Our Canonsburg, PA location is currently seeking to fill a Systems Engineer – Automation position.
Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
Classification and base pay rate will be dependent upon skillset and prior experience.
Position Description: Our Systems Engineers perform engineering, specification, design, testing and commissioning of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) and Human Machine Interface (HMI) based automation control systems that integrate hardware and software for large industrial project applications, specifically in the metals industry.
Systems Engineers also provide technical solutions, process know-how, customer training, and service support on large industrial processes, including electrical, mechanical, and metallurgical processes, for rolling and processing of metals for industrial customers, domestic and international.
Position Overview: Designs complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
Develops material specification, schematic preparation, and the appropriate follow-up Generates recommendations for productivity improvement and cost reduction Guides technical knowledge interchange for both processes and applications to system design Essential Duties & Responsibilities: As a Systems Engineer with the Primetals Technologies Engineering Team, the candidate will work in various stages of projects that will contribute to excellence in hardware, product, and software developments for our customer.
The candidate will participate in projects like: Defining solutions for upgrades and improvements in customer plants Collaborating with customer teams to identify their challenge areas, develop solutions, and deliver project results that exceed expectations Developing recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, quality enhancements, cost reduction, and improvement in customer satisfaction Overseeing multiple projects within your assigned area of expertise Engineering, designing, and integrating automation and control systems for the metals industry Performing other duties as assigned Required Skills/Knowledge, Education and Experience: BS/AS in related engineering or technology degree Apply advanced skills and a comprehensive knowledge of engineering to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently Strong critical-thinking skills with the ability to resolve high-impact, complex, and cross-functional issues Perform work with both domestic and international teams Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience Required Travel – 60% Primetals Technologies offers a full range of benefits starting with first day of employment.

Assistant Project Manager

A globally recognized Architecture, Engineering, and Construction firm is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their downtown Chicago office. This firm delivers complex, high profile projects across the United States and internationally, with a diverse portfolio including industrial, residential, commercial, education/public, mixed use, and hospitality developments valued up to $200M+.
This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of large scale projects while working within a fully integrated AEC delivery model alongside architecture, engineering, and construction teams.
The Opportunity
- The Assistant Project Manager will support senior project leadership in the planning and execution of construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role will assist with coordination across project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- You will gain exposure to complex projects across multiple sectors while developing your leadership and project management capabilities within a collaborative AEC environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and execution of construction projects valued up to $200M+.
- Assist in managing projects from preconstruction through project closeout.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, project engineers, and subcontractors to maintain project progress.
- Work closely with internal architectural and engineering teams within the integrated AEC environment.
- Assist with project financial tracking including budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, and change management.
- Help maintain project schedules, documentation, and reporting.
- Support communication between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Participate in project meetings and assist in tracking action items and deliverables.
- Ensure project documentation complies with safety standards, contractual requirements, and company procedures.
Qualifications
- 2 to 6 years of construction project management experience.
- Experience supporting commercial, mixed use, residential, industrial, hospitality, or institutional construction projects preferred.
- Exposure to projects valued $10M to $100M+.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Ability to support project financials, schedules, and documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
