As an Aircraft Structures Mechanic, you will utilize your manufacturing knowledge to set up tools and equipment for drilling and fastening complex structures, including composite materials. You will operate various hand and machine tools, including automated equipment, to perform tasks according to specifications while ensuring safety and quality standards. Position Responsibilities:

• Review daily reports and consult with team leaders to determine job assignments and obtain necessary documentation.

• Locate work areas using specified drawings and paperwork.

• Verify kitted parts against installation plans and bill of materials, ensuring they are suitable and defect-free.

• Retrieve non-kitted parts from designated areas, ensuring compliance with specifications.

• Use electronic devices to access work instructions and engineering data (personal cell phones not permitted).

• Select and utilize appropriate hand and power tools for assembly tasks, including precision alignment equipment.

• Move kits, carts, and equipment within the work cell as needed.

• Load/unload jigs and operate mechanical lifts for assembly work.

• Locate tools and parts on aircraft using specified methods and set up assembly tools per instructions.

• Handle hazardous materials safely and dispose of them properly.

• Inspect completed work for defects and cleanliness before submission for inspection.

• Perform minor rework and maintain tool control in accordance with procedures.

• Maintain personal and tool certifications and seek assistance from supervisors when necessary.

• Set up tools and equipment for drilling and fastener installation in complex structures.

• Operate various hand and machine tools, monitoring equipment functionality and performing routine maintenance.

• Coordinate the movement and preparation of materials and tools for tasks.

• Cut, file, drill, and assemble parts, ensuring proper fitting and quality standards.

• Conduct reaming, riveting, and sealing operations, applying corrosion inhibitors as needed.

• Utilize calibrated tools to verify work against specifications and ensure quality.

• Manage equipment and materials within the work cell to ensure efficient workflow.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

• Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

• Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

Basic Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience working with mechanical or structures related statements of work; such as construction, aerospace, automotive, maritime or similar industry; this can include education and military.

• 1+ year experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

• 1+ years of experience using high impact vibratory tools; such as bucking/riveting.

• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience performing aircraft structural work or equivalate.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform all functions related to tool fabrication, rework, and repair as required.

• Obtain work orders from the team leader or supervisor, determining assignments based on schedule dates and tool availability.

• Read work orders and blueprints to identify required tasks, tools, and equipment.

• Develop plans for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools.

• Initiate and coordinate engineering change requests with internal support groups when necessary.

• Determine the sequence of tool fabrication work, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to production challenges.

• Access and utilize appropriate tool drawings, models, and specifications using available computing systems.

• Select and verify necessary equipment from the shop storage area, ensuring current tool certification.

• Perform repairs or replacements on tools as per Standing Tool Order (STO) Production Requests, and request rework orders if necessary.

• Layout holes, lines, and other tool features, and install or modify hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum tubes as required.

• Move materials and equipment using Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and overhead cranes as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of orders and coordinate tooling information with other shifts and departments.

• 2+ years of experience using complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision, grinding, polishing, and fitting).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Tool & Die Maker.

• 2+ years of experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.

• Completed an approved Mold Maker or Tool and Die Maker state apprentice ship program and/or certified by the U.S.

• Ability to perform machining operations with a specified degree of accuracy and within a timely manner, maintain close and exacting tolerances and finish requirements ensuring highest quality workmanship on all tools, gages, and fixtures with minimal scrap.

• Capable of creating a repeatable setup and working to tolerances of +/-.0002" in controlled environment.

• Possesses 4 and 5 axis CNC skills for mill or lathe, and extensive knowledge of detail cutting tool geometry for different cutting tool types and materials.

• Ability to reverse engineer and manufacture mold components within time limitations

• Ability to read and write G and M code with CAM programming experience.

Position Responsibilities:

About the Role

A Senior Experimental Physicist is a technical leader and senior individual contributor within Avalanche's Science organization. You are expected to exercise strong scientific judgment, propose new approaches, and help the team move faster and smarter—even when the path forward is not fully defined.

In this role you're responsible for:

• Design, analyze, and interpret plasma experiments in close collaboration with the broader science team and engineers.
• Contribute to rapid test–learn cycles by translating results into clear, actionable recommendations for future experiments.
• Integrate experimental data, simulations, and theory to inform conclusions and guide next steps.
• Help define which questions matter most at a given stage of development and where effort is best focused.
• Work closely with engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, software) to ensure plasma physics considerations are reflected in system design.
• Communicate complex plasma physics concepts clearly to non-plasma specialists across the organization.
• Support product and system trade studies by providing scientifically grounded input.
• Act as a technical mentor to junior scientists and engineers.
• Share knowledge, review analyses, and contribute to a collaborative and curious science culture.
• Help strengthen team practices around documentation, analysis, and communication.

About you:

• PhD in plasma physics or a closely related field, or equivalent depth of experience.
• 3+ years post-PhD experience in a plasma related R&D environment working closely with hardware and diagnostics.
• Demonstrated ability to approach complex plasma physics problems analytically
• Comfortable interpreting theory, simulation, and experimental results .
• Ability to work with a diverse team as well as operate independently, prioritize work, and make progress in ambiguous environments.
• Clear communicator who can explain complex ideas across disciplines.
• Comfort iterating quickly and revising assumptions as new data emerges.
• Comfortable coding in python or similar languages

Bonus skills & experience:

• Direct experience working with fusion relevant plasma diagnostics
• Electrical and/or mechanical technician experience
• Experience assembling experimental, prototype, or low-volume hardware
• Experience with interlocks or other safety systems
• Familiarity with vacuum or ultra-high-vacuum systems
• Experience with cryogenic systems or fluid handling
• Experience working around high-voltage systems
• Experience with pneumatic systems and precision plumbing
• Automation or controls installation experience
• Surface-mount and through-hole soldering experience
• Prior work in fast-paced, hardware-driven R&D environments
