Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in providing assessment, psychoeducational classes, individual, family and group therapy to patients needing substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis treatment at Carle BroMenn Addiction Recovery Center. Work collaboratively with hospital staff, providing liaison activities such as providing treatment options that fits patients' needs. Assists discharge resource team in coordinating transfers to outside substance abuse facilities. Provides short term therapy for patients with addiction and/or mental health disorders.

Responsibilities

• Number of beds on unit: 30
• Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about unit): The Surgical Unit is a 30-bed unit specializing in the care of patients of pre- and post-surgical patients ages18 years and older. Severity of conditions varies from the medically stable to discharge ready. Common types of patients include regional analgesia patients, orthopedic surgical patients, major abdominal surgery patients, urology surgery patients, spine surgery patients, trauma patients, and patients with IV pharmacological core drips and boluses.

• Department culture and resources: The Surgical unit is a fast-pace, team-oriented unit. We work closely with our physician partners and ancillary team members to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. We have a robust Shared Governance that meets monthly. Overview

Our team approach supports new and experienced nurses. We guide and encourage patients before, during and after their course of treatment. We triage our patients over the phone and in person. We work closely with radiation and surgical oncology, nutrition, and palliative medicine to coordinate care for our patients. • Provides evaluation, counseling and therapeutic services to chemically dependent patients/families assessing patient’s social, psychological, emotional, financial, cultural problems and chemical abuse history.
