Overview
The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The Carle Cath Lab performs many exciting and innovative procedures including, but not limited to: Diagnostic Cardiac Cath, PTCA interventions, TAVR, Left Atrial Appendage Closure, MitraClip, as well as peripheral vascular procedures including Peripheral Angiography, Peripheral PTA. Staff are responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the Prep/Recovery and Procedure Lab staff to facilitate excellent patient care. The HVI offers several unique opportunities for personal and professional growth, flexible staffing options (i.e. cross-training, job sharing, minimal on-call shifts), HVI MD Lecture series (which includes free CEUs for staff), mentoring program (to support new hires and transfers), and educational events with various HVI equipment and procedural training (i.e. Shockwave, CoroFlow, Structural Heart Program).

Responsibilities
Evaluate and enhance your own nursing practice by utilizing the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope and Standards of Practice to provide 1:1 patient care to adult patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures. Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs. Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. Administer moderate sedation and other medications in a safe manner by following Carle Policies. Communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solution. Perform hemodynamic monitoring, identify potential life-threatening arrhythmias, and implement appropriate clinical treatment. Collaborate with patients and families to answer questions and provide emotional support when needed. Enhance patient care activities and act as a safety advocate through participation in ongoing department quality improvement and evidence-based practice projects. Coordinate safe care delivery through effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team. Recognize and adapt to potential changes in procedures while responding to emergent situations. Participate in a fun, supportive, collaborative environment while working as part of a cohesive 3-4 staff team, comprised of Registered Nurses and Radiology Technologists. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Administers medications necessary for procedure. Manages care of patients during moderate sedation. Monitors hemodynamics throughout procedure. The compensation range for this position is $34.01per hour - $58.5per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients undergoing endoscopy procedures including prep, intra procedure and recovery phases for routine GI procedures of colonoscopy and upper endoscopy with opportunity to train for advanced and pulmonary teams. The compensation range for this position is $30.39per hour - $52.27per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model. The Procedural Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.
Qualifications

Responsibilities
Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice. Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using conscious sedation, placement of IV's, and monitoring patients in recovery from sedation. Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate. Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups. Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students. Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes. Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders. Assess patients in procedural area, both pre and post procedure, review medication, allergies, medical history, and obtain vital signs Initiate IV therapy Triage phone calls, complete prior authorizations, injection screening, and MRI screenings Provide education to patients in the office and post-injection area Order, stock, and maintain supplies for department Perform urine drug screens Assists Injectionists with procedures (epidural, nerve block, joint injection, radiofrequency nerve ablation, etc)
