Job description:

Manufacturing Engineer

Direct Hire | Profit Sharing + Excellent Benefits

Location: Allentown, PA area

Summary:

A well-established manufacturer of electro-mechanical water management systems (pumps, fountains, and aeration equipment) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role focuses on improving manufacturing processes, supporting new product introduction, and assisting with the design and layout of electro-mechanical systems used in water management applications. The systems incorporate components such as pumps, motor starters, circuit breakers, switches, connectors, and control panels.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with electro-mechanical products and be comfortable supporting basic design work, AutoCAD layouts, and component selection/sizing for manufacturing and product development. Deep electrical expertise is not required — the electrical aspects of the systems can be learned by the right engineer.

This is a hands-on role working closely with production, engineering, and service teams to improve product manufacturability, reliability, and efficiency. This is a chance to have a meaningful impact and wear a number of hats within an organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Process Support

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Develop and document manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and standardized processes.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Improve manufacturing flow, assembly methods, and plant productivity.

Product & Design Support

  • Support engineering teams in transitioning new products from design into manufacturing.
  • Create or update AutoCAD layouts and assembly drawings for product configurations and manufacturing support.
  • Assist with product improvements and design updates to improve manufacturability and reliability.
  • Help develop standardized design and manufacturing criteria across product lines.

Electro-Mechanical Systems Support

  • Support engineering and production teams with systems that integrate pumps, motors, and electrical control components
  • Assist with the selection, sizing, and configuration of components such as:
  • Switchgear and control components
  • Connectors and switches
  • Circuit breakers
  • Motor starters and motor protection devices
  • Pumps and related components
  • Assist in configuring systems used to operate multiple pumps and lighting systems in domestic and international applications.
  • Work with outside vendors and third-party testing agencies (UL, ETL, CE) to support product compliance and certification.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, production, supply chain, and service teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in cross-department collaboration and product development discussions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding component specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering within electro-mechanical product environments.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, product assembly, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ability to support basic design work and engineering documentation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience creating AutoCAD layouts or similar CAD-based engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical systems including pumps, motors, or control components.
  • Familiarity with motor controls, AC induction motors (single or three phase), and pump systems.
  • Experience selecting or specifying components such as switchgear, circuit breakers, connectors, motor starters, or motor protection devices.
  • Experience with UL, ETL, CE, or other product certification processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Acumatica a plus).
  • Experience with Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Inventor) and 3D printing (FDM) a plus
