• Layout work requirements and obtain needed equipment to perform routine repair and alteration operations, inspect weld for bead sized and compliance with other specifications

• Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to measure repaired part and ensure dimensional requirements are met. Complete production paperwork
  
• Use and interpret complicated prints, drawings, and process sheets to perform a variety of layouts, as well as complete and sign work orders identifying the operations performed
  
• Perform standard hand and machine welding operations to fabricate or restore parts and tools where close tolerances are not normally required, and specifically defined criteria are used. Utilize black light process to determine extent of repairs required
  
• Build up finished machined surfaces and repair simple cracks and other routine imperfections. Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results
  
• Recognize need and arrange for repair or replacement of equipment used in performing the work as necessary. Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions such as an operator check list for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly

We have an immediate need for Construction Inspectors in the Asheville, NC area for our Transportation division. The successful candidates will support our current staff while assisting in growing the Construction Management and CEI practice to better service our clients statewide.

Perform construction inspection activities and assist in the administration of highway and bridge construction projects. More specifically:

• Apply safety philosophy to all job responsibilities and ability to work safely in an outside environment
• Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications
• Establish engineering controls for the construction contractor and inspection of the work
• Prepare daily inspection reports
• Perform on-site material testing and sampling
• Perform measurement and documentation of completed work
• Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications
• Effectively communicate with project staff and clients, both verbal and written communication
• Basic knowledge of computer and tablet (iPad) operation

The employee will typically be assigned to NCDOT or other roadway and bridge construction projects. Daily travel to project site will be required. Candidates must work nights and weekends when required. Overnight travel is not expected but may be necessary on a limited basis.

Candidates must hold a valid state driver's license and clean driving record and have the ability to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, walk or stand for extended periods of time while performing manual tasks, and work outdoors during all types of weather.

Applicant must possess a minimum of 2 years of CEI experience.

Applicant must possess the following NCDOT certifications or have the ability to acquire them (at no cost to the candidate) within 6 months of beginning employment, as schedule permits:

Overview

We are seeking a driven and team-oriented Preconstruction Manager to lead and manage the preconstruction phase of our commercial construction projects across healthcare, education and municipality. The ideal candidate brings both estimating expertise and real-world operations experience, working side-by-side with our Operations team to ensure a seamless transition from concept through construction. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, builds strong relationships, and thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment. A strong understanding of Construction Management-at-Risk (CMAR) and Design-Build delivery methods is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all aspects of the preconstruction process, including budgeting, estimating, preconstruction, scheduling, and client coordination, with full ownership of deliverables.

Partner closely with Operations teams throughout preconstruction to align on scope, logistics, constructability, staffing, construction scheduling and execution strategy.

Develop and manage preconstruction schedules, milestone tracking, and client facing deliverables.

Support business development efforts including proposals, interviews, conceptual budgeting, and relationship-building with clients and industry partners.

Provide detailed cost estimates with quantity takeoffs, value engineering analyses, and GMP proposals with a focus on accuracy and transparency.

Lead presentations to the client including cost updates, scope alignment discussions, and value engineering recommendations that build trust and confidence.

Provide proactive constructability input during design to identify and reduce risk early, control cost, and drive solutions to protect our clients and our company.

Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with our trade partners to foster collaboration, competitive pricing, accountability, and shared success.

Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure comprehensive coverage and strategic buyout planning.

Ensure a smooth and well-communicated transition from preconstruction to the Operations team, setting the project up for field success.

Qualifications:
