Gastroenterology locums coverage opportunity in South Carolina, combining inpatient consults, endoscopy, and clinic follow-ups in a structured 7-day block.


Highlights

  • Block-style coverage: one 7-day stretch per month (24-hour call coverage during the block)
  • Mix of inpatient and outpatient work with adults only

Practice Setting

  • Hospital-based call coverage with scheduled procedures in the endoscopy lab
  • Clinic component included to follow patients seen inpatient and/or after procedures
  • Adult patient population only


Schedule

  • One 7-day stretch per month, structured Monday-to-Monday coverage
  • 24-hour hospital call during the assignment block
  • Scheduled endoscopy time: half-day block(s) in the endo lab
  • Clinic coverage: typically 2-3 half days during the week


Cases and Procedures

  • Rounding and consults as they arise
  • Scheduled and emergent GI procedures
  • Required procedures: EGD, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy
  • Typical volumes: clinic averages 3 patients/hour; half-day endo block averages 8 cases/day


Support Staff

  • Clinic support includes 1 PA plus either 1 LPN or 1 MA
  • Endo team includes 1 RN, 1 CRNA, and 1 tech
  • Inpatient consult support from an NP Monday-Friday (7am-1pm), including initial consults while you're in endo or clinic

Minimum Qualifications

- Current dental hygienist license in South Carolina and an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene (where required)
- Excellent working knowledge of dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, dental patient screening and medical history documentation
- CPR Certification

- 1+ years of clinical experience
- Experience using Velscope, Diagnodent, digital scanner, digital x-rays and electronic medical record systems
