Our Client is looking for an experienced Lead Materials Engineer to join a growing Engineering Support team focused on Aero Engines and Gearbox technologies. This role is ideal for someone passionate about materials R&D, advanced processing methods, and cross‐functional collaboration.

As a Lead Materials Engineer, you will guide efforts in materials testing, analysis, validation, special process development, and failure investigations, while partnering closely with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams. You will also serve as a key technical interface with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead material qualification initiatives for turbomachinery hardware and support improvements across the supplier base.
  • Prepare and present technical findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to industry and business teams working to enhance special process applications.
  • Offer technical support during supply chain reviews, pre‐production discussions, and capability assessments.
  • Develop and define material and process specifications.
  • Document all engineering work in alignment with organizational standards and policies.
  • Review and evaluate material non‐conformances, recommend corrective actions, and support manufacturability improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a Materials Engineer within the aerospace or gas turbine industry (manufacturing, quality, or field support).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy.
  • Expertise in primary processing methods such as powder metallurgy, isothermal forging, and heat treatment for turbomachinery materials.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and aerospace manufacturing processes including melting, forging, and heat treatment.
  • Solid knowledge of supply chain operations for engineered components.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Broad materials knowledge across metals, ceramics, composites, and polymers.
  • Experience with laboratory procedures, testing equipment, and characterization methods.
  • Background in FEA (ANSYS experience preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with coating and surface treatment processes is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with standard business software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Project management experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
