Doherty Staffing Solutions is hiring a Controls Technologist / Controls Engineer for Polaris in Osceola, WI. What You’ll Do as a Controls Technologist / Controls Engineer:
- Install control systems on new and existing manufacturing equipment
- Perform programming changes to support, maintain, and improve production processes
- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and fieldbus networks
- Analyze and recommend automation improvements to enhance production efficiency
- Create, modify, and maintain documentation for controls applications and electrical schematics
- Train production and maintenance personnel on control system operation and basic troubleshooting
- Assist engineers with equipment design, tooling development, and long‑range process planning
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, safety guidelines, and OSHA requirements
What You Need to Bring to the Role:
- AS or BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of industrial controls experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with:
- – Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, MicroLogix), Allen Bradley PanelView Plus HMIs, and Allen Bradley VFDs
- – Cognex, Keyence, or similar vision systems
- – Ethernet/IP and DeviceNet troubleshooting
- – AutoCAD for creating/modifying schematics
- – Industrial equipment design and electrical panel building
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable transportation to the Osceola, WI Polaris facility

Job Description
The Control Technologist / Engineer will be responsible for technical support, programming, installation, and optimization of industrial controls used throughout the manufacturing process. This includes working closely with maintenance teams, production staff, and engineering groups to drive automation initiatives and maintain equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission control systems on new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Perform PLC and HMI program modifications to support process improvements and equipment performance.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend automation-based improvements.
- Train maintenance technicians on basic PLC and controls troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the design and development of new tooling, equipment, and long-range engineering plans.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair controls-related production equipment issues.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for controls systems, including operation and maintenance guides.
- Provide guidance to production and maintenance personnel on control system operations and programming.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of industrial controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Allen-Bradley PLCs: ControlLogix, MicroLogix
- Allen-Bradley HMIs: PanelView Plus
- Allen-Bradley VFDs
- Troubleshooting/commissioning fieldbus networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet)
- Creating/modifying electrical schematics using AutoCAD
- Industrial equipment troubleshooting and design
- Electrical panel building
- Experience with Cognex, Keyence, or similar machine vision/inspection systems
- Advanced knowledge of industrial automation best practices
- Demonstrated ability to train others in controls operation and maintenance

Maintain minimal scrap and rework rates while meeting production standards.
Follow all safety, ISO, and quality procedures.
Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of CNC lathe experience, including machine setups.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and tolerances.
Experience using precision measuring tools and gauges.
Ability to independently set up and run complex parts with minimal supervision.
Understanding of cutting tool speeds, feeds, and tool wear.
Experience troubleshooting machining issues and improving processes.
Preferred Experience Conversational programming experience.
Experience with Mazatrol, G-Code, and/or Fusion 360.
Familiarity with Haas and Okuma CNC machines.
