What You'll Do

Core Engineering Work

• Design, build, and deploy scalable, secure, and compliant systems across front-end, back-end, and data layers
• Development and maintain infrastructure-as-code system (CDK) to enable new features and improve reliability and security.
• Develop features and technical solutions in partnership with Product and Engineering leadership
• Debug, monitor, and optimize systems for speed, reliability, and user experience

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and maintaining data-intensive platforms
• Strong understanding of system architecture, cloud infrastructure, and API integrations
• Experience with Agile development and strong operational discipline

• Experience with React.js and frameworks such as Next.js

About You:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong experience in DO-178C flight software development and avionics integration. In this role, you will design and implement safety-critical autonomous flight software, integrate it with avionics hardware platforms, and contribute to certification-ready development processes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, integrate, and verify flight-critical software using C/C++ following DO-178C processes.
• Build application-level flight software and ensure robust integration with underlying avionics hardware interfaces
• Create, maintain and review software requirements, code and certification artifacts adhering to certification plans and standards
• Troubleshoot integration issues on test benches and aircraft
• Develop automated workflows for software integration and build processes.
• Collaborate with engineers from cross functional groups such as systems, safety, hardware, flight controls and test to ensure product and program level needs are met.
• Contribute to planning and execution of SOI audits and certification reviews.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software requirements, architecture, build processes and design decisions
• Support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), processor-in-the-loop (PIL), and flight testing activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.
• 3-5 years of embedded or flight software development experience within a DO-178C environment.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded, real-time, safety-critical systems.
• Understanding of avionics protocols and architectures (ARINC 429, ARINC 653, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet).
• Experience designing and implementing software for real-time operating systems (RTOS), with strong knowledge of low level topics such as device driver development, interrupt handling, memory management, and performance estimation.
• Strong experience with requirements management, including authoring high-quality software requirements, maintaining traceability, and using tools such as DOORS, Jama, or Polarion.
• Experience with hardware/software integration, debugging on target hardware, and use of analysis tools (logic analyzers, bus analyzers).
• Experience with Python scripting, tool automation and test automation
• Experience with CI/CD environments and automated code quality checks.

Nice To Have

• Background integrating software across diverse avionics platforms or multicore systems.

The Role

As Senior Project Engineer, you will work alongside senior project managers serving as owner's representative on behalf of a confidential defense tech client. You will be a critical part of the project delivery team, supporting the day-to-day execution of complex construction projects from the owner's side. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with real exposure to executive-level clients and mission-critical work.

What You'll Own

• Support senior PMs in managing proposals, drafting meeting minutes, contract creation, and client reporting documents
• Assist in the creation and ongoing updates of project budgets and schedules
• Manage document control, change order processing, monthly invoicing, TI allowance reimbursement, and project closeout in coordination with project managers
• Day-to-day involvement across multiple concurrent, complex construction projects

WHO WE NEED

We are seeking a versatile and team-oriented Structural Project Engineer in our Structural Team, ideally located in the Syracuse or Albany, NY area, or at our Endwell, NY office. Candidates located outside the designated office locations may qualify for full remote work, subject to company policy. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. A PE is also required. Experience should include structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, and aluminum structures. Experience with cable design is preferred.

The primary duties associated with this position include:

• The candidate should be proficient with the International Building Code (IBC); ASCE-7; ACI 318; ADM-2020; and AISC.
• Performing challenging 3-dimensional structural analyses and designs for a wide variety of clients using various state-of-the-art design software, including RISA 3D, SAP, RAM, and RISA Foundation.
• Responsible for serving as lead project engineer, i.e., taking responsibility for developing design, preparing detailed structural drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT, and specifications. This includes coordinating the work of junior team members and amongst other trades.
• Solving engineering problems using experience, judgment, and education and knowing when to ask for assistance when required.
• Write and review related reports for the services provided.
• Scoping projects and assisting project managers with proposal creation.
• Serving as a Quality Control reviewer for the designs of team members.
• Assisting the Team Leader in initiating, developing, and implementing continuous team improvement initiatives.
• Supporting structural work in our building projects within the Structural Facilities Group as workload warrants.
• Attending client meetings/presentations in the daytime or evenings.
• Communicating with client representatives, contractors, and suppliers.
• Participating in site visits/inspections/documentation during construction.
• Work on a variety of projects including schools, industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and governmental projects.
• This position requires an individual that has strong technical abilities with good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced market.

Additional duties will include preparing structural designs; prepare structural design summaries and detailed drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT; consider alternate designs and value engineering; and meeting scheduled project deadlines.

Hiring Salary Range: $80,000-$110,000 (Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities along with an internal equity and alignment with market area data.)

• Quality Standards: View Unit and Integration tests as first-class citizens in the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborative Workflow: Experience refining designs, performing code reviews, and managing pull requests in a team environment.

• Full-Stack Experience: Additional expertise in any of the following areas:
  • Systems: Kafka, Temporal, Docker, POSIX.
