Manufacturing Project Engineer

Company Overview

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Project Engineer to join our team. This role is essential in driving operational excellence, enhancing product quality, improving safety, and optimizing manufacturing performance across our facilities.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Project Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing improved manufacturing methods using Lean principles. This role also supports ongoing manufacturing and process engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all safety and food-safety procedures, including OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout, and GMPs.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, professionalism, and alignment with company values.
• Lead the development and execution of capital projects from scope through commissioning.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, equipment vendors, and contractors to develop project scope, budgets, and timelines.
• Prepare and present capital approval documentation.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk to meet objectives.
• Document new manufacturing processes and engineering procedures.
• Conduct process audits to ensure compliance and discipline.
• Recommend equipment or process changes to improve performance.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional teams and problem-solving initiatives.
• Initiate and implement cost‑reduction strategies.
• Travel up to 60% as required.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred (equivalent experience considered).

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing.

Technical Sales Representative (MSP Sales Required)

Chicago, IL (60607 Hybrid after ramp)

Join a boutique, white-glove MSP with 25+ years in the Chicago market, known for high-touch service and long-term client relationships. This is a high-impact, revenue-driving role with urgency—ideal for a consultative MSP seller who can build pipeline and close new business quickly.

You’ll work directly with ownership and marketing to drive new MRR, run discovery, and translate IT solutions into business value.

What You’ll Do

• Own full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, qualification, and closing
• Run consultative conversations around managed services, security, and cloud
• Partner with marketing on targeted outreach and pipeline generation
• Manage pipeline and activity in HubSpot (notes, follow-ups, deal stages)
• Drive new MRR (“seats”), projects, and long-term client relationships
• Bring in technical leadership only when needed for deeper validation

Must-Haves

• 3+ years MSP sales experience (required)
• Ability to confidently sell managed services without engineering support
• Strong discovery, qualification, and follow-up discipline
• CRM-driven (HubSpot preferred) and process-oriented

Role Description

Daily responsibilities will include engaging with contractors, engineers, and distributors, providing exceptional customer service, managing accounts, identifying business opportunities, and achieving sales targets. This role also requires working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction and foster long-term business growth.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise in Sales and Business Development, with a successful track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
• Proficiency in Customer Service, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Experience in Account Management and familiarity with representing Manufacturers.
• Strong knowledge of the HVAC industry and its products, as well as an understanding of the industrial, commercial, or related sectors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to tailor solutions to client needs.
• Self-driven and able to work independently, with a proactive and organized approach to managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in the construction, HVAC or mechanical contracting industry is a plus.

Summary

The Associate Project Manager, Facilities supports the planning, coordination, and execution of facility -related projects across a portfolio of properties. This role partners with Facilities, Asset Management, Capital, and external vendors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. The position is ideal for an early-career project manager seeking hands-on experience in facilities management, capital projects, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in managing facility projects such as repairs, equipment replacements, and minor improvements.
• Assist with budget tracking, invoice review, and change order documentation.
• Maintain accurate project records, contracts, and reports.
• Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation from initiation through close-out.
• Track project milestones, risks, and deliverables; escalate issues as needed.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Partner with Facilities and Operations teams to prioritize project needs and minimize operational disruptions.
• Support site walks, condition assessments, and punch list completion.
• Provide administrative support and other assigned tasks as needed.

Travel

• 1–3 years of experience in project coordination, facilities, construction, or operations

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

COMPENSATION

Salaries may vary by location. The range for this role is $71,400 - $99,900 plus bonus. Final compensation determinations are made based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual experience, education, and skill level; business strategic priorities; primary office location; scope and anticipated strategic impact of the role.

Qualifications and requirements

• Experience in one or more of the following: engine repair, steering and suspension, brakes, heating and air conditioning
• Knowledge of health and safety compliance
• Manual dexterity and physical stamina, lift heavy objects, and walk and stand for extended periods of time
• Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills and attention to detail
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Where required by State/Local law, maintain ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4), Brakes (A5), Heating Air Conditioning (A7), Electrical (A6), Engine Repair (A1), Manual Drive Train and Axles (A3), Engine Performance (A8), and Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2)

Except as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commissioned are eligible:

• To earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90 day waiting period depending on years of continuous service with the Company. 
• For 8 hours of pay for each of a total of 6 paid scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday.  If such an Associate does work on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. 

Associates considered full-time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc. subject to manager approval.

Qualification path

No previous professional experience is required to apply to this role; however, working on this project will require you to pass the basic requirements and go through a standard assessment process. This is a part-time long-term project, and your work will be subject to our standard quality assurance checks during the term of this agreement.

Basic Requirements

• Full Professional Proficiency in the English language
• Being a resident in the United States for the last 2 consecutive years and having familiarity with current and historical business, media, sport, news, social media, and cultural affairs in the United States
• Ability to follow guidelines and conduct online research using search engines, online maps, and website information
• Flexibility to work across a diverse set of task types, including maps, news, audio tasks, and relevance
• Daily access to a broadband internet connection, computer, and relevant software

Assessment

In order to be hired into the program, you’ll take an open-book qualification exam that will determine your suitability for the position and complete ID verification. Our team will provide you with guidelines and learning materials before your qualification exam. You will be required to complete the exam in a specific timeframe, but at your convenience.
