Engine Operability Lead

Engine Performance

Position Responsibilities :

  • Analyzes steady-state engine performance and detailed thermodynamic cycle data, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of gas turbine engine thermodynamics and performance characteristics.

  • Assesses engine operation across various conditions and certify operating characteristics, applying knowledge of regulatory compliance processes (FAA & EASA).

  • Analyzes and communicates engine performance impacts on airplane subsystem performance, including proficiency in calculating in-flight thrust and understanding its implications.

  • Collaborates with disciplines across the airplane (e.g. Aero, Environmental Controls, Mech/Hyd, and Thermal) to provide engine performance expertise on assessing cross-functional system impacts.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and contributes to certification documentation, showcasing familiarity with means-of-compliance.

  • Conducts data analysis and risk assessments for flight tests, utilizing strong analytical skills to support flight test planning and performance evaluations.

  • Coordinates with engine supplier(s) on engine/airplane performance throughout an airplane program's lifecycle.

  • Supports product improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team, committing to ongoing education in emerging technologies and methodologies in engine performance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

  • 1+ years experience in propulsion and thermodynamics

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education (Master's, PhD) and experience.

  • Foundational knowledge of gas turbine engine operation and thermodynamics

Job Description

The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Liaison Engineering Organization is seeking Consultant (Level 5) Liaison Engineers to support operations in Everett, Seattle, Auburn, and or Renton Washington . We are looking for a proactive individual who can make prompt engineering decisions and who want to go beyond their desk and into the factory for hands on engineering.

This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills as the candidate will be partnering closely with production personnel. The candidate will be the engineering representative on the factory floor transforming design into reality.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Analyzes, conducts root cause analysis and develops dispositions for production non-conformances.
  • Applies knowledge of Boeing design principles to assess and resolve product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
  • Applies engineering principles to research technical, operational and quality issues in support of executing final engineering solutions.
  • Identifies documents, analyzes reported problems and communicates deviations that could impact design intent and safety; recommends and manages resolution.
  • Develops and implements product/process improvements.
  • Supports Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and participates in design reviews.
  • Represents the engineering community from initial build through the production and post-production environment.

This position is fully onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations. This position involves daily exposure to factory environment which includes stairs, trip hazards, high noise areas, chemical hazards (breathing and handling), and entering airplanes during their many stages of build.

This position participates in the approximately 9-month Boeing Company Training Rotation Program, which may involve assignments to the first, second, or third shift, as well as weekend or daily overtime. The specific requirements for shift assignments and overtime vary between sites and are typically covered on a rotation basis. Additionally, there may be travel involved between Boeing Puget Sound sites during the training rotation.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelor's or Masters of Science Degree from an ABET OR ABET equivalent accredited course of study in Engineering

The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is looking for an Electrophysics Engineer - Antennas & Propagation to join our Test and Evaluation team in the Antenna Test Center in Kent, WA .

The Antenna Test Center is home to the largest fully welded/shielded anechoic chamber in the Boeing Company, a Near Field Scanner and an Electromagnetics Lab.

BT&E is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior level Electrophysics Engineers.

This position will develop test plans/procedures to measure antenna patterns, peak gain and other antenna parameters as requested by customers of the facility. The selected candidate will be responsible for evaluating range performance and planning strategic capital investments to improve lab capability to meet future customer needs.

The candidate should have strong fundamental knowledge of antenna design, RF and electromagnetic theory. The candidate should have experience using RF test equipment including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, etc. This position is responsible for maintaining the lab schedule prioritizing day-to-day activities in support of lab operation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Test antenna and radome parameters using VNAs and automated systems

  • Interpret and calculate antenna parameters from measured data

  • Write scripts in VBScript to automate testing with antenna positioning system

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is looking for an Associate or Mid-Level SAR Signal & Image Processing Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join the Kent Space SEIT team located in Kent, WA (Seattle, WA) . This position will focus on developing radar analysis and algorithms in a mission-critical environment that directly empowers our defensive capabilities. You will develop and validate requirements for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems, perform trade studies, design and run tests to verify performance, support engineering compliance, and provide lifecycle root-cause analysis. Work is performed under general direction with contributions to proposals as needed.

 

This role emphasizes algorithm design and software implementation: develop and evaluate radar algorithms (signal and image processing, detection, tracking, imaging) and translate them into production-ready code. Proficiency in Python or C++ for algorithm development, prototyping, and data analysis is required; experience with signal and image processing toolsets, real-time software constraints, requirements tracing, and test-program design is highly valued. Strong analytical, communication, and customer-focused skills with a commitment to quality and safety are essential.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and test radar algorithms and translate analytic designs into production-ready code using Python (and other languages as needed)

  • Perform trade studies to evaluate algorithm and system performance; iterate designs based on results and test data

  • Participate in customer meetings, capture requirements and feedback, and provide technical support for operational tools and deployments.

  • Support agile software development practices: write user stories, participate in sprints, review code, and deliver incremental capability updates.

  • Define and execute test plans, perform root-cause analysis of anomalies, and coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure requirements compliance.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement 

  • Requires an active DoD Top Secret Clearance

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in radar systems, electromagnetic analysis, or related fields, including algorithm development and system-level testing.

  • 1+ years’ experience with Python, C++, C, or Matlab for algorithm development, prototyping, and data analysis; experience with signal processing toolsets and simulation environments

  • Demonstrated ability to derive and trace requirements, DEVELOP test CASES, and collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Willing to travel domestically as needed (~10%)

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, or related field with focus on radar or electromagnetics.

  • Experience with real-time software architectures and implementation (C/C++, RTOS, or embedded systems).

  • Prior work on radar signal processing algorithms (detection, tracking, SAR/ISAR, waveform design) or electronic warfare techniques.

  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, NumPy/SciPy, and signal-processing libraries and toolchains.

  • Hands-on experience with test-range operations, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and flight or ground test campaigns.

  • Knowledge of requirements management tools, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and supplier/partner integration processes.

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment and DevOps methodologies

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Associate (Level 2) Summary Pay Range: $98,600 - $133,400

Mid-Level (Level 3) Summary Pay Range: $119,850 - $162,150
