Working within an agile shared services team, this position enables stable infrastructure for applications and participates in maintaining repeatable processes through automation of build, deployment, and proactive monitoring activities.
The candidate must understand developing trends in hybrid cloud technologies and practically apply solutions to meet stated business needs.
The role drives cloud technology operations and also requires knowledge of on-premise datacenter resources.
This position requires the ability to make recommendations based on solid technical acumen, assist project teams as required, and provide third-tier support for issue resolution.
The Cloud Engineer has subject matter experience in two or more of the following areas: Cloud Computing, Cloud Storage, Virtual Networks, Automation/Infrastructure as Code, Secure Networking, and DevSecOps in an Azure or AWS cloud environment.
Responsibilities: Establish, monitor, and maintain Azure cloud environment, systems hardware, operating systems, and related network and security infrastructure to ensure reliable operations Monitor Azure maintenance and outages, assess impact, and develop strategies to minimize impact Collaborate with developers and scrum teams on compute resource needs, expansion, or new feature deployment Ensure accurate network and system capacity projections to prevent service degradation Build and automate cloud infrastructure using current methods, templates, and automation toolsets Optimize network infrastructure for IaaS, SaaS, PaaS and other cloud applications Produce and maintain documentation for installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of cloud and on-premises infrastructure Research connectivity, performance, and security issues to determine root cause and implement solutions Participate in design and implementation of architectural roadmaps for hybrid cloud infrastructure Design technical infrastructure and cloud processes, integrate solutions into existing environments, consult on development projects Coordinate with service providers and internal teams to ensure timely resolution of infrastructure issues Participate in on-call rotation and be available for duties outside normal working hours Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field required Work Experience: Required: 5+ years working in computing or network infrastructure 3+ years’ experience in a cloud environment, preferably Azure in a cloud network engineer, administrator, and/or DevOps role Demonstrated experience building and operating cloud infrastructure Experience in automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) and management of on‑premises infrastructure and cloud-hosted services including VMs, networks, and automation tools Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Azure DevOps) Ability to deploy through automation and translate from or contribute to Azure application design architectures Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and DevOps processes Experience with load balancing platforms Preferred Experience: Microsoft Windows Server (2012–2019) Azure or AWS cloud infrastructure Securing and monitoring cloud resources Linux/Unix administration Cisco Route/Switch platforms Palo Alto or other cloud-based firewall technologies Certifications (Preferred): MCSE Azure certifications AWS certifications Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP) Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to recognize, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues independently Strong critical thinking and performance tuning skills Ability to document and distribute system reports Ability to work effectively within a team Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong customer service focus Interested in hearing more?
