumatic systems Ball valves Basic troubleshooting of these systems Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs Hands-on mechanical background Preferred Experience High-speed manufacturing equipment Automotive or diesel mechanics Boat or engine repair HVAC systems Low-voltage electronics and sensors Machinist experience Industrial production equipment troubleshooting Essential Functions Operate equipment within specified quality and quantity limits.
Set up and debug equipment according to specifications and procedures.
Adjust, troubleshoot, clean, and repair equipment as necessary.
Maintain equipment logs documenting downtime and maintenance issues.

Start up equipment and ensure machines and control panels operate correctly.

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in metal structures, frame design, pipes and fabrication to support the development of power and cooling infrastructure for data centers. What will you do?
- Experience designing and integrating hydronic systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers for data center cooling applications.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing for chilled water and glycol-based systems.
- Understanding of installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in large-scale mechanical infrastructure.
- Design and develop mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for data center power and cooling products (UPS systems, battery racks, CRAC units, containment systems, LVS, MVS).
- Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA tools to validate mechanical integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.
- Analyze load paths, stress concentrations, and fatigue life of structural components to ensure long-term reliability.
- Design metal enclosures with considerations for airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.
- Evaluate and implement new materials, coatings, and fabrication technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.
- Create detailed CAD models and fabrication drawings, including weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts
- Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods to optimize cost, performance, and reliability
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with functional components.
- Lead mechanical design reviews and contribute to cross-functional design validation efforts.
- Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs, specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, and performance optimization.
- Interface with suppliers and customers to resolve fabrication issues and ensure quality standards are met.
- Support lifecycle management of mechanical components, including obsolescence planning and alternate sourcing.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.
