Senior Network Security Engineer

The Role

As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing a hyperscale network security infrastructure.

As a technical leader, you will oversee complex security architecture initiatives, mentor peer engineers, act as an escalation point for incident response, and ensure alignment with modern security standards. The technology roadmap is heavily focused on automation, so experience with — and interest in — leveraging automation is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance on complex troubleshooting and architectural decisions
• Design, implement, and manage advanced network security solutions including firewalls, proxies, system hardening, threat profiling, and segmentation strategies to protect sensitive data
• Act as a lead escalation point for critical security incidents and response efforts
• Develop and maintain automation playbooks, network security policy frameworks, threat models, and root cause analyses with corrective actions
• Oversee vulnerability assessments, penetration testing coordination, and remediation planning
• Champion the use of automated tools for infrastructure build, day-two operations, and lifecycle management using technologies such as Python, Terraform, and vendor APIs
• Leverage platforms and tools including Algosec, Tufin, Jenkins, and Git
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to embed security best practices across the technology stack

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience in network engineering and network security engineering, including architectural design across trusted, untrusted, and DMZ environments
• Proven leadership experience in a senior or lead engineering role, with the ability to both guide teams and operate independently
• Strong understanding of network protocols and the OSI model, with hands-on experience in TCP/UDP-based applications, routing, switching, and load balancing
• Deep expertise in network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, proxies, MACsec, IPsec, HTTPS, certificate chains, DNS, NTP, AAA, and domain-based authentication and authorization
• Experience working with multiple security vendors such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, and F5
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust principles, segmentation strategies, and secure cloud networking in AWS and/or Azure
• Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or Terraform
• Relevant certifications (CISSP, CCIE Security, GIAC, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or equivalent) are highly preferred

Role Summary

The Data Governance Lead will design, build, and scale an enterprise data governance program from the ground up, using Collibra as the core platform for a large real estate enterprise. This senior role combines strategic leadership, hands‐on Collibra configuration, stakeholder management, and deep domain knowledge of real estate data. The incumbent will own the governance vision, operating model, and tooling, and will partner with business, IT, data engineering, analytics, legal, and compliance teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Governance Strategy and Operating Model

• Define and implement the enterprise data governance strategy, roadmap, and operating model aligned to business objectives.
• Define governance KPIs, maturity metrics, and success measures.
• Drive adoption through change management, communications, and training.

2. Collibra Implementation from Scratch

• Lead end‐to‐end Collibra implementation: platform setup, environment planning (Dev/Test/Prod), domain modeling, and taxonomy design.
• Customize asset models for real estate use cases.
• Configure and manage Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Data Catalog, and Reference Data & Code Sets.
• Design and implement Collibra workflows for glossary lifecycle, owner/steward assignment, issue management, and escalation.
• Implement Collibra operating model with defined roles (Data Owner, Data Steward, Custodian, Consumer) and RACI mappings.
• Integrate Collibra with data warehouses/lakes (Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure), BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), and ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, dbt, ADF).
• Lead metadata ingestion across technical, operational, and business metadata.

3. Data Ownership, Stewardship, and Accountability

• Define and institutionalize data ownership and stewardship across business units.
• Partner with business leaders to assign Data Owners and Stewards.
• Drive accountability for data definitions, data quality, and metadata completeness.
• Establish Data Governance Councils and working groups.

4. Data Quality and Issue Management

• Collaborate with data quality teams to define Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and align rules and thresholds.
• Configure Collibra issue management workflows and ensure traceability from issues to root causes and remediation actions.
• Provide governance oversight for remediation and continuous improvement.

5. Compliance, Risk, and Security Governance

• Define governance controls for regulatory compliance, contractual data, and financial reporting.
• Partner with Legal, Risk, and Security to classify sensitive data and apply access and usage policies.
• Implement data classification and privacy metadata within Collibra.

6. Stakeholder and Program Leadership

• Serve as the single point of accountability for the data governance program.
• Present progress, metrics, and risks to senior leadership.
• Mentor governance analysts, stewards, and platform administrators.
• Coordinate with system integrators and vendors as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 12–18+ years in data management, data governance, or analytics leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Modernize legacy microservices and distributed systems supporting mechanical operations and detector networks.
• Design and implement backend services using Java, Spring Boot, event-driven patterns, and Kafka.
• Scale and optimize high-volume IoT data pipelines (30M+ incoming data points from sensors/detectors).
• Lead architecture, design, and deployment efforts for new and existing services.
• Refactor and support large rules-engine frameworks (600+ rulesets).
• Contribute to cloud-native development (AWS preferred; Azure acceptable; cloud agnostic mindset encouraged).
• Use Python for backend workflows, automation, and data processing tasks.
• Build automated CI/CD and testing frameworks following DevSecOps best practices.
• Work with Postgres and relational databases to tune, model, and integrate data.
• Mentor junior developers and support a strong engineering culture focused on speed, clarity, and automation.
• Collaborate across teams to build scalable, modern systems.
• Support both new development and the existing application footprint.

• Build ODI mappings/interfaces, packages, procedures, scenarios, topology configuration, ODI Agent and load plans to integrate data from multiple enterprise systems.
• Expertise in building Pl/SQL queries, procedures, data loading process, ensuring high-performance and scalability to meet the evolving data needs of the various applications.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI).
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including other data engineers, DBA group, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot RMJ jobs, ODI workflows, sessions, agents, and data pipelines on Linux environments.
• Perform root cause analysis for failures related to ODI workflows, RMJ jobs, network connectivity, API integrations, and file transfers.
• Optimize ETL workflows to improve reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Use scripting and automation tools to support data processing and operational workflows.
• Work in Linux/Unix environments, using command-line tools and shell scripts for job automation and troubleshooting.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processes, configurations, and best practices.
• Participate in walk-throughs which review program specifications, source code, and all technical supporting documentation, including screens/reports. Provide feedback in accordance with team standards and guidelines.
• Participate in implementation of changes, enhancements, and newly developed programs.
• Conduct technical research and provide recommendations, develop proofs of concept or prototypes, contributing to technical design of applications.
• Helping to identify coding patterns and anti-patterns and enforce implementation of the patterns through code reviews.
• Quickly resolving issues encountered by business lines in the production environment, maintaining a helpful, "high touch" approach to working with business users, performing root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and performance tuning.

Desired Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical area
• 7+ years of extensive hands-on experience in ODI, Oracle Datawarehouse, Oracle PL/SQL, Linux, Python scripting, and ODI admin module (ODI Agent setup, logs configuration, certificate installation).
• Must have experience in building Pl/SQL queries for Oracle Server (incl. stored procedures, functions…) and must understand basic principles of data modeling
• Excellent collaborative and communication skills, particularly in high-stress situations
• Experience with scripting Python and Linux scripting, CLE, networking fundamentals (API, IP/ports, SFTP/FTP connectivity)
• High proficiency in development practices: unit testing, Continuous Integration (CI/CD), refactoring, clean code
• Experience with Bitbucket/GIT source control management
• Problem solving skills, able to determine upcoming risks & issues and address them accordingly.
• Ability to interpret and troubleshoot applications using logs.
• Pro-active approach and good communication skills.
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (Jira)

• Private Banking domain experience.
• Working experience in a financial service industry
• Financial application knowledge like FIS AddVantage, CRD, CRM Pivotal.
• Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
• Knowledge of dbt (Data Build Tool) for modern data transformations.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms or hybrid data architectures.
