Responsibilities

Surface Warfare Officers (SWOs) are involved in virtually every aspect of Navy missions. As a SWO, you may be in charge of any number of shipboard operations and activities while at sea, working with or within any of these specialized forces:

Aircraft Carrier Forces: Provide and coordinate air, submarine and surface ship defense for aircraft carriers.

Cruiser-Destroyer Forces: Provide ship attack and defensive measures with a wide array of missile and fire power capabilities, providing anti-air, -submarine and -surface warfare support.

Amphibious Forces: Embark and transport vehicles, equipment and personnel for amphibious assault operations.

Combat-Logistics Forces: Provide combatant ships with fuel, ammunition, food and supplies, and provide repair, maintenance and rescue capabilities through Fleet Support Ships.

Mine Warfare Forces: Detect, identify and neutralize threats from hostile use of maritime mines.

Work Environment

Training & Advancement

Those pursuing an Information Professional Officer position are required to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI.

Unless they have already been commissioned through the Naval Academy or ROTC, those pursuing a Surface Warfare Officer position are required to attend Officer Candidate School. Newly commissioned SWOs can expect an advanced training process that includes comprehensive training at sea and ashore.

Newly commissioned Surface Warfare Officers will be assigned to a surface ship, leading a team of Sailors responsible for a component of the ship - anything from electronics to weapons to engineering systems. In this setting, Officers are working toward full Surface Warfare qualification.

After completing these initial sea tours, Surface Warfare Officers may be selected to serve on high-level staffs, commands or strategic projects or they may be selected to work in recruitment. The ultimate goal for many: to one day command their own ship.

Your Role

  • Perform one-time veteran disability evaluations (DBQs/C&P exams)
  • Review health histories, assess whether injuries/conditions are likely service-related
  • Complete detailed, impactful medical documentation
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge while growing your understanding of the veteran population


Position Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted US Medical License (MD, DO)
  • LLC or other legal business entity (or willingness to obtain)
  • Active malpractice insurance, in good standing, free of significant sanctions or malpractice claims
  • Office or access to office space in required locations (e.g., within 50- 60 miles of above locations)
  • US Citizenship

Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist in designing various electrical project designs including creating electrical schematics, grid plan layouts, electrical power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design.
  • Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
  • Assist with set up of electrical CAD configuration and procedures according to project requirements at the beginning of a project for the electrical design team.
  • Assist in preparing engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using CAD software programs
  • Assist with a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Assist with a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, sizing various system components and refining rough sketches.
  • Assist with initial rough designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
  • Assist with analysing reports, drawings, and tests, to plan and design projects.
  • Apply design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
  • Complete and review design drawings within scope, budget and schedule.
  • Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
  • Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into electrical design and layouts.
  • Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.


Key Requirements and Technology Experience:


  • Key skills: AutoCAD, Electrical Design e.g. Transmission or Distribution or Substation or Pole Design or Protection & Control Design.
  • Bachelor Degree in drafting technology or related field and min 2 years related experience Required or Associate Degree and min 3 years related experience Required or High School and min 4 years progressive detailing and design experience is Required.
  • Strong understanding of design software such as: AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel to develop the design deliverables.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Basic knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
  • Basic knowledge in the theory and practices of engineering discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

Summary:

Supporting the overall vision and strategy of Fessler & Bowman, you will be responsible for developing relationships and strategies to continue growth within the industrial concrete and civil earthwork markets. This position will work to identify strategic accounts and understand customer specific needs within a defined geographic market. Partnering closely with the Operations Team to execute sales and growth strategies, this role will ensure that Fessler & Bowman’s footprint is expanding. This role will guarantee that product offerings are of high quality and exceed customers’ expectations. The descriptions below are representative of, but not limited to, the duties and responsibilities for this position.


Five Key Roles of the Business Development Manager:

  • Lead and manage all business development activities for the designated region.
  • Align business development strategies to regional market.
  • Identify and target potential growth markets, clients, and opportunities within geographic market
  • Identifies and procures qualified opportunities for Fessler & Bowman by strengthening relationships with existing customers and researching new clientele.
  • Work closely with Business Unit Director to ensure execution of Strategic Growth Plans.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage in industry associations through networking events to gain valuable market insight.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance Fessler & Bowman’s brand recognition and reputation.
  • Manage and maintain the Lead/Contact Management (CRM) system to track the progress of sales goals.

Education, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years related experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Proven ability to establish strong credibility and build relationships, operate in an environment of ambiguity, thrive in a highly competitive marketplace.
  • Strong results-orientation and commitment to quality, performance, and deliverables.
  • Effective multi-tasker with demonstrated ability to prioritize.

Travel:

Travel is required for this position and is anticipated at 10 - 20%. Fessler & Bowman will compensate for travel when applicable.
