Position Summary

The R&D / Product Development Manager is responsible for the development, optimization, and commercialization of gluten-free baked products within a commercial production environment. This role combines hands-on formulation expertise with cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective products. The position serves as a technical leader and primary execution owner for baking initiatives, supporting business growth through product innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Formulation

• Develop, formulate, and optimize gluten-free & clean label baked goods, including dessert bars, cookies, cakes, and related products.
• Apply food science principles to improve taste, texture, structure, shelf life, and nutritional profiles.
• Evaluate and test ingredients (e.g., alternative flours, starches, gums, fibers, protein, enzymes) for functionality, shelf-life optimization and overall performance.
• Conduct bench-top, pilot, and plant trials to support new product development, process and product improvements.

Scale-Up & Commercialization

• Lead formulation and process scale-up from test kitchen to full commercial production.
• Partner with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering to ensure smooth product launches and ongoing production stability and consistency.
• Troubleshoot formulation, process, and quality issues related to baking performance, yield, and finished product consistency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve yields, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Support cost reduction initiatives and ingredient sourcing.

Quality, Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all R& D and product development activities comply with FDA, FSMA, GMP, GFCO, SQF, Kosher, and applicable state and local regulations.
• Support gluten-free certification requirements, allergen management programs, and cross-contact prevention protocols.
• Assist with label review, ingredient statements, nutrition facts, and product specifications.
• Collaborate with QA to establish and maintain SOPs, product standards, and validation documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to align R&D priorities and product development with business needs.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for product development projects and production-related challenges.
• Communicate project timelines, trial results, and technical recommendations to management.

Team & Project Leadership

• Provide technical guidance to Production Team and Quality Assurance Team.
• Manage multiple development projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
• Support training of production staff on new products, formulations, and process changes.
• Demonstrate creativity, ingenuity and a passion for baking.

Supplier & Ingredient Management

• Partner with ingredient suppliers to source, evaluate, and validate raw materials.
• Coordinate ingredient trials and maintain technical documentation related to ingredient performance.
• Support cost optimization efforts through ingredient and formulation evaluation.
• Evaluate new technologies, ingredients, and processing methods relevant to gluten-free baking.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of experience in baked goods R&D, with direct experience in gluten-free formulation.
• Proven experience supporting product scale-up and commercial manufacturing.
• Experience in commercial or industrial baking operations.
• Strong understanding of gluten-free systems, ingredient functionality and baking processes.
• Working knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, FSMA, GMPs), allergen control, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work effectively in both test kitchen and production floor environments.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Cereal Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Familiarity with gluten-free certification programs and third-party audits.
• Experience in cost modeling, shelf-life testing, and sensory evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support the design of exterior components and assemblies from concept through production using CAD. Ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.
• Manage the release of production-ready parts, drawings, and Bills of Material (BOM) through PLM systems such as Teamcenter while supporting program milestones and engineering documentation.
• Work closely with suppliers on feasibility, design for manufacturing (DFM), tooling development, and technical reviews to ensure parts meet cost, quality, and timing targets.
• Support validation activities including DVP&R development, testing coordination, and design verification to ensure components meet durability, fit, finish, and performance standards.
• Partner with Styling, Studio, Manufacturing Engineering, CAE, and Program Management teams to ensure exterior components align with vehicle styling intent and production requirements.
• Support DFMEA development and manage engineering changes (ECR/ECO) to resolve design issues and improve product quality throughout the development cycle.
• Provide engineering support during prototype builds, pilot builds, and production launch to address fit, finish, and assembly concerns.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 3–8+ years of experience in automotive exterior trim design, development, or release engineering.
• Experience using CATIA V5/V6, or similar CAD software for 3D modeling and design development.
• Understanding of plastic injection molding, composite materials, tooling development, and painted exterior components.
• Experience with GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, and PPAP processes.
• Familiarity with automotive regulatory requirements such as NHTSA and FMVSS related to exterior vehicle components.

About the Job:

The Estimator will provide and direct full estimating services in the company’s General Contracting/ Construction Management division and its Self-Perform Concrete group when needed. Estimating services will be for smaller sized projects as defined by Executive Management as well as be part of the estimating team on larger projects. The estimator will be required to perform and direct all duties on lump sum and conceptual formats.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Will lead all aspects of each project assigned including but not limited to:
2. Will utilize and maintain project estimating templates.
3. Will set up each estimate and perform “accurate” in-house estimates for all or applicable trades of work, temporary facilities, winter/summer conditions, etc.
4. Will engage, direct, and interact with subcontractors and suppliers in all trades.
5. Will review all project documents including but not limited to specifications, geotechnical reports, drawings, contract & general conditions to the contract, schedule, etc.
6. Understand bond and insurance requirements for each project and interact with the accounting department.
7. Interact with project supervision for schedule, constructability, site usage, and site logistics.
8. Interact with project management regarding schedule, constructability, staffing and site usage.
9. Conduct fee analysis, develop general conditions, and staffing plans.

13. Constant interaction with subcontractors for scope, current & forecast pricing, product availability, and development of relationships.
14. Understand project safety requirements and interact with Corporate Safety.
15. Maintain, review, and incorporate historical data in consideration of estimates.
16. Develop subcontractor bid lists.
17. On lump sum bid projects develop a bid strategy to secure work.
18. Develop project schedules and analyze schedules created by others.
19. Develop detailed and complete scopes of work for subcontractor bidding, Purchase Orders, and Subcontract execution.
20. Develop relationships with project Owners, Design professionals and or General Contractors/CM’s (if applicable) to ensure repeat business.
21. Draft purchase orders and subcontracts and ready all trades for awards.
22. Perform productivity analysis, unit pricing and man-hour analysis in consideration of each estimate across all trades.
23. Prepare proposals and clarifications for contracts with the Owner.
24. Attend pre-bid meetings, walk the site, and conduct pre-bid meetings as necessary.
25. Provide technical support to in-house and subcontractor personnel assisting and preparing discipline estimates for assigned projects.
26. Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate costs.
27. Evaluate all bids received from suppliers and subcontractors for completeness and identify missing scope.
28. Lead and conduct post bid review meetings with all trades of work in partnership with the Colasanti project team members.
29. Perform construction system cost analysis and value engineering.
30. Initiate Committed Cost Reports for each project and maintain through the life of all project awards.
31. Assist project team members during construction on scope and pricing efforts when requested.
32. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
33. Lead and perform project handoff meeting to operations.

Qualifications / Skills:

1. Has experience with Estimating or Project Management and has comprehension of how to read drawings/specifications, conduct takeoffs, quantity summarization, and knowledge of CSI divisions.
2. Possess the working competency with the following software: Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Project), Bluebeam, Procore, Egnyte, Building Connected, ProEst and Onscreen Takeoff.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly organized. Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing).
4. Knowledge of communicative behavior and lead discussions, negotiations, provide feedback, manage conflicts, and provide a positive, motivating environment for the project team.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience related to data management and/or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a customer support/service role
