Find your future with us.Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is looking for an Associate or Mid-Level SAR Signal & Image Processing Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join the Kent Space SEIT team located in Kent, WA (Seattle, WA) .

This position will focus on developing radar analysis and algorithms in a mission-critical environment that directly empowers our defensive capabilities.

You will develop and validate requirements for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems, perform trade studies, design and run tests to verify performance, support engineering compliance, and provide lifecycle root-cause analysis.

Work is performed under general direction with contributions to proposals as needed.

This role emphasizes algorithm design and software implementation: develop and evaluate radar algorithms (signal and image processing, detection, tracking, imaging) and translate them into production-ready code.

Proficiency in Python or C++ for algorithm development, prototyping, and data analysis is required; experience with signal and image processing toolsets, real-time software constraints, requirements tracing, and test-program design is highly valued.

Strong analytical, communication, and customer-focused skills with a commitment to quality and safety are essential.Position Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and test radar algorithms and translate analytic designs into production-ready code using Python (and other languages as needed) Perform trade studies to evaluate algorithm and system performance; iterate designs based on results and test data Participate in customer meetings, capture requirements and feedback, and provide technical support for operational tools and deployments.

Support agile software development practices: write user stories, participate in sprints, review code, and deliver incremental capability updates.

Define and execute test plans, perform root-cause analysis of anomalies, and coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure requirements compliance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement Requires an active Do D Top Secret Clearance 2+ years of relevant experience in radar systems, electromagnetic analysis, or related fields, including algorithm development and system-level testing.

1+ years' experience with Python, C++, C, or Matlab for algorithm development, prototyping, and data analysis; experience with signal processing toolsets and simulation environments Demonstrated ability to derive and trace requirements, DEVELOP test CASES, and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams Willing to travel domestically as needed (~10%) Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Active TS/SCI Advanced degree (MS or Ph D) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, or related field with focus on radar or electromagnetics.

Experience with real-time software architectures and implementation (C/C++, RTOS, or embedded systems).

Prior work on radar signal processing algorithms (detection, tracking, SAR/ISAR, waveform design) or electronic warfare techniques.

Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Num Py/Sci Py, and signal-processing libraries and toolchains.

Hands-on experience with test-range operations, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and flight or ground test campaigns.

Knowledge of requirements management tools, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and supplier/partner integration processes.

Position Responsibilities:

• Obtain daily work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and review work orders and blueprints to determine required tasks.

• Inspect preparatory cleaning, application of sealant, protective coatings, and leak detection coatings of integral fuel cells.

• Perform and witness leak checks, determining the source of leaks and evaluating the extent of repairs required.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to evaluate and coordinate improvements in build processes and defect reduction initiatives.

• Initiate and document any nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.

• Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance.

• Use precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics to verify that all parts and assemblies meet quality requirements.

• Review manufacturing plans and other documentation for completeness and compliance, identifying any discrepancies.

• Inspect mockups of engineering design changes to ensure adherence to specifications.

• Perform line checks to investigate whether rejectable conditions exist on other assemblies or airplanes.

• Indicate Quality Assurance acceptance by stamping the appropriate paperwork and processing completed records.

• Review previously accepted systems, customer requirements, or FAA conformities to determine if re-inspection is required.

• Work with engineering and the FAA on red label equipment to ensure proper segregation from production parts.

• Document discrepancies and report them to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

• Assist in the training and instruction of lower-grade inspectors, providing guidance as needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.

• Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).

• 3+ years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.

• 1+ years of experience calibrating and/or using coordinate measurement machines, laser trackers, and/or optical measurement devices.

• Experience as a Quality Inspector.

• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

• Ability to complete Fall Protection Training.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform all functions related to tool fabrication, rework, and repair as required.

• Obtain work orders from the team leader or supervisor, determining assignments based on schedule dates and tool availability.

• Read work orders and blueprints to identify required tasks, tools, and equipment.

• Develop plans for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools.

• Initiate and coordinate engineering change requests with internal support groups when necessary.

• Determine the sequence of tool fabrication work, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to production challenges.

• Access and utilize appropriate tool drawings, models, and specifications using available computing systems.

• Select and verify necessary equipment from the shop storage area, ensuring current tool certification.

• Perform repairs or replacements on tools as per Standing Tool Order (STO) Production Requests, and request rework orders if necessary.

• Layout holes, lines, and other tool features, and install or modify hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum tubes as required.

• Operate various machinery, including power saws, drill presses, and CNC machines, to shape materials and prepare details.

• Move materials and equipment using Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and overhead cranes as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of orders and coordinate tooling information with other shifts and departments.

• Handle hazardous materials in compliance with Boeing procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment.

• Engage in continuous improvement practices to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in tool and die work.

• Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauges, to ensure accuracy in fabrication and repairs.

• Interface with customers and suppliers to incorporate changes or resolve functional and installation issues.

• Submit completed jobs to Quality Assurance and assist inspectors in performing necessary checks or measurements.

• Utilize mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry, to calculate dimensions and analyze Model Based Definition (MBD) for fabrication details.

• Conduct tool tryouts and make necessary adjustments to ensure production meets quality requirements and specifications.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

• Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

• Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

• Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

• Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

• Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in repairing, maintaining, construction, and/or the inspection of tools, dies, jigs, powerfeed, etc.

• 5+ years of experience in machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials.

• 2+ years of experience using complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision, grinding, polishing, and fitting).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker.

• 2+ years of experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.

• Completed an approved Mold Maker or Tool and Die Maker state apprentice ship program and/or certified by the U.S.

• Ability to perform machining operations with a specified degree of accuracy and within a timely manner, maintain close and exacting tolerances and finish requirements ensuring highest quality workmanship on all tools, gages, and fixtures with minimal scrap.

• Capable of creating a repeatable setup and working to tolerances of +/-.0002" in controlled environment.

• Possesses 4 and 5 axis CNC skills for mill or lathe, and extensive knowledge of detail cutting tool geometry for different cutting tool types and materials.

• Ability to reverse engineer and manufacture mold components within time limitations

• Ability to read and write G and M code with CAM programming experience.
