Product Manager - Valves, Actuators & Flow Control Systems

Compensation: Up to $130,000 + Full Benefits

Our client is a well-established and growing manufacturer of industrial flow control products used across water treatment, chemical processing, aquatics, and other demanding industrial environments.

They are seeking a Product Manager with a strong technical background to lead the strategy, development, and lifecycle management of key valve, actuator, and control system product lines.

This role works closely with engineering, sales leadership, and executive management to guide product innovation, strengthen market positioning, and support continued growth across North America.

This position is based on-site in Clemmons, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full product lifecycle for valves, actuators, and flow control system product lines.

• Collaborate with engineering teams on product design, specifications, and development priorities.

• Translate customer needs and market insights into new product opportunities and product enhancements.

• Work closely with sales teams to develop product positioning, technical messaging, and training materials.

• Conduct competitive analysis and market research to support strategic product decisions.

• Support new product launches and cross-functional initiatives across engineering, operations, and marketing.

Ideal Candidate Background:

We are particularly interested in individuals with technical experience in mechanical or electrical systems related to industrial equipment and automation.

About the role:

The IoT Developer – Smart Manufacturing is responsible for architecting, implementing, and sustaining industrial IoT integrations across manufacturing facilities to enable Smart Factory transformation.

This role operates at the intersection of industrial automation and enterprise systems, connecting plant-floor equipment (PLCs, sensors, robotics, packaging lines, and scanning systems) to enterprise platforms including the Execution Operations Platform (EOP), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP systems, and robotics execution systems.

This is a hands-on, plant-facing engineering role requiring real-time problem solving during machine installations, go-lives, and commissioning events. The position directly enables production visibility, material traceability, quality validation, and operational optimization.

The IoT Developer plays a critical role in scaling standardized connectivity architecture across multiple facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Industrial IoT Integration & Architecture

• Integrate PLCs, robotics, sensors, and machine controllers using MQTT, OPC-UA, REST APIs, and secure messaging protocols
• Develop and maintain edge-to-cloud data pipelines for real-time manufacturing data
• Design standardized machine connectivity frameworks for multi-site scalability
• Implement structured data models for production, quality, and downtime capture
• Ensure secure data transmission and storage aligned with IT and cybersecurity standards
• Develop reusable integration templates to accelerate future deployments

2. Smart Factory Enablement

• Connect Execution Operations Platform (EOP) with MES, ERP systems, and enterprise applications
• Enable material tracking technologies (RFID, barcode, serialization, vision systems)
• Capture and validate real-time production, scrap, yield, and dimensional data
• Support deployment of Control Tower and plant observability systems
• Enable digital twin models of machines and production lines
• Standardize event-driven data structures for enterprise reporting and analytics

3. Automation Expansion & Plant Deployments

• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
• Validate integration reliability prior to production go-live
• Support commissioning and startup during compressed installation windows
• Troubleshoot PLC and machine communication during live production
• Work directly with automation vendors, controls engineers, and plant operations teams
• Scale successful implementations across additional facilities

4. Proactive Operational Support & Reliability

• Monitor machine connectivity and data health across sites
• Troubleshoot IoT communication failures and production-impacting issues
• Improve system resilience and fault tolerance
• Reduce downtime through early detection and rapid resolution
• Continuously harden and optimize plant integration architecture

Preferred Qualifications

• Smart Factory or Industry 4.0 implementation experience
• Experience integrating material tracking technologies (RFID, barcode, computer vision)
• Exposure to enterprise genealogy or graph database systems (e.g., Neo4J)
• Participation in multi-site rollouts
• FAT/SAT experience during machine installations

What Will You Do?

The Manufacturing Supply Chain Manager will manage the generation and execution of manufacturing plans from the development of the Master Schedule through packing of the units in Assembly. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and IT to drive improvements to materials and inventory management programs. Lead the search and implement breakthrough strategies that improve utilization by increasing throughput, inventory turns and reduction of cycle time. What Will You Do

• Develop, implement and maintain a manufacturing plan for multi-plant operations using a Supply Chain Management scheduling system. Review and make recommendations for approving the Master Schedule for sequence of models in assembly by reviewing machining, labor and material constraints.
• Maintain strong attention to material utilization, process flow, cycle time and inventory management.
• Monitor, revise and control execution of the plan on the shop floor using a Supply Chain Management scheduling system. Prioritize the sequences of manufacturing work orders; adjust queue times, move times and lead times to improve throughput.
• Assist in the development of the shop floor production strategy. Review the throughput capacity requirements planning (CRP) report weekly with manufacturing management looking for short-term problems at selected work centers. Review the throughput Load-to-Capacity reports monthly with appropriate management looking for potential long-term constraints associated with manufacturing and assembly work centers. Suggest the use of overtime as required.
• Meet quarterly with sales and operations management to review sales forecast numbers of existing products and new forecast numbers from new product introductions. Using the APS, create a Load to Capacity chart to determine and evaluate the impact of machinery, materials, methods, environment and people for all manufacturing divisions: casegoods, upholstery and bedding.
• Work closely with P &IC Managers in other facilities to make recommendations and implement necessary changes to manufacturing systems to improve flow of materials to achieve standardization of planning systems throughout the organization.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the manufacturing plan and the results of its execution with the goal of meeting or exceeding scheduled completion goals for each facility. Work with P &IC Managers and planners to make recommended changes to Advanced Scheduling Systems (through-put) model.
• Assist with directing the activities of the Manufacturing Supply chain planner; collaborate with P &IC supervision, planners and clerical personnel to resolve planning issues and provide training and education in Material Requirements Planning (MRP), MAPICS XA, APICS, CPIM and CSCP.
• Provide continuous improvement of the manufacturing operations computer systems and departmental processes. Collaborate with the IT organization to improve current and new programs. Develop and annual budget for equipment and personnel.
• Work closely with all other functional areas of the company to achieve profit and growth objectives.
