Who You Are

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, and ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.

This role combines day-to-day operational management with long-term strategic planning to support company growth and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of custom automation systems.

This role requires a mix of strategic thinking, practical know-how, and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.


Your Key Responsibilities are in these Four Areas


Operations Management

  • Lead and manage all manufacturing activities, including mechanical assembly, panel building, machining, and final equipment testing and runoff. Establish work priorities and timelines to meet delivery dates and quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate inventory, Bill of Materials tracking, equipment resource and subcontractor services to meet project demands.
  • Oversee facility maintenance which includes creating a clean and organized shop environment, curb appeal, buildings and grounds, equipment, vehicles, and maintenance.


Safety & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and training programs in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for workplace safety initiatives, employee trainings and compliance efforts.


Strategic Planning & Process Improvement

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term manufacturing strategies aligned with company growth objectives. Provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Assess equipment and workforce needs to support future growth, including capacity planning and capital investments.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce lean manufacturing practices, automation, or new technologies.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of skilled builders, technicians, machinists, and shop personnel.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Operations will lead all day-to-day manufacturing operations and serve as the CEO's operational right hand. This is a turnaround leadership role, one that demands both shop-floor credibility and boardroom presence. The right candidate will drive sustainable profitability through operational discipline, process standardization, and cultural transformation.

This is not a role for a manager who delegates from a distance. It requires a hands-on executive who leads by example, builds trust at every level of the organization, and has a proven record of getting results.


What We're Looking For

  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership, including 10+ years in senior operations roles
  • Demonstrated success leading operational turnarounds in custom-order, high-mix (job shop) manufacturing environments
  • Experience in engineered-to-order manufacturing, metal fabrication, and assembly operations
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proven ability to lead within a UAW environment
  • A "blue-collar executive" equally effective in motivating hourly associates and presenting to ownership
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or management; MBA a plus

Job Overview:

To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.-based subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky, LLC (CATK) is seeking multiple full-time and dedicated Manufacturing Process Engineers to join our local team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for enhancing product quality, optimizing production processes, and supporting the introduction of new products and materials. These roles require a proactive approach to identifying and solving production issues, maintaining high standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction.


Essential Functions:

  1. Analyze and enhance the yield and utilization rates of quality products.
  2. Strive to improve the First Time Yield (FTY) rate, ensuring products meet quality standards on the first attempt.
  3. Develop and implement effective monitoring systems for mass production processes.
  4. Conduct thorough analysis to detect and address anomalies promptly.
  5. Evaluate risks associated with the introduction of new products, materials, processes, and equipment.
  6. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring smooth integration.
  7. Implement corrective measures to address and resolve batch quality issues.
  8. Analyze customer complaints thoroughly to identify root causes.
  9. Develop and implement improvement plans to address and prevent recurrence of issues.
  10. Provide on-site support for mass production customers.
  11. Ensure compliance with quality standards and address any issues that arise during audits.
  12. Maintain an organized file system for all relevant documentation. Ensure all records are up-to-date and accessible for reference and audit purposes.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher in electrochemical engineering, engineering, materials science, or related fields.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in process engineering or a related field; proven experience within a Automotive Batteries manufacturing environment preferred.
  3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  4. Proficient in various engineering techniques including Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and the 8D problem-solving process.
  5. Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite, as well as data analysis tools like Minitab and JMP.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction and support.
  7. Proficiency in documentation and maintaining organized records.
  8. Ability to maintain a full-time work schedule with regular in-person attendance is required for this position.
  9. Ability to interact professionally with individuals of varied backgrounds and skill levels
