About the role

Leonardo US Automation, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Assurance Manager with a minimum of 5 years in QA leadership to oversee the company quality processes for Airport Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and Packet and Parcels Systems (PPS).

The QA Manager will be responsible for developing and executing quality assurance procedures that ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of BHS design, installations, commissioning, and maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical systems, regulatory compliance, and airport operations.


Essential Functions


  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures and documentation specific to airport baggage handling systems.
  • Lead quality audits, inspections, and system testing throughout the project lifecycle: design, installation, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Ensure all BHS work meets FAA, TSA, and relevant local regulatory compliance requirements.
  • In a IPT organization, Work closely with engineering, project management, and operations teams to resolve quality issues and improve system reliability, monitoring all the quality checks have been made
  • Create and maintain QA documentation including inspection and test plans (ITPs),
  • Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), root cause analyses, and corrective action reports.
  • Train and mentor QA/QC staff and contractors on quality procedures and standards.
  • Interface with clients, regulatory authorities, and third-party inspectors during inspections and audits.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) for system quality, uptime, and error rates, providing analysis and reporting to senior management.

Requirements [Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities]

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role, ideally within baggage handling systems, material handling, automation, or airport infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, ISO 9001 standards, and risk management practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant U.S. airport regulatory requirements (FAA, TSA, OSHA, ANSI, ASME).
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, PLC-controlled automation, and conveyor technologies.
  • Proficient in QA tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, team coordination, and problem-solving skills.


Work Experience

  • Previous experience working on airport projects or BHS installations as a Senior Quality engineer or Quality manager


Certifications (Preferred)

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt).
