General Summary

John Moriarty & Associates of Virginia (JMAV) is seeking a full-time Superintendent in the Washington DC Metro area. The Superintendent will be responsible for leveraging your capacity for innovation & problem-solving to lead field operations to ensure an exceptional project is delivered to our clients. You will oversee self-performed and contracted work ensuring compliance with contract documents and the project schedule while also implementing a culture of safety and quality.


The Superintendent should be within daily driving distance of the Washington DC Metro area.


Roles & Responsibilities:

The Superintendent will:

  • Oversee the timely and quality installation of contracted work of either a total project or a particular scope, trade contractor, or portion of a project
  • Implement a culture of safety and quality among Moriarty employees and trade contractors and conduct regular safety inspections to ensure all work conditions are in compliance with company, contract, and government regulations
  • Create and manage a plan to successfully sequence work, manage jobsite logistics, and track materials and personnel
  • Ensure a high quality of work consistent with project and company standards
  • Takes initiative and personal responsibility to deliver a project on schedule and on budget
  • Develop, update, and communicate the project schedule and exhibit a command of critical schedule milestones with all project stakeholders
  • Manage, mentor, and develop team members to build a high functioning team
  • Cultivate strong relationships with all project stakeholders
  • Maintain professionalism while representing the company and team in internal and external meetings and interactions
  • Possess working knowledge of the owner contract, subcontracts, and vendor agreements
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of staff charts, general conditions, project costs, and demonstrate an understanding of key performance indicators (KPI) for the project
  • Participate in close-out activities including punch list and building operations training
  • Demonstrate advanced problem-solving capabilities in finding ways to overcome constant obstacles, issues, and conflicts on the job


Education:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or relevant work experience


Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience required on construction projects. Large-scale commercial project experience is preferred.
  • Experience in building high-rise residential, mixed-use, or higher education projects successfully from start to finish.
  • 2+ years leading, developing, and motivating teams of internal/external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience leading field operations and communicating plans effectively across multiple audiences


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of the construction process, including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, and personnel
  • OSHA 30-hour certification / eligibility
  • Working knowledge of construction management software platforms and tools, including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft, and P6
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety and building regulations (i.e., OSHA)
  • Alignment to Moriarty standards of self-motivation, results-oriented, adaptability, team builder, accountable, ethical, innovative, resilient, relationship builder.


Physical Requirements:

  • This position will require moderate physical activity
  • Driving between sites, climbing stairs and ladders, walking on rough terrain, standing for extended periods of time


Work Environment:

  • Work onsite, outdoors, in all weather conditions. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. The employee will be regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes overall accountability for jobsite safety
  • Assumes overall accountability for meeting contract requirements
  • Verifies the accuracy of project financial forecast, notice provisions, and billings to meet contract requirements and resolve potential claims and deviations

  • Oversees schedule planning and execution of multiple projects; accountable for the management of schedule risks that lead to erosion and provides guidance in strategies and actions to prevent risk
  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the local market areas and profiles to create and lead a networking strategy
  • Partners with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies, client capture plans and account plans. Optimizes profit levers and gross profit margin tactics to achieve performance targets on new sales. Leads opportunities to strengthen client, partner, and industry relationships that help position our firm as the ”Builder of Choice”

The Opportunity

  • Communicate and champion Vituity’s purpose, mission, vision, values, culture of brilliance, and strategy, ensuring widespread understanding and alignment.
  • Assure compliance with all Vituity requirements and policies and communicate those requirements to all Vituity providers.
  • Monitor current and future healthcare and economic trends. Assess their potential impact on the practice and local geographic region.
  • Strategize and execute a comprehensive annual practice management plan that sets clear goals and objectives, continuously surpassing expectations and delivering value to patients, clients, providers, and the local community.
  • Spearhead the local site's administrative management team, meticulously selecting team members and aligning their responsibilities to drive the achievement of practice goals.
  • Demonstrate unwavering mastery of Vituity policies and fiduciary obligations, ensuring strict adherence from all providers.
  • Exemplify Vituity's Partnership Principles by fostering open communication and transparent decision-making, such as conducting annual reviews of administrative stipends and scheduling preferences.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of hospital expectations and rigorously uphold compliance with all contract terms.
  • Monitor operational and quality metrics and implement Vituity initiatives and operational programs to continually improve performance.
  • Continuously assess and improve operational processes, leveraging technology and best practices to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Monitor site financial performance and identify and create new areas for growth and revenue.
  • Develop an expertise and understanding of the yearly budget, financial performance measures and monitoring systems, and billing and reimbursement issues / systems.
  • Improve patient census and billing practice statistics to optimize reimbursement for the practice.
  • Maintain awareness and interactions with payers such as significant IPA’s, Medical Groups, Foundations, ACO’s associated with the hospital / health system.
  • Execute efficient recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for new providers, ensuring the practice is staffed with highly qualified professionals.
  • Provide learning and development opportunities and mentoring to providers and staff to enhance their clinical acumen, leadership skills and overall professional growth.
  • Evaluate the performance of physicians and PA / NPs in compliance with Vituity policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor physician competencies with progressive improvement using appropriate metrics. Counsel, suspend, or remove staff from the schedule as necessary in compliance with Vituity polices / guidelines.
  • Actively participate in contract negotiations in conjunction with the Regional Director.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships with hospital leadership, nursing staff and other healthcare team members.
  • Ensure practice is appropriately represented and demonstrates their value through leadership roles (as applicable) and/or participation with hospital management, medical staff leadership, Medical Executive, Medical Staff and other hospital committees, and within the local community.

 

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Licensed physician as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school and completion of residency through an accredited residency program required.
  • Maintain membership and privileges on Hospital’s medical staff and comply with and abide by the bylaws, rules and regulations, and the policies and procedures of Hospital’s medical staff where services are being provided required.
  • Physician Partnership status required.
  • Five (5) years or more experience in a leadership role required.
  • Candidates wanting to work in an academic setting with current residents desired.

Holy Cross Hospital – Silver Spring, Maryland

  • 400+ bed hospital with a 46-bed closed ICU.
  • Level III Trauma Center, STEMI Receiving Center, and Stroke Center.
  • 15-18 encounters per day and 9 admits per night on average.
  • 24/7 ICU coverage including rapid responses, stroke alerts, and no procedures.

A private family in Arlington, Virginia is seeking a full-time Private Educator to provide holistic academic, emotional, and social support for an elementary-aged child with diagnosed learning differences. The ideal candidate will develop a hands-on, project-based curriculum while fostering confidence, independence, and a love of learning in a nurturing, one-on-one homeschool setting.


This role is suited for an experienced, adaptable teaching professional who is warm, flexible, and committed to supporting a child with learning differences. The candidate must collaborate effectively with existing tutors and provide thoughtful, low-friction daily reporting. Discretion, professionalism, and a positive presence within a private household are essential.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop or adapt a dyslexia-friendly, hands-on, project-based curriculum for Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education, minimizing worksheets
  • Provide one-on-one academic, emotional, and social support tailored to the child’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with the existing tutor overseeing ELA and Math using the Orton-Gillingham method
  • Foster confidence, independence, and curiosity through a nurturing and flexible teaching style
  • Maintain daily written reports summarizing academic progress, mood, and activities
  • Support enrichment activities, projects, and informal learning experiences

Qualifications

  • Must have Home Schooling and Private Educating experience.
  • Experienced teacher with strong classroom background, ideally in 1st or 2nd grade
  • Montessori or project-based learning experience highly valued
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction for children with learning differences
  • Warm, nurturing, flexible, and confidence-building approach to teaching
  • Ability to maintain discretion and uphold household protocols
