About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join a leading manufacturing facility in the automotive/advanced manufacturing sector. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and support automation and maintenance teams while maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial control systems. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and innovation of the plant’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial automation systems, including Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, vision/barcode systems, and Fanuc robotics.
  • Modify, test, and improve manufacturing methods and equipment; collaborate with vendors as needed.
  • Troubleshoot automation devices such as servo drives, VFDs, barcode readers, and I/O systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for processes, utilities, and safety equipment.
  • Support and mentor maintenance, production, and engineering teams.
  • Coordinate and implement automation updates for new products and production changes.
  • Manage communication protocols and troubleshoot issues on Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, and other networks.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF/TS16949 and applicable customer and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through training, workshops, and professional networking.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial control systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi), GE Fanuc, CompactLogix, Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Functional Block Diagram, and SCADA systems (Ignition or similar).
  • Experience with PLC/DCS configuration, machine control standards, and automation troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical documentation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to evaluate and upgrade existing building/automation systems.
  • Experience coordinating projects involving engineers, technicians, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for training and team collaboration.
