Atlas Web Technologies ® is seeking a Divisional Plant Engineer for the Meridian, Mississippi facility.

Divisional Plant Engineer Job Duties & Primary Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership to multiple plant locations driving improvements in reliability, process control, and other pertinent KPI’s.
• Create necessary CAD drawings for equipment layout, process control, fabrication and assembly of components.
• Familiar with pneumatic, hydraulic, steam, and boiler systems and controls.
• Must have exceptional operational knowledge of process equipment and the ability to make logical decisions concerning the operation, maintenance and modification of process equipment with minimal supervision.
• Experience with project management and implementation from the initial planning stages to completion on time and within budget.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines for capital and expense projects with input from stakeholders.
• Prepare project justifications and formal authorization requests for capital projects generally over $100,000.
• Commission new production equipment, controls, and processes, and monitor modifications and upgrades.
• Familiar with control loops and control strategies to support troubleshooting and optimization of existing controls and processes.
• Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in optimization of processes and products involving modifications to facilities, equipment, methods and materials.
• Where appropriate, select and supervise external contractors and consultants to ensure they meet the requirements for function, cost, timing, and quality.
• Works with process, quality, production, and manufacturing personnel to develop and implement process changes necessitated by new technology or improvements to current technologies.
• Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collect and interpret data from other technical and operating staff involved to develop and implement process improvement.
• Works with maintenance departments to develop proactive maintenance procedures and programs for the facilities and process equipment.
• Travel 25% to the other two locations (Sylacauga, Alabama & Franklin, Ohio). Expected travel requirement is minimum of 30%, potentially higher during project implementations.

Divisional Plant Engineer Additional Required Skills & Qualifications: (include computer, language, mathematical, and analytical skills required)

• Advanced analytical skills and creativity in solving problems and troubleshooting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with various levels in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple short and long-term projects.
• Competent with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project
• Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) (ControlLogix/ RS logic) is preferred.

Divisional Plant Engineer Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has no direct internal supervisory responsibilities.
• Supervises and directs outside contractors during the construction and commissioning phases of capital projects.

Divisional Plant Engineer Education: (include Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ hands-on work experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of measurable results.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments and be proactive.
• Experience in building materials or paper manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience in process batching and coating technology is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for their assigned manufacturing processes. Through input from the customer, plant staff, and production employees the Manufacturing Engineer will review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing methodology and Kaizen activities, participate in the development of cell layouts, set up reduction (SMED), lead time reduction, improve productivity through waste reduction. In addition, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for achieving product target cost, improved efficiency, identifying possible production problems for existing products within their scope of accountability.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be involved with helping to determine project capital needs, launch strategies, project timing, process flows, labor and machine standards as well as proposed plans for changes to the process, equipment, molds, and tooling to ensure reliability and compatibility with existing standards and systems.

• Establish, monitor and control Product Lifecycle management on plant level.
• Change evaluation and preliminary decision from the affected plant view.
• Define, manage and distribute change activities, process documentation, consumption management, and customer approval.
• Organize and follow Ramp Up, R&R, Equipment Industrialization
• Kick off new equipment and tools (plan budget, investment, purchase, build, relocation and setup of all new equipment.
• Plan and organize internal resources for pre-serial and Ramp Up phase.
• Create and control asset list (purchase orders, invoices, asset numbers, customs data, asset tags, accounting overview.
• Planning of industrialization in stages
• Lead cross-functional team on defined tasks in all phases of project
• Define role and transfer tasks between P1 project team, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Production.
• Enlisting teams, implementing strategies, measuring ROI and plan continuous improvements
• Lead internal and external meetings with suppliers, customer, plants and make correlation between different parties.
• Define and manage specific customer requirement with transfer and implementation in serial production between departments responsibility.
• Collect and organize execution of all norms and standards based on requirements of ITAF audit and VDA standards.
• Participate in identifying open items issues
• Review mold and secondary fixture design and make recommendations
• Develop workflow, effective layout and optimize processes
• Evaluate and implement process/product improvements
• Work with the team to develop tooling and poke yoke methods
• Assist with training of both technical and production in processing standards
• Develops short- and long-term strategy to support customer requirement
• Authorizes engineering change notices (deviations), process alerts, purchase orders, equipment spare parts inventory, and personnel training requests
• Supports plant safety rules, UAW contract, procedures and standards
• Involved with assigned project launch strategies, capital needs, program timing in support of all APQP, PPAP, and ISO/TS16949 requirements

Deliverables:

• Achieve goals and objectives relating to cost and timing
• Achieve project expectation and requirements for all elements of PPAP, ISO/TS16949 (Promotes ISO/TS16949 compliance)
• Program status reports (i.e., top five ppm’s, open items, corrective action plans, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Efficient setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, and other complex multi-axis (5-axis/6-axis) machining centers to produce component parts in accordance with engineering drawings, internal sketches, or other specifications provided by engineering/USN
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions while understanding GD&T requirements
• Select tooling, adjust offsets, and verify machine parameters for complex geometries
• Perform quality checks using micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM, and other precision instruments
• Perform some follow-up operations, such as deburring, polishing, and grinding
• Maintain safe and clean work environment in compliance with company and DoD standards
• Document production, quality, and maintenance logs
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and fellow machinists to resolve production issues
• Communicate with team members to produce quality parts to specification
• Other duties as assigned within required scope of work

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or CNC Machining Technology certification (2-year program)- Preferred
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Able to properly wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• Able to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, lift, reach above shoulders, pull, push, climb up/downstairs
• 1+ years’ experience as a Machinist
• Knowledge of machining fundamentals, G-code, M-code and shop mathematics (Ability to perform basic arithmetic, geometric and algebraic calculations)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
• Proficiency with precision inspection tools

Responsibilities:
