Vice President of Construction – Columbus, OH

My client is a leading commercial general contractor in Columbus delivering projects across office, mixed-use, multifamily, education, healthcare, and large ground-up developments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Vice President of Construction to lead operations, oversee project delivery, and support the long-term strategic growth of the business. This is a senior leadership role with significant involvement in client development, preconstruction strategy, and design-build pursuits. Relocation assistance can be provided for the right candidate.

Responsibilities -

• Lead all construction operations across multiple project teams

• Oversee project delivery from preconstruction through closeout

• Support budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and long-term project planning

• Manage Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams

• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, and engineering firms

• Actively support business development, including RFP presentations and client meetings

• Work alongside sales / leadership team to win third-party CM, CMR, and Design-Build projects

• Contribute to preconstruction strategy, estimating approach, and pursuit planning

• Ensure quality, safety, risk management, and client satisfaction across all projects

• Drive process improvement, team development, and operational performance

• Represent the company as a senior leader within the Columbus construction market

Experience Required -

• 10+ years commercial construction experience

• Strong background in ground-up commercial, mixed-use, or multifamily projects

• Experience managing Project Executives, Project Managers, and Superintendents

• Proven experience delivering complex projects in the $20M – $150M range

• Strong preconstruction knowledge preferred, but operational leadership also considered

• Experience working with architects, engineering firms, and design-build teams strongly preferred

• Background with CM at Risk, CMR, or Design-Build projects highly desirable

• Experience presenting RFPs and supporting business development efforts

• Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills

What You’ll Do

• Lead business process improvement initiatives across Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay, New Product Development, and Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning
• Drive projects from early-stage assessment through implementation and closeout
• Use structured problem-solving and project management approaches to bring clarity and momentum to complex business issues
• Partner with stakeholders across operations, supply chain, finance, IT, commercial teams, and other functions
• Facilitate current-state reviews, future-state design sessions, process mapping, working sessions, and implementation planning
• Develop project timelines, milestone plans, status updates, and cross-functional ownership frameworks
• Identify risks, gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improved scalability and execution
• Support systems-related process improvement efforts tied to enterprise platforms such as Oracle or SAP
• Help establish practical solutions for evolving business needs, including situations where priorities shift quickly
• Communicate effectively with leadership, including concise updates, project objectives, progress, and business impact
• Contribute to adoption, change management, and continuous improvement efforts across the organization

What We’re Looking For

• 8 to 10+ years of relevant experience in business process improvement, business transformation, operational excellence, project management, consulting, or related work
• Strong experience in at least one major end-to-end business process such as Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay, New Product Development, or Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and operate with a high degree of independence
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a practical toolkit of methodologies and frameworks
• Executive presence and strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear, succinct updates to senior executive leaders
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
• Strong business acumen and sound judgment
• Experience in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and new business needs emerge quickly
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, finance, accounting, engineering, supply chain, information systems, economics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle, SAP, or other large-scale enterprise systems
• Background in consulting, internal transformation teams, process improvement, or continuous improvement functions
• Exposure to engineered-to-order, custom product, manufacturing, or complex operational environments is helpful
• Familiarity with tools and methods related to Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, project leadership, root cause analysis, or continuous improvement
• MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
• Interest in artificial intelligence tools and how they can support better business processes is a plus

Preferred Experience: There will be on the job training

• Join forces with SRE and development teams to find new and creative ways to reduce the occurrence of vulnerabilities at scale.
• Build repeatable/reusable security processes and frameworks.
• Review quality issues and work towards detecting security flaws both obvious and discrete.
• Assist with scoping prospective projects, participating in projects from kickoff through "definition of done" via end-to-end ownership.
• Use your industry experience to own and drive resolution and retest complex security events, policy questions and technical security risks.

Your experience should include...

• 7+ years of progressive security engineering experience across Security Architecture, Cryptography, Network, Cloud, Mobile, and Web Security.
• Skilled in Secure Development Lifecycle, Security by Design, and Shift Left methodologies.
• Proficient in Threat Modeling, Architecture Review, Penetration Testing, Code Review, SAST, and DAST.
• Strong scripting abilities in languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, and PowerShell.
• Adept at applying security best practices for compliance, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

What you'll get to do...

Define the Enterprise Integration & Partner Platform Strategy

• Lead the strategy and roadmap for GoDaddy Commerce's headless commerce APIs and partner SDKs that enable external software platforms to embed payments and commerce workflows.
• Develop a clear vision for who integrates with us, why, and how — prioritizing integrations that deliver high merchant and partner value aligned to our platform core competencies.
• Build and maintain a deep understanding of partner evaluation criteria, technical architecture, and enterprise buyer needs — positioning GoDaddy Commerce competitively alongside platforms like Stripe, Adyen, and Finix.

Champion Enterprise & ISV Partner Workflows

• Serve as the voice of enterprise software partners — from technical architects to product leaders — ensuring our APIs, documentation, and certification processes reflect the needs of real integration teams. 
• Map and optimize end-to-end partner workflows: onboarding → certification → go-live → reporting → revenue share → compliance.
• Translate integration complexity (devices, stores, payment endpoints, invoicing, virtual terminals, headless POS) into scalable, configurable platform solutions.

Drive Payments & Commerce Platform Capabilities

• Partner with engineering to define APIs and services for payments, orders, catalog, inventory, customers, and sales channels that support both embedded and in-person commerce.
• Build support for advanced enterprise requirements including: 
  • Multi-entity and multi-location configuration
  • Reporting and commissions APIs
  • Activity and transaction tracking
  • Risk and fraud scoring hooks
  • Customer authentication and tokenization flows
  • Reseller administrator portal
• Collaborate with Payments, Risk, and FinOps teams to ensure accurate settlement, reporting, and reconciliation across embedded payment flows.

Influence and Collaborate with Enterprise Clients

• Meet directly with enterprise partners and resellers to understand their technical and business integration needs, gather feedback, and guide co-development pilots and close sales.
• Partner with Business Development and Solutions Engineering to support partner evaluation cycles, ensuring APIs, sandbox tools, and documentation demonstrate enterprise-grade capability and reliability.
• Translate client conversations into actionable platform requirements, balancing enterprise flexibility with platform scalability.

Deliver Hypothesis-Driven Product Discovery

• Use experimentation and partner pilots to validate API features and developer experiences before scaling.
• Measure what matters: partner integration velocity, merchant attach and retention, API usage, revenue contribution, and partner NPS.
• Continuously iterate roadmap priorities based on adoption, partner satisfaction, and ecosystem performance.

Scale and Evangelize the Partner Platform

• Collaborate with GTM and Solution Engineering to create integration blueprints, API playbooks, and sandbox environments that reduce time-to-value for new partners.
• Define certification standards and reference architectures for recurring vertical use cases.
• Share insights and findings across GoDaddy Commerce to shape our long-term platform strategy for embedded commerce and payments.

Your experience should include...

• 8+ years of product management experience in platform, API, or payments products, with deep knowledge of payments architecture and commerce primitives.
• 2+ years of ISO 8583 financial messaging experience.
• Proven success embedding payments/commerce into enterprise ISV and middleware platforms with measurable adoption outcomes.
• Expert in headless and API-first product development, including API design tradeoffs, SDK usability, and developer enablement.
• Strong client-facing skills leading discovery, solution reviews, and executive briefings with enterprise partners.
• Track record of cross-functional influence across engineering, business development, operations, and compliance teams.

You might also have...

• Experience with platforms such as Stripe Connect, Adyen for Platforms, Finix, Square Developer Platform, or Shopify's Partner APIs.
