We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our growing team in Phoenix, AZ. This position will require site presence to support our Copper World Project in Tucson, AZ.

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering and project design activities across various study phases (concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, EPCM, and EPC). This position will oversee the integration of multidisciplinary design teams, ensure compliance with project scope and technical standards, and provide leadership to ensure project objectives are met safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Main functions include (but not limited to):

• Engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.
• Manage engineering teams in projects and across large studies with a project delivery focus.
• Provide leadership and support to the Engineering team through supervision, mentoring, training, and motivation to produce engineering deliverables for projects and studies.
• Lead, co-ordinate and manage all engineering and design functions for a study / project.
• Ensures areas of uncertainty are highlighted and actions are taken to address them.
• Promotes collaboration with other functional groups and stakeholders for engineering matters.
• Interface between Engineering and the other disciplines on the project including Project Controls, Project Management, Procurement, Contracts, Construction, suppliers, and the client team.
• Mentoring and development of less experienced personnel.
• Support ongoing improvement and maintenance of engineering systems and procedures.
• Use and support the maintenance of engineering standards across projects and studies by identifying and implementing best practice and holding the team to account for quality.
• Develop and update project-specific procedures and workflows.
• Ensuring different disciplines are integrated into an effective, fit for purpose engineering solution, including, but not limited to:
• Technical Support.
• Contract Management.
• Site Support.
• Commissioning.
• Documentation and handover.

Responsibilities

Engineering

• Ensure all required engineering design criteria and specifications are generated and that they aligned with the project scope and budget.
• Ensure the engineering deliverables meet customer and other stakeholder expectations.
• Ensure all engineering functions and activities are planned and managed in a coordinated and efficient manner to enhance engineering integrity and minimize rework.
• Ability to handle complex problem-solving tasks, applying appropriate analysis and consideration of high-level technical detail.
• Develop and manage an engineering schedule which meets project schedule requirements in an efficient and logical manner, ensuring the achievement of procurement schedules.
• Manage design coordination reviews with specific reference to monitoring progress and coordinating engineering activities between disciplines.
• Ensure that the discipline designs are based on best engineering principles, statutory regulations, relevant legislation, statutory acts, codes of practice, industry norms, company specifications together with the client standards, procedures, and specifications (quality of design).
• Ensure that engineering designs are compliant with legislation (with specific reference to the legal SHE requirements in terms of US Legislation).
• Raise safety awareness and ensure the design for safety principles are applied to the project.
• Ensure engineering risk assessments and HAZOPs are carried out and all identified issues are addressed.
• Ensure that engineering designs are innovative, and that engineering is fit for purpose.
• Ensure that engineering designs are constructible and operationally viable.
• Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of discipline designs are implemented.
• Implement continuous improvement through lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies for all disciplines.
• Coordinate and interface with internal and external project consultants as and when required.
• Coordinate and interface with internal and external design and drafting disciplines via the Project Section Leader.
• Provide discipline inputs for studies and proposals.

• Capture, appropriately communicate and apply lessons learnt, best practices and risk mitigation measures relevant to the engineering of the project.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, or a related discipline.

Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one.

A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience in mining, minerals, or heavy industrial projects.

Proven experience working in an EPCM project delivery environment.

Strong background in multidisciplinary coordination and project execution.

Experience supporting or leading projects in copper or other base metals.

Demonstrated ability to manage engineering design, cost, and schedule performance.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across teams and with clients.

Proficiency in engineering software and systems relevant to design, documentation, and project controls.

Strong understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards within industrial project environments.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), with the ability to independently manage email, calendar, virtual meetings, and team collaboration tools.

Physical Requirements:

While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit in a stationary position 50% of the time, alternate between sitting and standing, push/pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, or stoop.

May be required on occasion to lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small packages, typically up to 10 -20 pounds.

System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide for our customers critical needs.  Location: Tucson, AZ

What You Will Do

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite in Tucson, AZ. 

• Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding. 
• Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
• Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc. 
• Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues. 
• Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those in MIL-STD 882E.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory setting.
• Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
• Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program. 
• Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
• Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, based out of our Phoenix office. This position is responsible for the engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects. Main functions include (but not limited to): design engineering, technical support, package management, site support, commissioning, and documentation and handover.

Engineering

• Carries out innovative detailed designs as required for specific disciplines following good engineering practices
• Designs conveyor and piping systems in area of responsibility (checked by relevant BMH or piping technical lead)
• Ensures that the quality of discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation
• Provides design interface between disciplines
• Ensures certified design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs
• Ensures the effective peer review and approval of discipline design
• Ensures continuous improvement, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented
• Is responsible for the engineering discipline sign off
• Interfaces with internal and external design and drafting disciplines
• Provides discipline inputs for studies and proposals
• Provides engineering support to the site team
• Performs commissioning discipline activities
• Manages the mark-up and back droughting of redline drawings

Operational Management

• Provides input into all SHE matters, actively participates, and promotes a total safety culture.
• Ensures that relevant project procedures are complied with
• Ensures that fabrication, manufacturing, and construction drawings are issued according to the project programmer
• Manages the time schedule, cost, quality, risk and scope of assigned procurement packages.
• Ensures assigned packages are installed / constructed in accordance with the project & vendor specifications
• Manages, inspects and releases the relevant items of procurement, fabrication and construction within area of discipline and responsibility
• Participates in the Total Safety Culture of DRA and site safety requirements
• Assists with the commissioning of the assigned packages in accordance with the project & vendor specifications
• Ensures that reports are structured, accurate, complete and well presented
• Displays proactive communication with project team with respect to discipline interface and problem solving

Financial

• Manages personal and design/droughting budget man-hours
• Manages budget as allocated per discipline/procurement package
• Ensures designs produced are in accordance with capital budget and quantities
• Ensures suitable contract management is applied to managed procurement packages
• Ensures proper change management procedure is adhered to

Client Relations

• Ensures that all interactions with Clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner
• Ensures that Clients are kept informed and updated on the technical aspects of the project
• Ensures that DRA remains the Clients engineering service provider of choice
• Liaises and co-ordinates with the client's discipline engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/CONDITIONS

• While performing duties of this job, you may be required to stand, sit, alternate between sitting and standing, push/pull as necessary, reach overhead or below shoulder level, kneel, squat, stoop, crawl, and work at heights utilizing proper fall protection.
• Ability to access all areas of the job site and conduct physical evaluations of grounds and equipment including ability to work at high elevations.
• Personal protective equipment may be required when performing work on-site, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, protective clothing, gloves, and any other PPE as required.
• Work may be performed on an active mining construction site with various associated risks.

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Experience of onsite construction and commissioning experience within a multi-disciplinary team in Industrial, Mining & Minerals, Oil & Gas, or equivalent environment.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Arizona - desirable.

The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems team provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Guidance System and Flight Avionics solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our team develops missile Guidance and Flight Avionics Hardware. Our core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, analysis, requirements, integration, and test. Our core electrical engineering technologies include RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Digital, and Power. We partner with several Electrical Product Team departments that provide the detailed design of our electrical products as well as missile level systems teams.

The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems Team is searching for an Advanced Guidance Section/Avionics Tech Lead with experience as Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL). The role of the Electrical Subsystems Lead is to manage a cross-functional and cross-discipline team of engineers through product development. The Electrical Subsystem Lead provides both technical guidance and supervision in meeting project commitment. They also manage suppliers and may lead efforts in proposal development. 

• Work environment is primarily in an office, but may include labs, field work, or a combination.

• Assignments may include guiding a team through several phases of hardware systems lifecycle such as designs and analysis; architecting new electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations.

Job Summary:

The Bike Shop in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Fabrication Lead Tech who will work in the mechanical fabrication shop, executing a variety of mechanical fabrication efforts at an exceptional quality level, while collaborating in a dynamic, fast-paced, integrated team environment. The position interacts daily with fellow support technicians and engineers, to successfully meet the prototype and test manufacturing needs of our internal and external engineering customers.
 
 
Responsibilities to Anticipate:  

• Quick-turn machining of critical prototype, aerospace parts and test assemblies from metal and non-metal materials utilizing precision manual mills and lathes

• Use of general machine shop tools and support equipment including the use of typical dimensional measuring tools

• Work with basic sketches and, underdeveloped drawing packages as well as model renderings

• Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including part/machine setup, safe equipment operation, part inspection, managing their workload, supporting customers’ schedules, delegating, and coordinating work when required

• Work in a multi-program-controlled area.

• Report to the Mechanical Prototyping and Fabrication Section Lead within the Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication department (the Bike Shop)
   
   
  The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance  
   
   
  Qualifications You Must Have:

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience independently operating manual mills and lathes.

• Eight (8) or more years of interpreting mechanical blueprints / technical drawings with the ability to machine one-of-a-kind quality, in-tolerance parts per drawing specifications.

• Ability to inspect machined parts using standard precision measuring instruments to ensure tolerances are met.

• A strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) 
   
   
  Qualifications We Value:

• AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training such as: machining/fabrication technical education or apprenticeship).

• Basic experience in the development and manipulation of computer-generated 3D models in Creo, or similar CAD system

• Knowledgeable in the setup/operation of manual CMM’s

• Previous working experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and/or conversational programming, setup and operation
