Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, blueprint reading, and the use of precision measuring instruments. The CNC Machinist will contribute to maintaining high-quality standards and efficient production workflows in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
Set-up machines to produce in conformance parts to existing programs. Including gathering/loading of machine tools and inspection tools.
Works closely with the team leader and team members to achieve necessary work requirements
Clearly communicate and document non-conformances and perform root cause analysis.
Complete all required documentation.
Follow all ISO standards.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Maintains a clean work environment, including daily cleaning of floors and machinery within the assigned work area.
Self-sufficient in start-up and shutdown equipment procedures, including re-starts after minor stoppages.
Performs operator PM of machinery, including required lubrication & maintaining proper oil & coolant levels.
Demonstrates ability to perform setup and operate the machine in a safe & efficient manner.
Changes cutting tools & performs minor tooling adjustments and program offsets.
Performs necessary quality checks of parts, including the effective use of calipers, micrometers, and functional gauges.
Recommends measures to improve productivity and quality of products to increase efficiency.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and does so with minimal supervision.
Experience with Mazatrol or similar conversational programming is a big plus. Programming not required, but programming knowledge is helpful.
Performs own setups and runs pre-programmed and established jobs to meet demand.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
· Attention to detail, able to hold tight tolerances, and make complex parts.
· Understand and properly use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, travel indicators, plug and ring gages. (Digital, Vernier, Analog)
· Must be able to understand GD&T
· Must be able to read G code program, set up machines, and diagnose problems
· Self-motivated, able to work well with subordinates and leaders.
· Multi-task, work with a sense of urgency, meet tight deadlines, and work overtime as required.
· High School Diploma or equivalent, or trade schooling.
· Preferred 8 years of CNC Setup/Programming Experience

Technical Leadership & Industry Knowledge
- Serve as an internal and external subject matter expert on nuclear construction methods, quality assurance programs, and regulatory frameworks (NRC, 10 CFR 50, 10 CFR 52, ASME codes, etc.)
- Maintain current knowledge of the SMR market landscape, including technology developers, project pipelines, licensing status, and key stakeholders
- Advise on nuclear quality assurance (NQA-1) requirements and their application to construction projects

- Guide internal teams on nuclear regulatory requirements and industry standards
Internal Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Act as a bridge between clients and internal project teams, clearly communicating client needs, expectations, and technical requirements

Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in the nuclear construction, nuclear quality, or nuclear regulatory industry

- Strong understanding of nuclear quality assurance requirements including NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and related standards
- Familiarity with NRC regulatory processes, licensing frameworks (10 CFR 50 / 10 CFR 52), and inspection programs
