Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Assist the Controller in managing the accounting department in the daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash management.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial results. Assist Controller with capitation payments, risk adjustment and IBNR accruals and reconciliations.

Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare internal management reports and support external financial reporting.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Assist Controller to support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process.
  • Provide variance analysis on administrative costs, medical expenses, and PMPM trends.
  • Assist in preparing analyses of key drivers impacting MLR, Star Rating changes, and revenue adjustments.

Leadership & Team Support
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to build team skills.
  • Assist the Controller and serve as a liaison between accounting and other departments (claims, actuarial, compliance, IT) as indicated by the Controller.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and at least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within managed care, insurance, or healthcare.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisor experience in previous work history.

THE POSITION:

Our firm is seeking to hire a dynamic experienced Partner to join and help lead our New York litigation practice. This leadership role is for an attorney with extensive experience in insurance defense litigation that thrives in strategy and oversight.
