Boeing is seeking a Senior Systems Integration Certification Engineer to lead regulatory and airworthiness compliance activities for the Systems Integration team on the 777-9 program. The Systems Integration Certification team works closely with systems focals, equipment managers, and other stakeholders to drive integration and execution on key deliverables to enable certification testing and readiness for program milestones. This role will play an exciting part in helping achieve 777-9 type certification by leading preparation and submission of certification artifacts, shaping certification strategy, and coordinating cross-functional activities to demonstrate airworthiness.

Position Overview:

  • Prepare certification documents and artifacts for submission to Regulatory Administration and FAA stakeholders; ensure artifacts are complete, traceable, and aligned to applicable requirements.
  • Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (including system focals, equipment managers, ALIT, RegAdmin, and program IPTs) to define artifacts, validate compliance, and document airworthiness and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with system focals and equipment managers to compile certification documents required to achieve program milestones and achieve type certification.
  • Integrate cross-functionally within the Systems IPT and with stakeholders across the program to define framework, strategy, criteria, and content to satisfy regulatory guidance and achieve certification milestones.
  • Review regulatory requirements and evaluate impacts to products and schedules
  • Lead development of compliance documents and other artifacts that establish airworthiness and safety
  • Lead a team of individual contributors: coordinate daily work, communicate status and help needed, align priorities to key milestones, and articulate constraints and resource needs as they arise.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace certification, regulatory compliance, or systems integration with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing certification documents and artifacts for submission to regulatory authorities (FAA and/or equivalent), and ensuring those artifacts meet regulatory expectations.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
  • Experience reviewing regulatory and customer requirements and evaluating impacts to products, systems, and services
  • Experience leading and coordinating the day-to-day work of individual contributors
  • Strong technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills; demonstrated ability to present technical positions to leadership

  • Initiate and document any nonconforming materials or assemblies according to specifications and procedures.

  • If supplies are not pre-picked, gather specified materials from storage areas as outlined in installation plans or non-conformance records. Disassemble defective interior trim parts using hand tools and clean surfaces prior to applying new materials. 

  • Apply potting compounds, primers, adhesives, and special finishes as required by specifications and work orders. 

  • Fit and assemble detail components to repaired parts according to specifications and drawings. 

  • Paint or touch up repair areas using appropriate tools to achieve the desired finish, including mixing and matching paint as needed.

  • Rework materials per engineering specifications and incorporate changes as needed, including leather repairs and touch-ups. 

  • Remove marks and scratches from metal surfaces using appropriate tools and techniques. 

  • Seal edges of repair areas with color-matched sealant as required.

  • Consult with engineering, planning, and inspection on job-related issues and contact team leaders or supervisors when assistance is needed.

The Boeing Electromagnetic Effects (E3) Group seeks Electromagnetic Effects Design and Analysis Engineers at Associate (Level 2), Experienced (Level 3), and Expert (Level 4) levels. The successful candidate will be based in the Puget Sound region (Washington State) and support Boeing Defense, Space & Security commercial-derivative aircraft programs such as the U.S. E-7A and the KC-46A tanker, among others.

The engineer will develop and validate Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements and architectures to integrate complex components and subsystems into higher-level platforms. Responsibilities include defining and conducting tests to validate designs to requirements, and providing EMI/EMC expertise during design, modification, supplier engagement, and manufacturing activities.

E3 environments include: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static (P-static), Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), and related environments.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other analyses to predict component, interconnect, and system performance and to optimize designs for E3 performance.
  • Work (with minimal direction at higher levels) to achieve electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring, and structure.
  • Interface with manufacturing and suppliers on complex E3 design aspects to assure system-level compatibility; identify and report achievements and issues to program management and customers.
  • Review supplier test plans and test reports for technical correctness; identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support project management by contributing to development of work statements, budgets, schedules, and design/review inputs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Resolve airplane level requirements into system level requirements and resolve system level requirements into component requirements with time and cost efficient validation methods.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager, Avionics Safety Team to lead the System Safety Team on commercial programs. This role reports to the office of the Integrated Modular Avionics Chief Engineer and is the focal for all safety related activities.  This position is set to join the team in Everett, WA.

Position Overview:

This role will be responsible for leading the system safety efforts for Avionics systems throughout the lifecycle of the program, ensuring compliance with safety standards, integration of safety designs and analysis throughout the Avionics platform, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The successful candidate will provide mentoring and coaching to all levels of engineers providing knowledge transfer to aid in growing our next generation of leaders and engineers. Management responsibilities include managing resources for the daily engineering assignments.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead, embody, and foster the safety culture throughout the Avionics functions and product designs.
  • Collaborate with Avionics functional teams to oversee and maintain the safety analysis activities consistent with applicable industry standards (e.g. ARP4754, ARP4761)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an Avionics System Safety Program Plan in alignment with BCA Program and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure safety considerations are integrated and embedded into all phases of the Avionics product lifecycle.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and inclusion within the team.
  • Establish strong relationships with program customers, Avionics functional leaders and external stakeholders
  • Support the development of Safety critical Avionics systems throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to system safety.
  • Develop and implement an Avionics SMS process and embed within the organizational operating rhythm.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • 5+ years of experience in BCA engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing teams as a first line (Level K) engineering manager.

  • 2+ years of experience leading Systems Safety Analysis projects.

 This is an exciting time in the program as we partner with our US Air Force customer for enhanced mission systems upgrades as well as new international customers to grow the business.

 In this role you will be responsible for the engineering management of an integrated communication suite and aircraft navigations subsystem of electronics hardware.  Leadership responsibilities will include management of the engineering team responsible for all aspects of the avionics hardware, including the design/architecture, integration, lab/aircraft testing, airworthiness certification, new business proposals, and supplier technical management.  In addition, you will be in charge of managing the financial labor and material budgets as the Control Account Manager (CAM) for the team.The Boeing KC-46 “Pegasus” is the new US Air Force aerial refueling tanker aircraft designed to support multi-role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift.  The KC-46 is a military commercial derivative aircraft based on the Boeing 767-2C aircraft and modified per US Air Force specifications for the primary mission of aerial refueling US and Allied aircraft.  The KC-46 accomplishes this refueling mission using either the Hose & Drogue or the Boom systems, which are capable of transferring fuel at rates of 400 or 1,200 gallons per minute, respectively.
