Job Description Position Title: Senior Backup Storge Engineer Duration: 12+ months contract with possible conversion and extension Location: Downey, CA, 90242 (Hybrid) Position Description A Senior Backup Storage Engineer is responsible for leading and/or working on the most complex IT infrastructure, modification, installation, testing, implementation, and support of new or existing system hardware and software products.

The Senior Backup Storage Engineer will plan, install, configure, test, implement and manage core system hardware and software products in support of an organization’s IT architecture and business needs.

Special organizational or functional industry position titles for backup storage engineers include, but are not limited to, Backup/Recovery Engineer, Storage Engineer, Backup Engineer, Backup Administrator, and Storage Administrator.

The Senior Backup Storage Engineer, in maintenance and support of various backup and storage systems, (that includes CommVault, Dell/EMC, IBM, NetApp, and Pure Storage), is responsible for the administration, installation, configuration, and maintenance of all backup and storage systems to include creating CommVault backup jobs for Linux, UNIX, Windows hosts, Network Attached Storage (NAS) NDMP, databases (DB2, SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL), masking/zoning/provisioning of storage to UNIX/Windows/VMware servers, performing data recoveries, and general troubleshooting.

Backup Storage Engineer will be responsible for all data backup/recovery support for cloud service providers (Amazon Web Services
- AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform – GCP, IBM Cloud), planning and upgrading the systems on a regular basis, checking the health of all the systems, and making necessary changes as required.

They will analyze issues reported by internal/external teams and making necessary recommendations; planning and designing systems architecture; working with customers to test applications after changes; upgrade hardware in a timely manner with a minimum downtime window; evaluate new applications software technologies; and/or ensuring the security products are patched on a regular basis.

Skills Required The Sr.

Backup Storage Engineer will possess in-depth understanding, knowledge and experience of CommVault Complete Data Protection; VMware data protection and recovery using VADP (VMware vStorage API for Data Protection); be proficient in configuring storage arrays with business continuity solutions; perform upgrades; execute storage migration and data center consolidation projects; and administer Pure Storage solutions, including both hardware and software components.

Backup Storage Engineer will have a comprehensive understanding of IBM storage systems, including configuration and management; be skilled in managing Dell storage systems, with capabilities in setup, troubleshooting, and optimization; ability in NetApp storage solutions, such as ONTAP, SnapMirror, and SnapVault; scripting languages, such as PowerShell and Python, for automating storage management tasks and workflows; proficiency with UNIX systems (including IBM AIX, Linux, and HP-UX) and TCP/IP, along with administering networking hardware; and the ability to design, deploy, and manage scalable and reliable cloud solutions across various platforms, including AWS, Azure, GCP, and IBM Cloud.

They will possess strong oral and written communication skills, effective time management, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.

Experience Required This classification requires, within the last five (5) years, a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a backup administrator to a data backup system, similar to CommVault, including configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments; three (3) years of experience working with storage solutions from Dell/EMC, IBM, NetApp, and Pure Storage, covering both midrange and enterprise-class storage arrays; and two (2) years of experience using, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud-based backup, servers, and storage systems in enterprise settings.

Education Required This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field.

Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Job Details BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in power electronics; 8+ years of relevant industry experience required.

A PhD is considered an asset.

Deep understanding of power inverter operation and design, including both hardware and control aspects.

Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems and their application in industrial and high-power environments.

Position Overview: The Utilities Coordinator III works closely with the BIM Manager and the Los Angeles Community Colleges District to implement BIM on the BuildLACCD program.

Position Description and Functions The Utilities Coordinator III/VDC for Build-LACCD is responsible for: • Monitoring and reconciling the design, construction, and facilities submittal data related to underground utilities.

• Collection and QA/QC of CMMS Data for Bond impacted facilities and infrastructure.

This may include, but is not limited to, the following activities: o Review and upload equipment data from completed As-Builts to CMMS.

o Review and upload GIS spatial data (building spaces, hardscape/softscape, landscape, infrastructure and security features) to CMMS.

• Managing and maintaining as-built information related to Bond impacted projects.

This may include, but is not limited to, researching data or documents in SharePoint, DocView or another accessible data source, to produce files or reports such as: o CAD/BIM As-Built drawings.

o Underground utilities CAD database • BuildLACCD CADD standards compliance review.

o Utility Infrastructure (ASCE 38-02 and Underground Utility Standard compliance) o Spatial Reports, demonstrated in plans or tabular format.

• Supporting As-Built/M&O data delivery review at Ops Closeout for current Bond projects.

This may include, but is not limited to, the following activities: o BuildLACCD projects o District wide projects (Infrastructure, security, energy, stormwater) o Develop record utility maps of Bond impacted facilities and infrastructure.

• SharePoint record drawings database Support for BuildLACCD and LACCD o Research data • Provide BIM Submittal tracking o Reviewing underground utilities submittals for conformance to BuildLACCD and LACCD standards o BIM submittal coordination between college project teams and design/construction teams.

• Work with BuildLACCD and LACCD teams to develop BIM and GIS scope of services as requested.

• Provide support as requested to BIM team with Revit, AutoCAD, SharePoint, Document Control, ESRI and closeout.

• Review utilities and BIM deliverables for ArcGIS online utility infrastructure integration.

• This position requires site visits to verify field conditions on active construct sites.

This involves walking sites to physically observe work being put in place and document underground utilities and other field conditions for active construction on all campuses.

• The field visits requires the use of, including but not limited to, LIDAR scanning, GPR surveying, GPS surveying and photography of existing site conditions.

• Travel to all BuildLACCD and LACCD project sites to provide QAQC and field data collection is required on an as needed basis.

• The position involves approximately 70% office computer work and 30% field site visits.

However, this percentage may vary depending on the number of active construction projects each month.

• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with field construction staff to facilitate data gathering.

• Must collect field data as appropriate for integration with the BuildLACCD utility database (both electronic and hard copy).

• Maintain communications with field teams to be informed on the status of all active projects.

• Site walks and spot checking of project sites.

Including but not limited to LIDAR scanning, GPR surveying, GPS surveying and photography.

• Travel to all BuildLACCD and LACCD project sites to provide QAQC and field collection.

Minimum Requirements • Minimum 5 years’ recent experience in working in Architecture or Construction Management, with a specific focus on utilities • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or closely related degree.

Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum states above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

• Advanced geographic information systems concepts, principles, practices and techniques, including computer mapping and attribute conversions, transfer, manipulation and analysis.

• Experience knowledge to perform modeling and coordination task within AutoCAD, Revit and Map 3D • Experience knowledge to perform data management task within SharePoint, BIM 360 Docs and Bluebeam.

• Experience with LIDAR scanning, GPR surveying, GPS surveying and photography Preferred Requirements • Experience working with Design and Construction Teams.

• Strong knowledge of BIM and Utility Infrastructure workflows.

• Experience knowledge to perform field survey data collection and coordination tasks within AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, ArcGIS Data Collector.
