Position Responsibilities:
Obtain daily work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and review work orders and blueprints to determine required tasks.
Inspect preparatory cleaning, application of sealant, protective coatings, and leak detection coatings of integral fuel cells.
Perform and witness leak checks, determining the source of leaks and evaluating the extent of repairs required.
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to evaluate and coordinate improvements in build processes and defect reduction initiatives.
Initiate and document any nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.
Conduct audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance.
Use precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics to verify that all parts and assemblies meet quality requirements.
Review manufacturing plans and other documentation for completeness and compliance, identifying any discrepancies.
Inspect mockups of engineering design changes to ensure adherence to specifications.
Perform line checks to investigate whether rejectable conditions exist on other assemblies or airplanes.
Indicate Quality Assurance acceptance by stamping the appropriate paperwork and processing completed records.
Review previously accepted systems, customer requirements, or FAA conformities to determine if re-inspection is required.
Work with engineering and the FAA on red label equipment to ensure proper segregation from production parts.
Document discrepancies and report them to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
Assist in the training and instruction of lower-grade inspectors, providing guidance as needed.
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.
Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Basic Qualifications :
3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).
3+ years of experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.
1+ years of experience calibrating and/or using coordinate measurement machines, laser trackers, and/or optical measurement devices.
Experience as a Quality Inspector.
Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.
Ability to complete Fall Protection Training.

The Boeing Company is looking for a Principal Flight Icing Specialist to join the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator Technology Team in Everett, WA, or Huntington Beach. Depending on experience remote work is an option.
We are seeking an experienced aerospace research leader to direct and grow multidisciplinary research focused on flight-in icing prediction capabilities for aircraft and propulsion systems. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in aerodynamic icing analysis and testing with demonstrated leadership as a principal investigator and program manager to execute research projects, develop strategic technology roadmaps, and maintain strong partnerships with government, industry, regulators, and academia.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide technical and strategic leadership for a research portfolio addressing aircraft and engine icing hazards.
- Serve as Principal Investigator or technical lead for developing enhanced analytic and testing methods for ice crystals and ice shape prediction.
- Supports wind tunnel testing, ground testing and flight testing at local and remote facilities.
- Mentor early and mid-career engineers in a multidisciplinary team to develop a talent pipeline.
- Define and implement long‑range research priorities informed by stakeholder needs.
- Develop and manage program budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
- Oversee and participate in development, validation, and dissemination of icing analysis tools and models for enterprise use.
- Lead coordination with government agencies, regulators, suppliers, and academic partners to align technology development outcomes with design and certification needs.
- Represent the organization in professional societies (e.g., AIAA, SAE) and standards committees; serve as a trusted external point of contact for icing research topics.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- 10+ years of progressively responsible research and technical leadership experience in aircraft icing, propulsion system icing, or closely related aeronautics disciplines.
- Fundamental understanding of convective heat and mass transfer and compressible flow physics.
- Demonstrated experience as a Principal Investigator (PI) for large‑scale research campaigns or program lead of multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong background in experimental and analytic methods.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Aerodynamics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.

- Coordinate with Corporate Investigations, Legal, ODA administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and compliant resolution of interference and certification safety issues.
- Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence to the FAA within regulatory timelines, including initial and final interference reports, ensuring alignment with the Act’s transparency and accountability provisions.
- Facilitate root cause analyses (RCA) and development of corrective action plans (CAP) for substantiated interference and compliance issues, supporting a culture of safety and accountability.
- Utilize project management tools to track and report on interference, compliance, and certification safety metrics.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion, supporting whistleblower protections and ethical reporting.
- Communicate effectively across departments with strong verbal and written skills to share ideas, present findings, and provide recommendations.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of corrective actions to address substantiated interference and prevent recurrence
- Gather and analyze relevant data to perform root cause analysis and investigations.
- Apply critical thinking to evaluate data and processes to support compliance, safety, and interference resolution.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Level 3: 6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4: 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of experience in project management
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering
- Experience or familiarity with regulatory compliance processes, investigations, or dispute resolution
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- Previous experience with Product Safety in aerospace or related industries
- 1+ years of experience with FAA regulations, ODA procedures, and the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act of 2020
- Deep understanding of 14 CFR § 183.57 (ODA Responsibilities)
- 1+ years of experience with Root Cause Analysis
- Experience with ODA Unit Member Interference reporting and resolution processes
- Experience working with Corporate Investigations, Legal, or compliance teams
- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies applied to compliance or personnel issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
