Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Indian Head, MD – 4 days onsite, 1 day remote - relocation assistance available

Length: Direct Hire

Salary: 100,000 to $180,000

Clearance: Will be obtaining a Secret security clearance

Overview:

Our client, a federally focused research and consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support a major federal customer in Indian Head, Maryland. This role supports a new 5‑year federal contract focused on complete facility renovations within a complex laboratory and industrial environment. The selected engineer will play a key role in electrical system design and infrastructure modernization efforts across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop complete electrical design packages for federal facility renovation projects
• Prepare electrical drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates
• Design and support systems including:
• Electrical power distribution and service upgrades
• Emergency generators and backup power systems
• HVAC electrical support
• Lightning protection and grounding systems
• Controls and telecommunications systems
• Support new construction as well as upgrades to existing buildings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams to meet federal design standards and schedules

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design (ideally supporting federal or mission critical construction efforts)
• 5+ years of experience designing electrical power systems for new or upgraded buildings
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks or other design software
• Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
