Job Summary

The Research Engineer II will support and lead semiconductor fabrication, advanced packaging, and heterogeneous integration activities within the IMS Cleanroom Facilities. This role involves hands-on process development, tool ownership, and research execution across TSV/TGV processing, electroplating, wafer thinning, planarization, CMP, and MEMS/sensor fabrication in a multi-user research environment.


The position supports collaborative research initiatives involving materials development, interconnect technologies, high-density integration, and system-level packaging solutions for next-generation electronic and sensor platforms.



Responsibilities

Support heterogeneous integration research through materials selection, interconnect process development, and multi-layer device integration.

Develop and optimize process flows for TSV/TGV fabrication, copper electroplating and RDL formation, wafer thinning (grinding), planarization and CMP, advanced packaging integration, and MEMS/sensor fabrication.

Design and execute experimental studies, analyze process data, and establish stable, documented baselines to ensure reproducibility and reliability.

Serve as technical owner for fabrication and packaging tools (e.g., DRIE/ICP systems, electroplating systems, grinding and CMP tools, and thin-film deposition systems)

Train and support academic and industry users on cleanroom processes and equipment.

Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and coordinate maintenance and continuous improvement efforts.

Collaborate with faculty, students, and industry partners on prototype development, sponsored research activities, and technical deliverables.



Required Qualifications

For Rank of Research Engineer II

  • A master's degree in science, engineering or related area, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A master's degree in science, engineering or related area, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a bachelor's degree, or
  • Doctoral degree


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in semiconductor fabrication and advanced packaging process development.
Hands-on expertise in several of the following areas: DRIE/ICP etching, thin-film deposition (ALD/PVD/CVD), electroplating, TSV/TGV processing, wafer thinning, planarization, CMP, or packaging assembly.
Experience with high-aspect-ratio via processing and copper fill optimization.
Background in heterogeneous integration or wafer-level packaging.
Experience in MEMS or sensor fabrication.
Prior experience in an academic cleanroom or semiconductor R&D environment.
Demonstrated ability to support research projects and contribute to technical documentation, reports, or publications.

The Mission Critical Preconstruction Director is responsible for leading all preconstruction efforts for complex, high-reliability projects from concept through construction start. This role partners closely with owners, designers, and internal operations teams to develop accurate budgets, schedules, logistics plans, and risk assessments that support successful project delivery.

Preconstruction Leadership

About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. Job Summary

The Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory ( ) seeks self-motivated and talented individuals to participate in and support operations of a research laboratory. Our mission is to develop and translate approaches, devices, algorithms, and agents with clinical impact based on a synergistic combination of biomedical imaging, image-guided therapy, and bionanotechnology. Overall, we are a collaborative, full-spectrum research group leading the discovery, development, and integration of biomedical imaging technologies and theranostic agents for both fundamental research and clinical applications.

The Ultrasound Imaging and Therapeutics Research Laboratory is part of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), and the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University School of Medicine.

The research engineer will provide technical oversight of the research laboratory operations focused on in-vitro/preclinical/clinical imaging. The responsibilities will include daily interactions with graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical collaborators, and other researchers, technical and other support to research staff, and direct reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Designing and fabricating electro-mechanical systems;
  • Facilitate construction and maintenance of custom lab equipment (ultrasound transducers and imaging systems, laser systems, motorized linear axis and robotic positioners, etc.);
  • Maintain instrumentation, implement best practices and training;
  • Serve as a technical source for the researchers in the laboratory;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a Research Engineer II position. This role supports sponsored research in the modeling and simulation of turbulent reacting multiphase flows in propulsion and power systems.

The successful candidate will conduct high-fidelity computational research using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) to investigate complex turbulent reacting flows in aerospace propulsion applications, including gas turbines, scramjets, and liquid rocket systems. Research activities are closely aligned with externally funded projects and include simulation development, model validation, data analysis, reporting, and dissemination of results.

This is a full-time research faculty appointment contingent upon sponsored funding.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-fidelity LES and DNS simulations of geometrically complex turbulent reacting flows relevant to propulsion and power systems

  • Develop, implement, and validate computational models and numerical methods within specialized research codes

  • Optimize and execute simulation cases on advanced high-performance computing platforms

  • Process, analyze, and interpret large simulation datasets

  • Support sponsored research deliverables, including milestone reporting and technical documentation

  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at technical conferences

  • Contribute to proposal development and expansion of externally funded research programs

  • Assist in mentoring graduate students and supporting broader research program activities



Required Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering , and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree.

We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Data Engineer (Hybrid) on our Information Technology team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a Sr. Data Engineer, you will play a key role in implementing
and maintaining AMA's enterprise data platform to support analytics,
interoperability, and responsible AI adoption. This role partners closely with
platform engineering, data governance, data science, IT security, and business
stakeholders to deliver highquality, reliable, and secure data products. This
role contributes to AMA's modern lakehouse architecture, optimizing data
operations, and embedding governance and quality standards into engineering
workflows. This role serves as a
senior technical contributor within the team-providing mentorship to junior
engineers and implementing engineering best practices within the data platform function,
in alignment with architectural direction set by leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Engineering & AI Enablement

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and
    ETL/ELT workflows supporting analytics, operational reporting, and AI/ML use
    cases.
  • Implement best practice patterns for ingestion,
    transformation, modeling, and orchestration within a modern lakehouse
    environment (e.g., Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake).
  • Develop highperformance
    data models and curated datasets with strong attention to quality, usability,
    and interoperability; create reusable engineering components and automation.
  • Collaborate with the Architecture Team, the Data
    Platform Lead, and federated IT teams to optimize storage, compute, and
    architectural patterns for performance and costefficiency.
  • Build model-ready data sets and feature
    pipelines to support AI/ ML use cases; serve as a technical coordination point
    supporting business units' AI-related infrastructure needs.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and AI Working
    Group to operationalize models responsibly and maintain ongoing monitoring
    signals.

Governance, Quality & Compliance

  • Embed data governance, metadata standards,
    lineage tracking, and quality controls directly into engineering workflows;
    ensure technical implementation and alignment within engineering workflows.
  • Work with the Data Governance Lead and business
    stakeholders to operationalize stewardship, classification, validation,
    retention, and access standards.
  • Implement privacybydesign and securitybydesign
    principles, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory
    obligations.
  • Maintain documentation for pipelines, datasets,
    and transformations to support transparency and audit requirements.

Platform Reliability, Observability & Optimization

  • Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline failures,
    performance bottlenecks, data anomalies, and platformlevel issues.
  • Implement observability tooling, alerts,
    logging, and dashboards to ensure endtoend reliability.
  • Support cost governance by optimizing compute
    resources, refining job schedules, and advising on efficient architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Data Platform Lead on
    scaling, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and environment management.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand
    data needs, translate them into engineering requirements, and deliver
    fit-for-purpose data solutions; share and apply best practices and emerging
    technologies within assigned initiatives.
  • Work with IT Security and Legal/ Compliance to
    ensure platform and datasets meet risk and regulatory standards.

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight
    for staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating
    employee performance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Responsible for developing staff knowledge and
    skills to support career development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience and HS diploma/equivalent education required.
  2. 5+ years of experience in data engineering within cloud environments
  3. Experience in people management preferred.
  4. Demonstrated hands-on experience with modern data platforms (Databricks preferred).
  5. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data
    transformation frameworks.
  6. Experience designing and operationalizing
    ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration workflows (Airflow, Databricks Workflows), and
    CI/CD processes.
  7. Solid understanding of data modeling,
    structured/unstructured data patterns, and schema design.
  8. Experience implementing governance and quality
    controls: metadata, lineage, validation, stewardship workflows.
  9. Working knowledge of cloud architecture, IAM,
    networking, and security best practices.
  10. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across
    technical and business teams.
  11. Exposure to AI/ML engineering concepts, feature
    stores, model monitoring, or MLOps patterns.
  12. Experience with infrastructureascode
    (Terraform, CloudFormation) or DevOps tooling.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $115,523.42-$150,972.44. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
