We design and implement algorithms to perform pattern recognition, such as statistical and deep learning techniques, to identify meaningful trends and patterns. We wrap these algorithms in accessible, scalable software to be deployed on customer systems, often requiring containerized software and custom user interfaces for visualization.

This position is based in Beavercreek, OH with the expectation of being in Etegent's office or at a customer facility 5 days a week.

The Candidate:

They understand that the best model is the one that solves the customer's problem within pragmatic constraints. We need a Senior MLE who is not just technically sharp, but also an effective mentor and a savvy communicator. We are seeking someone who can navigate the ambiguity of client requirements and translate them into actionable research paths for the team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead project teams through the full R&D lifecycle. You will be responsible for aligning technical execution with schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Maintain a 50/50 balance between leadership and technical execution. We need a leader who can both be \"in the trenches\" designing algorithms and can handle project oversight and mentorship.
  • Serve as a primary technical interface for our customers. This involves translating complex algorithmic concepts into clear, value-driven updates and navigating stakeholder feedback with transparency.
  • Architect and oversee the implementation of signature exploitation algorithms. You'll determine the best path towards addressing the customer need – whether by traditional feature extraction or modern deep learning approaches.
  • Support business development and growth. This includes partnering with leadership on the bidding process, drafting white papers, and presenting technical solutions to prospective clients.
  • Elevate the team through active mentorship. You will provide high-level project oversight and lead constructive research reviews to improve the group's collective output.
  • Own the documentation and reporting process. You'll ensure that project updates, proposals, and final reports present a cohesive, professional narrative.
  • Build for scale. You'll drive the development of data science tools to handle the ingestion and analysis of diverse, large-scale datasets.
  • Standardize quality and rigor. You will reinforce best practices for data analytics and performance evaluation to ensure our results are repeatable across different applications.
  • Promote a culture of humility. Encourage an \"ego-less\" engineering environment where diverse perspectives are valued and feedback is focused on the best technical outcome.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Math, or Statistics.
  • 4-5 years of previous signal processing, computer vision, and/or machine learning experience.
  • Previous experience leading project teams for government contracts.
  • Experience maintaining successful relationships and developing business with R&D customers.
  • Experience developing software tools capable of deriving value from large, diverse datasets.
  • Background in data science, statistics, and/or computer vision.
  • Experience with Python, GIT, and Linux.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain up to a TS security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS security clearance
  • Experience with remote sensing data products such as SAR, ISAR, EO, GMTI, HSI, and OPIR.
  • Experience creating python-based user interfaces for data visualization.
  • Familiarity with DoD/IC customers.
  • History of technical presentations and publications in relevant fields.
