The Environmental Manager is accountable to identify, develop implement and maintain site environmental policies and procedures to ensure environmental compliance with current and pending local, state, and federal regulations.
About the Role
Site management team member accountable for all aspects environmental compliance internally and externally. Acts as the plant liaison to local, state and federal agencies. Subject matter expert and accountable party on environmental matters for site and regional management. Leads manufacturing and process improvement initiatives related to the environment ensuring the safety and wellbeing of employees and the community. Works to achieve and build an engaged workforce driven to self-directed ownership of environmental processes that achieve the short and long term strategic goals of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with environmental requirements via the completion of required government and internal reports (including Form R, Tier II, Emission Statement, Semi-annual & annual reports, Biennial waste reporting), training of personnel, development of operating procedures and equipment requirements, "management of change" review, and auditing.
- Identifying regulatory requirements and develop courses of action to ensure both our future compliance and our flexibility to operate profitably.
- Provide plant leadership for the continuous improvement of the ISO 14001 EMS.
- Coordinates identification of environmental aspects, evaluation of significance of environmental aspects, and establishment of environmental objectives and targets.
- Coordinates establishment and implementation of management programs to achieve objectives and targets.
- Project management on facility or operational modifications as assigned.
- Support project engineers on the environmental impact of capital projects.
- Represents the Wallingford Plant in areas where environmental concerns internally and externally to local, state and federal agencies.
- Work with local management to ensure a common understanding of environmental compliance issues and lead in their compliance efforts.
- Schedule and coordinate hazardous waste material bulk loads, drum loads and lab pack pick-ups using approved waste haulers and ensure required paperwork meets state and federal regulations.
- Make positive change regarding plant's processes, including; Environmental training procedures; Plant Standard Operating Procedures; the EMS system, Environmental audits and waste minimization.
- Participate or lead in team investigations of all major incidents. Ensure appropriate root cause(s) and corrective actions are identified and completed in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report plant emissions and discharges.
- Monitor and troubleshoot plant pollution abatement and controls equipment and devices.
- Comply with the Title V air permit including emission testing and LDAR.
- Sample wastewater discharge and complete monthly DMR report.
- Ensure the site meet the requirements of the site owner's NPDES permit.
- Acts as backup to plant ES&S Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or environmental sciences.
- 10+ years of experience in both Environmental Management and Process Engineering.
- Working knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Good communication skills both written and oral.
- The ability to present information to senior management and government regulators.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable EHSS laws and regulations/programs through continuing education seminars/courses.
- Provide positive, proactive leadership with regard to concern by plant employees for the safety and health of their coworkers.
- Identify/coordinate/complete environmental and improvement projects.
- Complete Leak Detection and Repair program weekly, monthly, and annual requirements (involves use of FID with calibration).

Role Description
Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager and supporting the Director of the Digital Ethics Center, the Senior Administrative Assistant will provide high quality administrative assistance in a fast-paced environment.
Duties to include greeting visitors, managing complex calendars and travel commitments, managing correspondence (including private, confidential, and sensitive emails), scheduling meetings, and creating, editing, and sending letters, references, and reports. In coordination with the Program Manager, this position will coordinate special functions and events for the Center (e.g., seminars, faculty searches, special presentations) by planning and organizing to ensure all details are handled in advance and managing events so that functions run smoothly (e.g., by preparing and circulating papers, agendas, minutes, and briefing notes, as appropriate). In addition, this position will manage office supply orders, process business expense, check requests, reimbursements, invoices, and facilities requests. This position will be responsible for travel arrangements for staff and visitors, creating detailed itineraries, and following up to ensure that travel reimbursements are accurate and timely. This position will assist in managing the Center’s communication channels, including the DEC inbox, Mailman lists, newsletter, and social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn). Responsible for maintenance and updating of the website. The position assists in the collection and assembly of materials for annual progress reports and grant proposals, application and appointment process for post docs and performs other administrative functions as needed in support of the Center.
This is a 30-hour per week position, with additional hours (up to 37.5 hours per week) during peak times at the Center. The role includes full Yale employee benefits.

As P2 Science continues to expand its cosmetic ingredient portfolio, we are seeking an experienced Applications Chemist to support product development, prototype formulation development, and technical storytelling via performance and claims data across our personal care ingredient portfolio.
Position Overview
The Applications Chemist will play a critical role in translating P2 Science’s ingredient chemistry into real-world cosmetic performance. We are seeking an individual who works independently, formulates across multiple product categories, and partners closely with commercial, marketing, and R&D teams.
The ideal candidate possesses hands-on cosmetic chemistry experience, is comfortable working autonomously, and understands how to develop credible performance data and claims for ingredients and finished formulations via instrumental analyses and conducting internal studies.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation & Applications Development
- Independently formulate personal care prototypes across multiple categories (e.g., skincare, hair care, body care, color cosmetics, lip care, fragrance-adjacent applications)
- Develop chassis formulations to support claims testing to demonstrate the performance benefits of P2 Science ingredients
- Customize formulations to support customer requests, troubleshooting, and reformulation efforts
- Evaluate ingredient compatibility, stability, and performance in finished systems
Performance Testing & Claims Support
- Design and execute in-house performance testing (sensory, moisturization, occlusivity, slip, longevity, conditioning, etc.)
- Translate test results into clear technical claims for marketing and sales use
- Collaborate with internal and external partners on third-party testing and clinical substantiation
- Support sustainability, natural, and “clean” positioning where applicable
Technical Support & Customer Engagement
- Serve as a technical resource for customers, distributors, and internal commercial teams
- Provide formulation guidance, problem-solving, and ingredient substitution support
- Prepare technical documentation, formulation guides, and maintain lab notebook
- Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, and technical presentations as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D to provide application feedback that informs new ingredient development
- Partner with marketing to support product positioning, storytelling, and launch materials

Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or related field
- 3+ years hands-on experience in cosmetic or personal care formulation (skincare, hair care, body care, color cosmetics, lip care, fragrance-adjacent applications)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously in a lab setting
- Broad formulation experience across multiple product types
- Familiarity with cosmetic raw materials and ingredient suppliers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity to ask questions and continue learning
Strongly Preferred
- Experience developing performance data and ingredient or product claims
- Understanding of regulatory and claim substantiation requirements (US/EU a plus)
