This job acts as a supervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit. Evaluates nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising care provided by the healthcare team of licensed nurses, registered nurses, and patient care technicians. Serves as a resource to staff for patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions and facilitates problem resolution through collaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. In collaboration with the immediate leader and other supervisory staff, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses and evaluating staff performance for team members within their span of control. Required - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.
Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in nursing. 

Required – 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse
2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting.
Preferred – 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse.

Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
Proficient in indicators of operational success such as unit productivity, expense management, regulatory requirements, and quality indicators.
Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.

Excellent time management skills and ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
Provides direct, hands-on care for critically ill or injured patients in pre-and postoperative medical settings.
Assesses the risks and benefits of proposed medical interventions, rendering life-saving treatment in emergency situations.
Organizes, plans, supervises, and provides coordinated patient care within the unit.
Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses and technicians.
Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice.
Manages conflict on assigned shifts and collaborates with other supervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed.
Collaborates with patient quality, safety, and experience leadership and promotes patient quality, safety, and experience processes.
Supports daily clinical operations on the unit by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and appropriate clinical supplies and resources are available for patient care.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.

Work Experience
Required - Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in state of practice.
Preferred - IV Therapy Credentials.
Ability to demonstrate good judgement, work with and maintain confidential information, and working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care through data gathering, planning, and evaluation.
Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served.
Communicates effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members and co-workers to ensure a quality patient experience.
Adapts to rapid change in a positive manner throughout the day as needs of the unit / department change.
Manages personal professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
